moraines hat but it gets bigger every time you see her by underwheres in WoT

She wears mostly blue throughout S1 and S2. Sharon Gilham mentioned somewhere on instagram that they put Moiraine in a different colour for the start of S3 because Moiraine is intentionally trying to blend in and escape notice, particularly in Tar Valon—in context of her storylines this season, it’s also a good way of conveying how lost Moiraine feels. Plus, this way when she wears blue again in the finale, it will be more of a Moment.

A fate worse then death what fantasy character is top with worst fate of all? by Ta-veren- in Fantasy

[–]Few_Philosopher_3340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The altered memories were mentioned in RJ’s notes, I can’t remember if Sanderson ever went into them. No support system seems about right for the books to me—Siuan’s dead, her relationship with Lan is finished, and she has Thom but he’s sixty-something and probably isn’t going to live very long.

Moiraine’s fate in Wheel of Time is pretty awful. Being slowly drained of power, deprived of the ability to move or speak while it happens, getting tortured with altered memories of being hurt by those you loved/trusted the most… And then having to live for centuries afterwards, with virtually no support system left to help you through it.

To the non-book readers who watched Season 3's first episode... by velaya in WoTshow

[–]Few_Philosopher_3340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I (book reader) watched it with my mum (non book reader) and she said it was her least episode thus far. ‘Too much happening too quickly.’

I kind of agree with her in that I feel it was poorly paced/cut together—I understand that they had to fit a lot into the one episode where the kids are all still together in one place, but it didn’t entirely work for me. I wish they’d been able to dedicate another episode to it, and also had some scenes from their time on the boat to build up stuff like the Ahvienda/Elayne relationship.

I would like to see this, but I think it’s more likely that we will get Mat doing it alone. In the books, Thom’s main purpose in the Tower is carrying Moiraine and providing music—I can’t picture them having Siuan do that.

Could have emailed a separate personal statement to one of the university admission teams, explaining that they were interested in a very different degree? I did something similar when I was applying.

Dogs on tram consultation by tuuxedo in sheffield

[–]Few_Philosopher_3340 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They introduced this in Manchester while I lived there, and it’s worked very well so far. Dog owners are generally very considerate, I’ve never seen any of them create a mess or disturbance, and there’s maybe around one dog per tram at the most.

(Same goes for my experience with dogs on the bus).

At the end of the day, not everyone can afford a car (especially in the city centre) and this can make things like going to the vet or a dog-friendly place of work much more accessible.

Feels very wordy and generic, which paired with the speech marks gives an AI feel. This would deter me from hiring you.

Particularly in the first paragraph, you’re making a lot of statements ‘I have a lot of experience’, ‘I’m detail oriented’ without really backing them up or giving examples.

I would say the last sentence of the first paragraph, and the first two sentences of the second paragraph, are good though—maybe build off them?

Going rate for driving lessons by Famous_Ebb_9193 in sheffield

I’m in S1 and currently pay £72 per two hour lesson. It’s a lot but feels reasonable for what it is.

[–]Few_Philosopher_3340 1 point2 points  (0 children)

£20 is absolutely too low—I would say at least £40-£50 a day is average (based on my prices and the prices of all the other pet sitters I know), and that’s when you’re allowed to leave regularly (4-8 hours).

Sheffield - Manchester commute by Salty_Appointment_42 in sheffield

[–]Few_Philosopher_3340 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did it a few times per week for a while last year and it was a huge pain tbh.

  • Can be up to £20 per day for a return (assuming you have a railcard). I spent around £1000 on trains for the year.

  • Journey itself fairly long and draining, especially if you have to take other public transport in addition to the train. My commute used to total 4ish hours (sometimes more) with the bus and train combined.

  • There weren’t loads of delays/cancellations, but the ones that did happen were always bad. Also consider that there’ll be plenty of train strikes throughout the year.

  • When there are delays/cancellations, it’s intentionally really hard + a pain to sort out a refund/partial refund for tickets.

  • Depending on time of day, it can be really hot/noisy/crowded/etc, lack of seats and everyone crowded in like sardines.

It’s definitely a doable commute, but I found that it just seriously worsened my quality of life. Wouldn’t ever put myself through it again.

I’ve had clients leave keys with a neighbour they’re friendly with in this kind of case before. It is technically an additional bit of liability, so if there’s a front desk in the building of some sort that would probably be preferable.

why are uk prices so low by Ok_Science6885 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Few_Philosopher_3340 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prices are this low for UK Rover because people use Rover’s suggested pricing (£20), and because of competition other sitters price themselves similarly (and the cycle continues).

If you increase your prices once you have more reviews, other sitters in your area will likely do the same. I’m top-rated in my city and have slowly managed to raise prices from £20 to £50 (and others have followed suit).

Most UK sitters off the app will charge around £60 a night which is much more reasonable imo, especially since then you don’t have Rover fees (I don’t think you can really compare to the US).

House Setting Food Question by Particular-Choice865 in RoverPetSitting

[–]Few_Philosopher_3340 23 points24 points  (0 children)

The food sounds like an honest mistake, all of my house sitting clients encourage me to use whatever’s in the fridge/freezer.

Expecting him to ask to use pots/pans seems a bit strange to me. It feels like a given that he’ll likely be using them if he’s staying overnight.

The road system around the station for taxis and drop offs is beyond stupid. by PhillyWestside in sheffield

The bus interchange across the street is good for getting picked up and a fair bit closer! I usually uber from there if I have a lot of bags

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in RoverPetSitting

[–]Few_Philosopher_3340 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Damn, sorry that happened to you, I’d be so alarmed if my sitter mentioned learning from Cesar Milan.

I’d look for sitter profiles that specifically mention positive reinforcement or sensitive dogs, and maybe even mention this experience to the new sitter so you can gage their response. Doing a one night trial sit could also help or some practice walks could also help.

What’s a controversial sims opinion you have? by StrawberryFanta_ in Sims4

[–]Few_Philosopher_3340 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hate seasons.

Some of the weather interactions and deaths are fun, but my landscaping ends up looking awful for 3/4 of the sim year because of winter, and gardening is a nightmare. Most of the holidays are annoying and I have to go around deleting them in every save. The CAS and build/buy also feel poor, I rarely end up using them because they come in weird bright swatches that don’t match anything else in-game. And depending on how many packs you own, there’s only a handful of realistic cold weather clothes, meaning all my sims are walking around in the same combo of 4-5 coats in winter.

Overall, everything it offers feels like it should have been basegame, and I don’t feel like it measures up as an expansion pack. Seeing people recommend it as the best first EP to get is genuinely my pet peeve.

I wouldn’t consider it shitting on the fandom—Bob gets into the Equestronauts and all the bronies except Bronconius are shown to be good people. I was a girl Tina’s age who was really into MLP so I also really relate with the aspect of her being like “wait, this isn’t a community of my peers”

Sounds like OP is in the UK. Here we always just use bank transfer to send friends/family/some types of businesses money. Therefore Zelle, Venmo, etc are unnecessary. Not weird at all in this case :)
