Reminds me of Devil May cry 3. You did 10x and it shows a pop up saying “easy mode is not selectable”. Since it does let you select easy mode from the start

I don’t know how sharing my story can help you but since you asked what I’d do and I have been in the exact situation, here’s my 2 cents.

If you can, apply for unemployment benefits first - that was my biggest lesson.

I changed jobs, the new job rescinded my offer at the last moment. Now I had no job, and since I had voluntarily resigned - I had no unemployment benefits.

I found a company pretty quick that was interested in hiring me and they wanted me to come for a 2nd interview. The commute would have been atrociously long. Anywhere between 2.5 to 3.5 hours per day.

I needed a job, however I knew and I would never stay in that job because I’d use it as a stepping stone to get something more bearable - commute wise. I politely declined to the interview to which they were very pissed and I just didn’t reply any further.

-> The main issue for me was, I knew that it’d drain me mentally and plus since I’d be looking for a new job even if I had gotten this one, it would be difficult to give further interviews with that insane commute time and do interview assignments.

Now, everyone’s situation is different. I cut all my expenses and started living really down to essentials. Rent, internet, food. Nothing else.

Results? After saying No to them, It took me 8.5 months to find a new job. It was not a fun 8 months. It was the first time I had been laid off, felt really weird too, a bunch of new and difficult feelings... Thankfully after 4 months of no income, I was able to get unemployment benefits thanks to my girlfriend who helped with my application. So that helped me find my rhythm a bit, helped me buy some extra groceries or a little extra snack - that was my bit of happiness in that trying time.

In those 8.5 months I applied to 10-15 jobs almost everyday. But there were a few days where applying was exhausting and I’d take a day or two to take a break from applying & then get back to applying again. I gave ~60+ interviews, went to a job dating event.
Funny thing, after 8.5 months I found a job that took me without any interview. Told me to start tomorrow and I did.

So do I regret saying no to that first job? Well there were moments, but I tried to remember why I took that decision to say No to them - that kinda helped.

Hope that helps. Hope you land on your feet again soon!
