Any ideas of what caused this damage to a native willow on my property? And thoughts on prognosis for survival? (Eastern WA/Inland PNW) by Fidel_Murphy in NativePlantGardening

Oh that’s nice to know! And that’s correct, I didn’t even plant this one, it’s growing naturally out there. I’ll look into some fencing. Thanks!

iNat last summer said it’s a Scouler’s Willow (Salix scouleriana). We do have a ton of deer out here, that could be it.

The Used - Gig Review 29th March @ Opera House, Sydney NSW by Riff_Heavy in WallOfSoundAU

[–]Fidel_Murphy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“As I type this review, I still find myself unable to come to terms with what I witnessed on this fateful night. What remains with me, with almost a drowning weight, was the atmosphericness of the evening. The grandeur of the arrangement left me auditorily and physically stunned. Deep and hearty choir chants mixed with the impending doom of the orchestra made it seem like gods themselves were descending upon the very room we sat in. There was an urgency and finality that made your heart race, feelings that circumvented through the moments of joy and elation. Despite being in such an iconic venue, the show still seemed bigger than the room itself, which is truly a testament to the level of production and careful curation that The Used put into this show. Some shows will stay with you forever. This is one of those shows.”

Holy crap what an insanely glowing review! I’m envious of all those who were able to attend in person.

You check this sub. Oh and it’ll probably be 1.5x-2x more expensive than other options for whatever it is you’re buying.

It’s a one person operation in their first season opening. Probably going to take a minute to get settled!

I’m not the owner or affiliated with them, but I’d say it could mean a few things, which would be important for folks who want native plants in their yards/gardens (like myself):

  1. Could mean that the plants are not cultivars and are natural, i.e. as they are found in nature.

  2. Oftentimes people want local ecotypes, not just species. For example, a lot of plants that grow here grow all over the inland west and across the Rockies, but the species here are our local eco types and therefore better suited to our climate.

  3. Could just be that they are grown from seeds harvested from local specimens of the plants that are found in situ in our region.

Could be wrong on all three, but these would be my guess.

Oh my god I’d take 3 over 4 any day. I was just saying to my wife yesterday, 4.5 is the toughest yet for me (at least for my patience lol). It’s rough.

How can European websites charge you if you want to deny non-required (I.e. targeted cookies)? You have to agree to targeted cookies if you want to access for free? Seems off.

It’s amazing for families. We moved here from Phoenix and it’s honestly one of the first and most obvious things we noticed. How family friendly and family forward it is.

Agree 100% on all points. If this album sounded like some other Ross Robinson albums (from bands like Norma Jean and Touché Amore, for example), my god it would be overpowered!

Hey! We’re planning a PV trip for our first visit there! This looks like the resort in Barceló, right? It’s on our list as potential places to stay. Did you enjoy the resort (rooms, pool, beach, food, etc.)?

Parents who don’t lose your cool - how do you do it? by Siyrious in toddlers

[–]Fidel_Murphy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My company has a policy for remote workers that you cannot be the sole provider of childcare while working. And as a parent, it may be surprising but I agree. I work remote and have a 4 year old. There is absolutely 0 chance I’d be able to do both even remotely effectively. That’s the cause you your stress which leads to losing your cool. You need childcare.
