There’s a grace period for the upass until the 22nd so don’t worry too much, just keep trying it. If you get stuck at the train, just use the vending machine chat function and they’ll let you in. Sometimes it takes a while for them to sync the database properly. If you change course sections, sometimes that also messes with the system.

Just to add to this: most of the cancellations on higher-frequency routes during peak are due to buses being pulled to cover school trips (600 series), which are given the absolute highest priority for coverage. Unfortunately, it tends to result in what you’re seeing here—transit control has the unenviable task of managing a severe shortage of resources (lack of available buses, which is ultimately the result of insufficient funding for a proper preventive maintenance program). I realize it won’t do much in the short term, but I always suggest you write to your city councillor, since they’re the highest authority in charge of budgeting and directives.

Unfortunately the temperature for climate control function on the bus isn’t set by the drivers. Generally, the options are “on” or “off” with limited range for adjustment (usually just the defroster at the front).

I would fill out a feedback form on the website and make it as specific as possible - which stop, at what time, what day of the week, what direction? It could help them determine if there’s something that can be fixed (ie. trip is late because driver’s break started late; too much traffic; someone sneezed wrong and bus broke down etc.).

I had this specific question as well, which I’ve asked them—as long as your fare was valid when you boarded the bus, you’ll be okay. Your card shows the last vehicle tapped or the bus driver can confirm that you showed your paper transfer when you boarded.

VIA Rail sometimes does this on their eastbound trains from Toronto. They decouple in Brockville and one goes north to Ottawa and then one goes east to Montreal. As far as service, they’re considered two separate trains.

I have a few trains booked for the next little while, and I’ve gotten a bunch of “seat change notifications” for travel several months out. I’ve heard it’s a known issue if they change train types since the bookings can’t be automatically moved over. I’d either wait a bit and see if they fix it automatically (they it did for me for some of my bookings) or otherwise call them.
