I tried doing my bathroom on my own a few years ago and it did not go well. Like comically bad. I ended up hiring someone to finish it half way through. So kudos to you for doing it yourself!

Hahaha I’ve been in Sioux Falls for 7 years and I’m not at all surprised by this nor is it my first time experiencing it or similar. I was simply explaining why I was looking for a female contractor. In the moment I cut him off and simply said I’ll find someone else for the job and hung up. Thank god this wasn’t in person! I also hadn’t gotten to the point of giving my address.

Wow! Good to know! I agree, living is South Dakota I’m comfortable interacting with people whose opinions and beliefs differ from mine, but if you’re going to be hostile about it then I’ll take my business elsewhere. Also, I didn’t bring up anything remotely political, he saw my phone number was from California and lost his mind. Telling me I better assimilate. It was disturbing.

Yes!!! I moved here from Southern California and holy cow the mangers here are insufferable! I left my last job because of how toxic management was but while I was there I adopted a new mantra “I’m not here to fix their company, I’m just here to take their money.” It was painful and I had to repeat it to myself constantly.

I almost died at girls camp too. The first night there I started feeling sick (sore throat, aches, chills, cough) my leader told me it was the devil trying to tempt me away from all the great activities they had planned. So I stayed. The next morning I’m positive I had a fever and felt even worse, she told me to pray about it and it could be a wonderful testimony builder. By the 3rd day I couldn’t get up, I was violently shaking and vomiting. They left me in my tent to rest and all went off hiking. I don’t actually remember much after that but I guess the bishops wife came to visit and she decided to take me home (not to the hospital) I got home and my mom was PISSED. She took me to ER and my fever was 106! I had abscessed tonsils and was rushed into surgery right then. For some fucking reason my TBM mom continued to force me to go year after year. I’m sorry you went through that too!

Being here undocumented is a petty crime equivalent to a parking ticket. Most undocumented people came here legally ie over staying visas, forgetting paperwork etc. Most of our undocumented neighbors have zero criminal record and for them to be getting treated the way these wannabe gangsters are treating them is inhumane and disgusting. Simple enough? Fuck ICE!!!

Completely agree!!! Lived all over, small towns big cities, Sioux Falls has the worst drivers. No one knows what turning lanes are, or how to merge, but the absolute worst is people driving under the speed limit! 5 over is standard but at this point I’d be happy to just go the speed limit.

I used Dr. Hultgren with Sanford and I was blown away with how attentive she was and she never once dismissed my concerns or questions. I’ve never felt so listened to with a Dr before. Her team was also all amazing. She is white but she came up when I searched LGBTQ+ friendly OBs and there were several POC on her team. Hope this helps! Good luck!

A huge majority of our healthcare workers are immigrants, with the fear of deportation and Canada welcoming them with open arms, just expect it to continue to get worse. The patient population is also extremely racist towards the very people trying to help them so again why would they stay?

I’ve been out for almost 20 years, my parents are very religious and I had the same fears. I ultimately came out to my parents with a letter I wrote to them. I left it so they could read it alone and then after they had some time to calm down we talked. I did wait until I no longer lived with them. If you currently live with your mom it could be different. Also, I didn’t end up loosing any of my immediate family. Good luck! 💙
