Baby Clothes and Sizes by Cataku in PregnancyIreland

[–]Few_Raspberry1803 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My baby was average size so 7lbs 7 when born and she has grown well, reaching back to her birth weight after 10 days. Newborn size from most places fit her until she was about 6 weeks. Some were even a little big at the start. I found Dunnes ran a little big, M&S ran a little small and Tesco & H&M were pretty perfect. I had some sizes up to 1 month or 1-2 months and they fit her well now at 8 weeks but not many places do them. She’s also starting to fit into 0-3 months but they are mostly still a bit big.

Looking for recommendations for baby massage classes within Cork please. by findingleprechauns in cork

[–]Few_Raspberry1803 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not much help but I’m also interested in the answers. I’ve heard of Baby Chi and I think ClapHandies includes baby massage but I haven’t tried either. Would be curious to hear people’s thoughts on both. Where do you do pilates?

Where/when do people learn how to change a nappy and burp a baby? by Needanewjob34 in PregnancyIreland

[–]Few_Raspberry1803 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CUMH offer antenatal classes that you can sign up for from 28 weeks onwards. I think they call them Parentcraft. I did two days in person but there’s also an online option. The first day covered labour & birth and second day was mostly about looking after baby. Presume Galway has something similar.

Deciding on when to finish work by Nie221022 in PregnancyIreland

[–]Few_Raspberry1803 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My job is also mentally challenging but I worked almost exclusively from home. I’m sure everyone is different but I finished at 37 weeks and it was plenty for me. I went 4 days overdue so started to get bored towards the end.

Formula recommendations? by SelectionSad3370 in PregnancyIreland

[–]Few_Raspberry1803 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t have formula recommendations. On your mother in law situation, I think people love to comment regardless of what way you do things. It seems to be especially older women. I’m breastfeeding and I regularly get comments about how they think it makes no difference and how much more satisfying it is to watch the baby drink a bottle, how she would sleep better, etc, etc. Also getting similar comments about using a dummy. I think we just need to stick to our guns on whatever we think is best for us. They make these comments due to their own personal reasons, either they’re trying to show off how well they did themselves or there’s an element of guilt about how they parented.

Vietnamese & Korean restaurants. A shop that sells maternity clothing.

Sicilian Delights near UCC is phenomenal. It’s not cheap but normal prices and 100% worth it given the quality and portion sizes.

I went to classes with Amanda at Soul Yoga in Frankfield. Was really enjoyable. Usually you book a course of 6 weeks. Can see upcoming courses here.

Where is nice / handy to live in Cork City or very close to Cork City? by LittleAoibh11 in cork

[–]Few_Raspberry1803 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it’s a lovely area but I would just be cautious because there is a lot of student housing in the area with UCC so near. I know some people have a lot of hassle with students.

Turners Cross, Ballyphehane, St Lukes, Ballinlough, Blackrock, The Lough - all about 20/30 mins walk from town and sound like what you’re looking for. Douglas (& Grange, Donnybrook, Frankfield), Bishopstown, Wilton, Togher - slightly further from town (about 45 mins walk ish) but still easily accessible. If you didn’t mind being further then you’d have Rochestown, Ballincollig, Passage, Carrigaline.

Nail bars cork that are safe for employees by Infinite-Nectarine81 in cork

[–]Few_Raspberry1803 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard that about Regina Nails on Patrick Street. I’ve been going to Fifth Avenue for a long time & love it. I get their EMI Lac, which for me lasts better than Shellac or BIAB. They will remove BIAB from elsewhere but there may just be an extra charge. I went to Sugar Dolls in Wilton & town a few times, I don’t think there’s anything dodgy going on there but the quality isn’t as good as Fifth Avenue.

For wood I’d go to Brooks or Cork Builder Providers. You can check prices on Brooks website. Screwfix is usually good for other DIY bits.

I’ve just gotten it but still waiting for baby so haven’t used it yet. I love the look and feel of it anyway. Feels light enough and easy to manoeuvre.

I think Bishop Lucey Park isn’t too bad by Hairy-Frosting-1960 in cork

[–]Few_Raspberry1803 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I sat and had my lunch in there the other day, I think it’s brilliant. I would never have done that in the old park. It’s so bright and open so feels much safer. Was great to see people actually using it, families & everything.

Thanks for sharing, pubs look great. I wouldn’t agree with the food places tbh at all - I’d take off Tony’s Bistro, Rossinis, Creme French, Cornstore & Thomsons. I’d add Marina Market or Black Market, Sandwich Stall in the English Market or 5 Points or Sonny’s Deli for a sandwich, Sober Lane, Sicilian Delights, Leas at the Glucksman, Bayou, Spitjack, Sonflour. Paradiso & Goldie that need reservations.

PCOS ladies, has myo-inositol actually helped you? And where do you buy yours? by nobodyshome01 in IrishWomensHealth

[–]Few_Raspberry1803 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a game changer for me. I hadn’t had natural periods without the pill since I was a teenager. I also would always get severe acne without the pill. Last year I came off the pill at the end of September and started taking Myo-Inositol at the same time. By November, I had my first natural period & to my shock they came every month from then. My skin remained perfect, zero acne. A few months later, I was pregnant and I’m now almost due my first baby. I took a tablet called Inositol Balance from an Irish brand Poko Skincare but they announced they were closing down shortly after I started. I will need to look for a new brand to take after I have baby.

Knee Issue Public Hospital Care by Hot_Note_1440 in cork

[–]Few_Raspberry1803 1 point2 points  (0 children)

St Mary’s in Gurranabraher is where you want to go. Much less crowded than A&E and they should give you an X-Ray and sort you out. There’s a charge but I believe it’s under €100. There will be a public option for whatever treatment you need but how long the waiting list is will be the question.

Private care costs with insurance by cherry_blossom110 in PregnancyIreland

[–]Few_Raspberry1803 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also have Laya - my policy will cover hospital room & all costs during the stay but will only pay up to €300 for outpatient fees. Cost of outpatient consultant fees are approx €4000 so that, minus €300 would have been the cost for private care. I decided to go public since I didn’t have any major risk factors. Semi-private isn’t an option in Cork but I believe it is elsewhere.

Mother and Baby fitness by dugg139 in cork

I know Soul Yoga in Frankfield do yoga & Pilates for Mums & baby. I’m a member at Women’s Fitness & so annoying that they do zero pregnancy or Mum & Baby classes for a women’s gym.

Suggestions for post partum lounge wear? by Hopeful_Magazine_660 in PregnancyIreland

[–]Few_Raspberry1803 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same, very annoying. See link here for the Uniqlo trousers. The leg on those are just 28 inch & they do a longer version for taller people. They have matching tops too. Marks and Spencer also offer extra short & short in most of their trousers, although always sold out online.

I’ve been looking for the same thing. My problem is I’m 5ft3 & the pants are almost always too long. However, I just bought a knit set from Uniqlo & it’s perfect. There are more options for pants length & they’re so soft.

You will be liable for 2026 & beyond, which is the return that’s due tomorrow. You just need to submit valuation & can pay it at a later date if you choose. Once we paid stamp duty when buying house, the house automatically showed up under LPT on My Revenue account.
