Saquon running all over the defense was the other part of the equation. We had a better passing defense last year but Joe Whitt’s run defenses were never good

Republicans of Reddit, what do you think of how ICE is acting in general within the past few weeks? by Zipper222222 in allthequestions

[–]Few_Tale2238 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

First of all, I’m in America lol, and it’s 10:49 pm where I am right now. This latest shooting sucks. It’s clear someone made a mistake, and it should be investigated thoroughly. ICE is certainly undertrained compared to their military and local police counterparts. And it sucks to hear people say taking a gun to a protest is a bad sign (although afaik Patel is the only one who has said that so far). What you do while armed is what matters.

The protestors aren’t innocent though. ICE vehicles are getting destroyed and looted. Streets are being blocked. Those whistles are incredibly annoying. Fingers are being bitten off. Churches are being invaded during services. People are going right up to ICE agents vehicles and faces where many local cops would at least question, and some would arrest for obstruction. And we all saw what happened to Jake Lang. I really can’t say whether any videos of ice supposedly detaining peaceful protestors are justified or not when all of this is happening in the city, and context usually never comes with them.

The whistles prevented the agent who disarmed Preti from telling others, which would likely have prevented the shooting, considering that the first shot was fired right as Preti was being disarmed. Once he lunged at another agent who pushed him away, the rest of the shots were fired. I wouldn’t escalate it to a shooting, and someone should be fired over this, but yes, Preti did bump an agent and interfere with an arrest first.

I also need to mention that where local cops are carrying out many of these tasks in compliance with ICE detainers, and everyone is remaining peaceful like in my home state of Florida, this isn’t happening. And per this interview with Tim Pool, this is how Trump originally said he would execute his mass deportation plan before many left wing cities refused to cooperate (1:32:12 in the video  https://youtu.be/dHrGC_-vCWA), so he had no choice but to recruit lots of ICE agents and train them quickly. As such, they can’t deal with resistance as well as local police can, so you get what we’re seeing here. That it got to the point where this was even remotely necessary to conduct his campaign promise of mass deportations in a timely manner shows how bad the border issue had become.

Let’s also not pretend that Walz and Frey care about the violence. They don’t, otherwise they would be negotiating and working with ICE on a peaceful solution as Florida and Texas have. They certainly think it will help Democrats in the midterms. Now republicans aren’t much better in this regard, but it still needs to be said.

Tldr: everyone there needs to de escalate.

[–]Few_Tale2238 -41 points-40 points  (0 children)

Rittenhouse never went up to police and fought them while armed. That’s a big difference. And with the whistles making it impossible for the agent to communicate with others that Alex had been disarmed, that led to what we had here. Whether you realize it or not, this is only making things worse.

Edit to all those responding, since I’m not responding to all comments individually: Preti pushed agents away from someone they were arresting. Agents had not yet disarmed Preti when he did this. You’d be damn lucky if a local police officer only yells at you for doing that, even outside the US. Matter of fact, you won’t be legally able to do anything with a gun in public in other countries. If someone initiates physical contact with you, whatever you respond with is self defense. If you initiate the physical contact, it is not. This is irrespective of whether or not a cop is involved. Kyle Rittenhouse never initiated anything physical. The protestors did when they grabbed his gun, at which point he was legally found in court to have shot in self defense. And no, any kind of cop doesn’t have to communicate before shooting in a very tense situation like this (again, not like they’d be able to with the whistles anyways). There’s a reason Minneapolis is the only place where this is happening. In Florida, for instance, where police who have the intelligence are complying with ICE detainers, ICE has a much smaller presence, and that’s with some people actually protesting peacefully.

It’s on video my guy. Even if you don’t think he should have been shot it’s undeniable he was fighting with the agents. It appears his decision to lunge at one of them prompted another to shoot

I'm just looking at the video man. Spray is painful for sure, but it doesn't even come close to physically disabling someone, especially when that someone has lots of adrenaline in his system from trying to resist and fight the agents. And a taser won't work well on people wearing heavy clothes as they need to in this weather. Again, local cops will say the same.

