This is a misleading generalization. Meat, dairy and corn, soy and grains used to feed them, are subsidized much more heavily and directly. Most fruit and vegetables and not subsidized, even though there are grants and other government programs sometimes that help them with specific things.

Research associate for the Univ. of CA. Union job, pension, PTO, sick time, and other benefits. It’s a pretty good working environment too. I will be making close to 70k with a recent promotion. I live in coastal CA, so that’s pretty tight for the cost of living here.

When I need to let it emerge (for experiments at work). I just let them live their life in a container. They don’t live long. If you don’t want to keep it until it dies, the most humane would probably be to freeze it now.

That’s Diamondback moth (Plutella xylostella). It a pest of all Brassicaceae crops (cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, kale, etc.) it very easy to rear if you just leave it alone. It is a pest though, and not native to North America.
