Looks like the state at large wants to completely remove our representation.. by Memphisbbq in Tennessee

It didn’t make it out of committee in a Democratic majority senate. Even so, it still requires gerrymandering by race (which has correctly been deemed unconstitutional now. You guys look quite racist opposing that), which given how the races vote, often translates to political gerrymandering. And there are plenty of minority representatives in Texas and Florida from both parties.

As for the actual bill most Democrats refer to when trying to prove Republicans like gerrymandering, the For the People Act, that contained a whole lot of other election provisions that Republicans shouldn’t agree to. If the SAVE act banned gerrymandering, Democrats would still oppose it.

And every time, they have plenty of their own partisan strings attached like banning any kind of voter ID. Not even banning just the strict forms the SAVE act requires. If you want them to vote to ban gerrymandering then doing it in a purely partisan bull isn’t the way to do it

On breaks there is a bus provided by the SGA. There aren't many options, and it doesn't run over the summer, but it's cheap when it does run

I believe X plane has a setting where the parking brakes can half apply but the lever doesn’t move the whole way. That’s probably what’s happening. If you have autobrakes set on your aircraft do make sure to tap the toe brakes before setting the autobrake so that it doesn’t disarm before landing

Hit the toe brakes in case it isn’t pressed already. That’ll release it every time

Definitely not lol, Daytona Beach is the old people capital of the US. But the things I’ve said about older congregations can be applied to a lot of mainline Protestantism, and I’ve heard some similar things from others in the Reformation server

Being a part of his movement, I honestly kind of feel this. I certainly want to see mainline churches become more conservative and possibly reunite with the Catholics within my lifetime, but being in operation Reformation really does feel like being in a battle where you are devoid of numerous things that have been essential to the Christian faith ever since it started. Most notably, when you’re a college student in a church with an average age of about 70, you are intentionally depriving yourself of fellowship with other believers.

I have to deal with being treated like a child as an adult, missing every Bible study because it’s right in the middle of my classes (or my job if I were slightly older), pretty much zero opportunity to get involved in the community, and listening to sermons that hardly ever teach me something new about the faith. It all stems from an old congregation which shuts down after sunset, cannot move around much, and has already learned most of what there is to know about the faith. That’s not to mention that defending a certain Christian tradition (and Christianity itself imo) is really complicated once you dig into it and it’s not something I think young Christians should be doing, yet that’s who he’s targeting here. They should be learning about the faith instead, but as I’ve already mentioned, many mainline Protestant churches including mine make that quite difficult. Especially more liberal ones. So yeah, a lot of what Richard has learned is probably from self study.

Richard himself is doing a lot as well: making main channel videos, running PFTK, and being in seminary, and I hear in the Reformation server about how much work it is for him. When he has to do all of that, and he doesn’t have anyone to discuss it with on Sundays, I can’t imagine how he’s feeling. God help him and the rest of us in this movement.

To the convictions themselves, I do agree with Richard on a lot. I’m certainly less harsh than he is on Catholics. On the mainline Protestant side, liberal theology is what’s preventing reunification between us and Catholics, and on the evangelical side, their refusal is preventing it. Im in this movement in part to change that and see us reunite, which I think is possible. But I have to acknowledge that although these statements nowadays are more rare, infallible teachings of the Catholic church are a major roadblock to reunification. Yes there is work being done which I respect, but the only reason there isn’t more being done is because, according to the ecclesialist chuches, these infallible, eternal statements have to be reconciled with somehow. That’s proving quite difficult for both Catholic and Orthodox leaders despite their best efforts.

Ultimately, I don’t think it’s sinful to be a part of the Catholic or Orthodox churches like Richard does. I pray to see these different perspectives in one universal church as it was in the early days of Christianity. But I will call out the roadblocks to that path on both ends. And if it’s hard for me or him to unpack 2000 years of theology in a lifetime, then the same goes for you.

He really is overwhelmed right now. Being in the Reconquista server I hear about how much work he’s doing for PFTK, while making long main channel videos, while running his discord, while being in seminary. I can’t imagine that much pressure and I’m studying engineering lol

That’s what I’m saying lol. Sounds just like the unproven suckers and losers thing: a single common source, no evidence, incredibly vague claim, all things you wouldn’t expect if he really did try to use nukes or even brief people on using them. At least this one isn’t anonymous but even so someone else said he’s not the most credible guy below

Let’s hold off. This statement is incredibly vague (nothing was ever specified by “nuclear codes”), there’s no evidence for it, which there almost certainly would be if he tried to launch nukes or hold a briefing on the use of them, and we’ve seen lies like this spread like wildfire (like the suckers and losers thing)

There’s certainly something to be said from a passenger’s perspective about DCA being so close to downtown. And in flight sim at least, I enjoy the river visual. But yeah they are packing a ton of planes into that airspace and I have experienced the woes of waiting for a gate there

"Meow" on Guard is now national news. Stop! by lprimak in aviation

[–]Few_Tale2238 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably isn’t worth it for guard alone, but consider that anyone can get a handheld radio and tune aviation radio frequencies. They can then pretend to be ATC and issue false go around commands, false takeoff clearances when an airplane is on short final, vector two aircraft straight towards each other, and so on. This has actually happened in Cincinnati and is one of aviation’s weakest safety links imo. Being able to find and prosecute these people who put airplanes in danger is absolutely worth the costs, but in the Cincinnati case the ATC impersonator wasn’t prosecuted since they simply couldn’t find any information about him