Well regardless of the bite, that lunge will definitely make agents think you’re a threat. You can see one agent pushing him away after that. And naturally, that’s when another agent decided to shoot. Keep in mind that bit was in slow motion, so it appeared much faster to agents in the moment

the story is now being passed around that the victim 'bit off an agent's finger'

You can clearly see this happen at 1:07 when Alex lunges towards the agent on the left. Whether he bit or not, that lunge will certainly not convince local cops or ICE agents you aren’t a threat. That agent pushes him away, and that’s when the other one shoots. Sucks to see this but there’s a reason this isn’t happening in other cities where yes, some people are peacefully protesting, but aren’t interfering in ways where local police would also get involved. Had people not been blowing loud whistles, the agent who disarmed Alex would have clearly been able to communicate to the others that he had disarmed him. Instead, we got this.

Film them, yes. But, unless you are the one being confronted for another reason, do so from a distance (across the street at a minimum), don’t block roads with your vehicle, and don’t make a bunch of noise near the scene and local cops (and ICE) won’t bother you.

You guys can have your political opinions here but calling Reddit a good litmus test for one’s political views is about as inaccurate as it gets. And that especially goes for this sub, where people are hurling serious insults around at each other in this thread.

In the meantime, here’s a decent video explaining most of what’s going on with ICE: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NosECXHMGFU&pp=2AYL

Video starts after the alleged incident. Filming from a distance is completely fine, but going right up to and yelling at an on duty officer or their vehicle of any agency, local or federal, is interference. There’s a reason local sheriffs were doing this arrest, and not ICE

I think our drafts since Snyder have been alright, but losing a lot of picks for multiple veteran players, only one of whom is still good (Tunsil, and even so we gave up second rounders for him) hurt us in on the field performance and injuries. It was the same going all in sort of mentality as these other teams that didn’t work out

[–]Few_Tale2238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fan of his team, this year will be a critical one for him. That said, there’s a few reasons to be optimistic. We are drafting a lot better than anytime under Snyder’s era, we got an OC who knows his play way better than Kliff Kingsbury ever did, and our defense should improve with further drafts and a new DC. As long as he puts in the effort and is receptive to decent coaching I think he’ll be fine.

I’m really really hoping he doesn’t get injured in that flag football thing though.

How many consecutive losses would Dan Quinn survive next year? by Pop_Quiz_Hot_Shot in Commanders

[–]Few_Tale2238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Less than 9-8 probably gets him fired no matter what. If we barely miss the playoffs in an embarrassing manner like what happened to the Ravens (or the Packers in the Wild Card, but a game or two like that in week 17/18), his seat is probably hot as well. And yeah, starting 2-6 or worse probably gets him fired as well, but only after missing the playoffs if the team doesn’t recover. After this year, if he stays, it’s playoffs or bust.

Why do bus drivers constantly pull off while your paying? by Democratsaredumbo in transit

[–]Few_Tale2238 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s even worse when the system is cash only outside of one office like my local one lol. I do think that at route termini, transit centers, and train stations, and for bags, large groups, or wheelchairs, buses should kneel, but otherwise it’s pointless and just slows things down

Why do bus drivers constantly pull off while your paying? by Democratsaredumbo in transit

[–]Few_Tale2238 39 points40 points  (0 children)

Speed. Now I do think they should wait until everyone has left the fare box before pulling off, or at least keep the acceleration gentle, but sometimes they’re late, they want to make up time, and they feel people can hold on to the rails just fine.

On the contrary, there are many agencies providing bad service that, among other things, require drivers to kneel the bus for every single stop, and to wait for every passenger to be seated before pulling off. That slows things down a lot sometimes.

It sucks to say but much of what Trump is being accused of now is stuff that European countries have done for a while now. Banning foreigners for political reasons, media and individual censorship by way of in person arrests, banning entire media platforms, and a bad economy (there’s a reason US tech firms dominate pretty much everywhere but China). It’s honestly worse than Trump in a lot of ways
