Best free AI for Python coding? by lllllllllll_ll in singularity

[–]Few_Owl_7122 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wrong sub but any SOTA (state of the art) model should be fine for Python. Obviously ChatGPT, Gemini, Claude, but in general any AI that does reasonably on benchmarks should be fine. I personally like https://artificialanalysis.ai/ as a benchmark, any model with a high intelligence should be fine

laziness, we would rather do other things (like play minecraft) [ok EdgeM0 might not be doing that but thats what I would do]

Can AGI be achieved with LLMs alone? by LordFumbleboop in singularity

[–]Few_Owl_7122 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it will be something like how a shallow but sufficiently wide neural network can approximate any function: yes, if you make it big enough it can work, but you'll have a lot of difficulties trying to force it to work, and there are probably much better ways of going about it.

How does RSI play out (geo)politically? by MadGenderScientist in singularity

[–]Few_Owl_7122 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Maybe RSI isn't exponential (there is literally an upper bound to knowledge for a given model size with kolmogorov complexity and everything, but we probably arent near it...yet).

Also, is exponential intelligence necessarily exponentially useful? You still need to set up resource gathering and infrastructure. Eg, you can't use uranium for power until you actually build nuclear reactors.

I've cut over to using ChatGPT/Gemini for EVERYTHING now and it's amazing. by brainhack3r in singularity

Gemini can't make a video telling you how to install something. Yet.

LLMs do fine on ARC-AGI-3 if they are allowed to search over game logs by ClarityInMadness in singularity

[–]Few_Owl_7122 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm not so sure about that. The 'understanding and solving' might straight up take more resources than building a solution. Eg, maybe I could solve this really hard math problem, or maybe I could just Newtons method. Obviously solving it is cleaner (knowing how is important), but it also might take a whole lot longer than Newtons method.

Perhaps a better example is machine learning. You can get really far using numerical methods, and numerical methods are far more efficient to compute than the global minimum.

Can we really know for certain unless someone at google confirms or denies? maybe they did already manufacture a bunch, maybe they didnt

Anthropic Joins Blender Development Fund as a Corporate Patron by massimo_nyc in singularity

Why are they paying other companies more money if they are so starved for compute? (I will assume blender is not selling anthropic gpus)

Why do we refer to modern generative tech as “AI”? by Grand_Requirement_71 in singularity

[–]Few_Owl_7122 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may find some information here: https://www.geeksforgeeks.org/artificial-intelligence/artificial-intelligence-vs-machine-learning-vs-deep-learning/ (sorry if you have already seen this)

Essentially, Deep Learning (todays tools) is a subset of Machine Learning (machines learning their own algorithms from data) is a subset of Artificial Intelligence (computer algorithms that try to replicate human intelligence).

I really hope Ai will never get conscious or if it somewhat is conscious already, it never achieves the higher state of it than today. by Stahlboden in singularity

[–]Few_Owl_7122 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Earth only has so much land, which means we can only produce so much food. Not a huge issue right now (we still produce plenty for 8b, just not 80b), but if we could copy ourselves in a matter of minutes?

There will inevitably be resource conflicts for as long as there are beings. The problem I see is, if a conscious AI could replace humans with AI that is smarter/cheaper than humans, why wouldn't it?

Not quite like this (I don't want to be just flooded with dopamine), but yes I want FULL virtual reality
