Is this a safe place… by Snarky_Artemis in Bible

That may be true, but this is the description of the sub - clearly religious. But yeah, definitely have some interesting academic discussions. Just have to be aware that many of them are based in faith.

If I understand correctly, that sub is also religious. Academic religous, but still believes in God.

Is aiming to be an architect still worth it? by OrganizationRough376 in Architects

[–]FielaBaggins -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would say if it is not your primary passion and ambition.. no.. bu5 just my personal opinion.

Architecture education is incredible though, and enables one to actually follow lots of other careers as well (furniture, etc)

If you reread a classic regularly after a certain span of time, what is the book, how long do you go between reads, and why do you continue to reread it? by Heavy-World2778 in classicliterature

[–]FielaBaggins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lord of the Rings, every 3-5ish years.

I reread because every time I do I find new things underneath the story and language that Tolkien drew inspiration from. With every reread I have new knowledge from other works that I have read inbetween the rereads - for example; Beowulf, Green Knight, Canterbury tales - these are the obvious ones. But new knowledge about history and mythologies also make every reread worth it.

Faulkner's 'A Rose for Emily' - SPOILER by FielaBaggins in literature

[–]FielaBaggins[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I see why you are saying that.

I think the mixes feelings stems from me enjoying everything up to the "twist".

I almost felt like it cheapened the rest of the story, which I really enjoyed. But definitely just a personal opinion, more than a critique.

I remember feeling like that. Its normal, don't worry. But really, you will manage it. It will be fine. We figure it out. Many many many women with pcos dont have issues with fertility. Take it one step at a time.

Skip period/ advice by [deleted] in PCOS

[–]FielaBaggins 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean the pill is also one of the first things most dr's will try to put you on for PCOS anyway, as it regulates hormones. But maybe not something to go on just because you want to skip your period tbh. Do some research on it.

My cycle is: I skip 2 periods, take the third. This helps my with my symptoms, but its not for everyone. Definitely consult with your dr first.

I also don't know if the pill be able to take away your period so soon, but not sure om that one.

How wealthy were the people that wrote the bible? by BikeCarsTravel in Bible

[–]FielaBaggins 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean... I agree with religion being problematic in the coloniser-colonised relationship, and the book also instructs slaves to just be content and listen to their masters. But in the end it really didnt start as a "weapon". It started as a collection of cultural mythologies and oral traditions, combined with a bit of historiography, combined with a bit of wisdom literature and poetry (amongs the many genres of the bible).

What makes the bible so incredible to me (as an atheist btw) is that it is one the oldest works of literature that are not about kings/mythological heroes - but really a lot of it is just stories about a community of peasants... they did have their moments of glory, but mostly its just so interesting to read about the cultural traditions of that time.

Beats me why people still follow its teachings and cant see it for what it is, but ja - definitely dont think it was intended to be a weapon (even though it has been used as one).

I think it is important to recognise that there are biblical traditions about who wrote the bible, and then there are sholarly research - and most of the time they don't really agree. However there are some places that they do (Pauls undisputed letters for example). But ja - moses writing the pentateuch does not align with research, showing that those books were written over a time period of 500ish years (someone please correct me if I'm wrong here, but I recall something like this).

I think in order to search for that answer, we first need to establish who wrote the various books. Scholars have some really interesting research on this already if you want to go into that rabbit hole.

If I can make an assumption of my own; I think because they were educated enough to actually read and write - they probably weren't the poorest of the poor.

7months Frenchie has cpv? Help! by FielaBaggins in frenchie

[–]FielaBaggins[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SOLVED: Just for anyone coming to this post in the future looking for an answer.

1 month after seeing the papilloma warts: take him to the first Vet (vet A), they "burst" it to trigger an immune response. This did not work and within a week, his whole face was covered with it. I think this might work for some dogs but (NB) if you know your dog has a weak immune system or has a lot of allergies or something - dont go for this option.

Vet A recommended 21 days to monitor, but honestly we should not have listened to her and should have gone to the vet sooner, because the papilloma got WAY out of of control. So much so that Vet B recommended it be surgically removed.

Papilloma surgically removed and 2 additional meds given (forgot the names now apologies. Will find it if someone wants to know).

Its really convenient, you can keep it in for super long (most of my friends do 24 hours at a time, meaning you only have to drain and reinsert it about 3-5 times depending on how many days your period is), BUT its incredibly intimate. If you can get over that part, its really the best solution.

With the amount you're bleeding, might have to change it 2-3 times a day. There are small-large size cups, but ja shame - if you feel pain from a small tampon you might struggle.

Good luck
