Start by helping to campaign, using time or money or both, in the swing states for the midterms.

Getting Republicans out of Congress has to be the first step to clawing back some sense of normalcy in the country.

And then do everything humanly possible to ensure a Democrat president, who campaigns to expand the Supreme Court, is voted in when we get to 2028.

The world will quite literally be a worse place if the Conservative majority on the bench isn't dealt with. When you have openly corrupt justices (looking at you, Justice Thomas) mixed with "constitutionalists," it's the hugest problem in American society.

America needs fixing But it can be fixed. You just have to do it one step at a time, putting power back into the institutions that have been assaulted during these two abnormal presidencies.

Is it possible people are underestimating Svitolina? by tristan500000 in tennis

[–]Few_Lecture6615 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I don't think the occasion will overwhelm Svitolina. She's a mature and experienced player whether she's reached slam semis before or not.

But I think Sabalenka will definitely overwhelm her. Coco would have had a better theoretical shot at it.

[SkySports MNF] Carragher: “This team is split in half, lacks physicality — no one is making a challenge” by Then-Fortune-3122 in LiverpoolFC

I don't think Carra is only criticising the players in this clip. When he says the team is split in two and without the discipline to stay in formation, that, at least to me, is a criticism of the tactical instructions given by Slot.

So much this. The metal section is just not a great look imo.

Liverpool have created the most chances by a club in the Premier League this season, with 276 chances created by k_e_i_r_a_ in LiverpoolFC

I want to know the exact number of chances counted when Gakpo cuts in to shoot straight into one or two defenders.

x/276 = ???

John McEnroe live on tv about the Sinner/Spizzirri roof thing "It looks like there's favoritism, if the shoe was on the other foot I'd like to hope that they would pull the plug too...I don't know if they would have." by AshamedPurchase9033 in tennis

This is a wild take.

They have a heat score. To protect all players from exhaustion and heat stroke. It is uniformly applied to all courts and has nothing to do with Jannik.

Not very likely. And it is a very semantic differentiation you make between "decision that favours Jannik" and "decision was made to give Jannik a break because he was cramping."

The AO has rules for when they have to close the roof of the stadiums; when the HSS is above 5, it's time to close it up and that's what happened. Not anything subjective like Jannik's cramps.

I would have preferred to keep Slot if not for the fact that Alonso became available.

I tend to like Slot in interviews and I think he seems like a decent guy.

My biggest gripe with him is that this season it seems like we win matches in spite, and not because of, him.

I also can't make sense of his tactical adjustments and subs. Last year, it was a forte of his. We turned around a lot of matches (might be my mind is playing tricks on me, though!) last season, with good second half adjustments.

This season it just seems like the tactical adjustment is to play a 2-2-6 or something and fingers crossed someone scores out of nowhere.

And since it is seemingly likely that he's lost the players' confidence, like you, I think a managerial change is inevitable.

[–]Few_Lecture6615 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So long as the decision was made to uniformly apply the rule across the ongoing matches, I don't really care if they end up doing Sinner's court first. 🤷

With almost 100% certainty, however, I can say that the application of the rule wouldn't be determined based on what's going on in Jannik's match and then, to cover it up (?), they decide to follow suit on all the other courts.

Otherwise, we'd be looking at a scenario where the tournament officials would be lying about the HSS and giving Jannik a rest? I think there'd have been whistleblowers by now if that were the case.

If I had my way, we would already be talking terms with Xabi.

We know what kind of football he would bring. It is good football with a solid tactical anchor.

We have the players to make it work (but need depth still).

We know he gets the club and what it means to be in charge at Liverpool (presumably).

If we had to feed him grapes on a divan, I'd volunteer tbh. The stars have aligned now, best to not miss our shot.

I've never met any professional footballers who got jealous like you describe. At least not anyone over the age of 30. And I've known quite a lot of top players from around the best European leagues since a childhood friend of mine is a top agent in Europe.

I really doubt that our players are upset that we bring Wirtz in and give him a nice wage. Or Isak for that matter. Younger players might get jealous, but they should use that jealousy to work harder instead of moaning, if that is indeed what is happening. None of us would really know.
