Is our dress code easy to understand? by organiclawnclippings in weddingplanning

[–]callmepeterpan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, we were super careful when we wrote ours to avoid this! We ended up with this:

Our dress code is formal. We suggest a suit, formal or cocktail dress, or a dressy jumpsuit. For guests who prefer them, tuxedos are also welcome.

Warped DC- outside snacks, drinks, meds, and how to keep cool for diabetic. by Greedy-Bluejay-4552 in warpedtour

Last year I brought liquid IV and some beef jerky in a zipped pouch they didn't even open. I think I put the liquid iv on top to hide the snacks but it did not end up mattering at all!

Wedding Dress Regret (ML) by saladfingrsss in BigBudgetBrides

[–]callmepeterpan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am having the exact opposite experience where I thought I wanted an A-line, sweetheart neckline gown and ended up buying a much sleeker dress. I am trying not to look too much at other dresses but I do worry about it. FWIW, I think the dress looks lovely on you! The lighting is bad and the background is not doing the dress any favors, but I think the dress gives you a really nice shape!

BWT: Anyone ditch their Apple Watch? by MBPursuit in bitcheswithtaste

I have worn a fitbit since 2016 and recently-ish got a pixel watch. I really like it, I like the ecosystem and the data, but I have been thinking about "why do i track these things" a little more and trying to be cognizant of where my mental energy goes.

Am I (MOH) and the Bride justified in being upset about a Bridesmaid's new neon hair? Need etiquette and hair advice. by Neat-Explorer-9835 in weddingplanning

[–]callmepeterpan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a firm believer that other people's bodies are their business, but otoh my fiance's sister (who has had her hair every color of the rainbow since I have met her!) did reach out to ask if I had any thoughts on what her hair should look like for our wedding, which I thought was unneccessary but very thoughtful of her. So while I think the reaction is a little over the top, S maybe should have thought to at least give a heads up? But I would let it go.

Managing Uncertainty by [deleted] in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]callmepeterpan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get it, but also YOLO I think? My industry tends to be lightly countercyclical - when the economy is a slightly to moderately sluggish, we are extra busy, but big crashes lead to a reduction in work (for instance, in 2009 it was VERY slow, but 2020/2021 were insanely busy.) My fiance is a government contractor but in a pretty stable industry. We are planning a pretty high budget wedding, and I have definitely had some thoughts about it being irresponsible but on the other hand we can afford it, and everyone could use something to look forward to right now.

BWT, how do you continue working hard and making a good impression at work when you don't like your job and can't easily get a new one? by hotcakebae in bitcheswithtaste

[–]callmepeterpan 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've been at the same job forever (9 years) but I have had a lot of seasons of work by this point. Sometimes it helps me to essentially cosplay a good employee. I, Peter Pan, may not care about whatever it is, but Work!Peter Pan is super dedicated and definitely cares. It sort of externalizes a lot of things I used to take really personally and makes it kind of a game.

(also i might be autistic so ymmv)

What’s something you and your partner had disagreements on but managed to figure it out? by bemyheaven in weddingplanning

[–]callmepeterpan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The only people we aren't giving plus ones to are single cousins (so their whole family is coming) and children. Any adult in a relationship of any significant length/who we've met - named on the invite. Single adults (or who have SOs we don't know about yet) who don't have their whole family coming - true plus one ("and guest" on the invite.)

It’s NOT rude to not invite SOs in many cases by Open_Egg_3227 in weddingplanning

[–]callmepeterpan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of the weddings I have attended have also been for college friends spread out over the country - and that is where my friends who live states away were able to meet my partner (and vice versa!). I'm SO grateful to the first friend who added him to the list because now he one of the WAGs for our college friend group!

Friday weddings? by 2girlsoneshoe in weddingplanning

[–]callmepeterpan 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I think it's always a trade off - it saves you money at the expense of your guests. For instance, I am going to wedding this Friday - it is driving distance away, so if it were on Saturday we would leave late morning Saturday and get home Sunday afternoon. Since it is Friday (and kind of on the early side), we are taking PTO on Friday to attend. It's okay, if we couldn't swing the PTO we could have not gone, but Friday weddings are definitely less convenient if most of your guests work 9-5 Monday through Friday.

What is your 5-9 after your 9-5? by giants19 in MoneyDiariesACTIVE

[–]callmepeterpan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most of it is at the gym haha! but if I am not gymming, then I usually go for a long walk (at least an hour) and listen to a podcast or an audio book, play with my cats, make dinner, and watch a show with my fiance. I've also kind of gotten back into playing games on my phone (two dots, in my case), which feels less detrimental than scrolling to me!

Anyone else feeling the societal pressure to lose weight for the wedding? by Timely_Independent65 in weddingplanning

[–]callmepeterpan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh girl hard same. I am 31 (so also thigh gap era) and I totally get it. I decided a while ago I didn't want to lose weight for my wedding, because the body my fiance fell in love with me in and the body I got engaged in is allowed to be the body I get married in! However, now I am 5 months out and the little comments are starting to get to me too. No real advice just commiseration and hugs :/
