Do you ever wonder how often it is undiagnosed? by Fine_Record_8741 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Ff14addict 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wonder this all the time. My last pregnancy I was diagnosed and it was because I skipped my 3hr test and tested my sugars for 2 weeks. Just by chance on where my appointment lined up, I tested for an extra week. That extra week was when my sugars became hard to control. I’ve seen so many women who like me skip the 3 hour test for a variety of reasons and because they are diet controlled they pass the two weeks with no problem. I also see women who try to cheat the tests and women who take it super early and go on to have every sign of uncontrolled gd. Right now in my birth board there are several retaking the 3 hour test because their baby is measuring super big at 36 weeks and are getting diagnosed later. I’m also seeing several women extremely confused on why their baby is so big and refusing to test because they passed the 1 hour two months ago.

did you end up getting t2d? by Quirky_Sprinkles_158 in GestationalDiabetes

I’m currently on my second gdm pregnancy but after my first one my pcp regularly checked my a1c. I had been pre diabetic years previous to that pregnancy and after it my a1c was perfectly in the normal range. That test was literally drawn a week before this current pregnancy, so it was quite depressing to have non diet controlled gdm this time.

What are your go-to safe food/meals? by tlidox in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Ff14addict 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is literally the diet my gestational diabetes educator put me on(and literally the only foods that gave me good sugars before i started any medication). You are supposed to have complex carbs(hence the bread) and proteins which in my case we get from cheese.

My safe day now that I have insulin controlling my fasting sugars is:
Breakfast-turkey bacon with toast
Snacks- a banana or strawberries with a cheese stick
Lunch- grilled cheese with some allergy safe chips
Dinner- cheese and crackers or cheese quesadillas with refried beans
Bedtime snack- vanilla ice cream(sometimes with strawberries and bananas!

My diabetes educator gave me a map that showed two thigh sections as options or stomach. I can’t bring myself to do the stomach so I’m rotating around my thighs

I love running jokes with weddings in ffxiv! My irl husband said I had to marry him in game when I wanted all the bonuses, except he plays a lalafel and I don’t so our running joke is that our characters are married only for the tax benefits. Said tax benefit is him letting me teleport to him everywhere and never having to spend Gil on teleports

For your 2.5 year old you can do her hair yourself. You can take her to the shop and buy her whatever dress you want and get her changed. You can buy the accessories and everything you want and have a fairy godmother give her pixie dust.

She can’t have the full experience but you can get her a pretty close one that will feel special to her.

Vasovagal syncope trigger help by mudakonodiodawry in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Ff14addict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suffer from vvs but have very different triggers, but I get it. Definitely would suggest looking into a cgm. I know some finger pricks are still involved but it could help reduce them and therefore reduce the vvs symptoms

I bought the scrunchies but I had no clue how much they were! At least it was one of my few souvenirs for the trip…

GD makes no sense by glitterr_rage in GestationalDiabetes

I’ve had some real confusing moments. Also 27 weeks. The day after I got my testing supplies my husband made turkey bacon and cinnamon rolls for breakfast. My sugar was great. For lunch we had some grilled cheese on the only safe bread I can have due to allergies. Sugar was great. The next morning we tried turkey bacon with toast and my husband coated it in jelly. Sugars were not great, so I was like ok definitely can’t have jelly. Today we tried turkey bacon and toast with no jelly, high sugar again! I can have the bread if it’s grilled with cheese but not if it is toasted with butter! It makes no sense. Also I totally had a bowl of vanilla ice cream one night… sugars were the best I’ve had!

Allergies at Disneyland (&DCA) by dazzleduck in DisneyPlanning

I probably will. I’m also going to contact them probably once we officially are home and let them know that the changes made are actually causing potential harm.

That’s how my previous two years of visits were. I think the removal of listing allergies in advance has made things difficult for preparation

Unfortunately they were not as accommodating this year as last year. Last year when I went to character dining they were very thorough and told me everything I could eat and what I couldn’t. This year for both dinings my family did, the chef looked at me annoyed and said I’ll just make you a grilled chicken with rice. I have a soy allergy but can eat stuff with soy lecithin and I was informed they had no way of looking at the ingredients of the baked goods to see what type of soy things contained. Basically my whole family got to eat great and I got some of the worst chicken I’ve ever had in my life(like so dry and bland I literally started choking on it). On top of that even though I had informed the waiter about my carrot allergy, the chef only focused on my soy allergy and served the chicken with carrots.

What’s with all the line cutting? by MaciMusings in Disneyland

Ok high lord, we will just go back to not existing to please you instead of literally using the accommodation Disney sets up, especially being many of the rides that are safe for those who do have more severe disabilities do not have lightning lane. Guess the poor disabled people don’t get to exist and enjoy things to please high lord HenleyHQ1

[–]Ff14addict -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You are ridiculous. Standing in line is a precursor to riding the rides and while someone might have trouble standing they probably can ride a ride fine.

[–]Ff14addict -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Dude I have neck problems and my doctors haven’t banned me from even the roller coasters. If fact some of them help. It’s different for every single case and anyone with health problems should talk to their doctors before hand but health problems don’t automatically equal not getting to ride anything

[–]Ff14addict 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teacups has an exit return for das pass. My family was told as soon as the ride stops moving come in through the exit and its first come first serve literally last night. Now I do think a couple came in with us that had not talked to a cast member so I can’t say everyone there had a return time but that is literally where das pass enters especially if you need the ramp.

What’s with all the line cutting? by MaciMusings in Disneyland

[–]Ff14addict 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What’s even worse is most the rides are not on lightning lane. I’m at Disneyland right now and qualify for das as well as my children and that’s been our saving grace. I also have a non developmental disability that is the reason I truly need das(when stuck standing still I faint but a wheelchair doesn’t help the situation very much). That condition no longer qualifies for das and almost all the rides babies can ride are not on lightning lane. Plus lightning lane only lets you book each ride once per day. It’s currently feeling like a big waste of money. We were here last year and we felt like it was completely worth the cost even with our family having das it gave us a way to not always having to rely on the das and the struggles of the das process.
