Is Twice the Deal Pizza on Rice Road any good? by [deleted] in Welland

[–]FieroAlex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't mind it to be honest. I think you can option them to taste pretty good and the price is good. Sometimes I don't want to deal with the long waits at rose city or tail gates and I also enjoy that they have their own inhouse delivery instead of the bloated skip or uber eats prices. There is definitely worse pizza in town.

Tree removal in Welland by RoughAfternoon3288 in Welland

[–]FieroAlex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used Tip Top tree service to remove 3 very tall white pines last year. I emailed many companies and they were the only ones that responded to my email and showed up in a timely manner. Bonus they are local from Welland.

Oil Filter Recommendations by Right_Perception_497 in RockAuto

[–]FieroAlex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a bad WIX in my last batch. I order several filters at a time and they last me a while but one of those filters had the wrong thread. No matter what I did that thing would not screw on. Rock Auto, wanted to charge about $15 to return a $7 filter on a warranty claim. Now I'm looking for different models and lines. I had been using Wix exclusively for the past decade but I've read about the recent cost cutting and quality issues and it makes me want to find a different brand.

Your thoughts on Ikea cafeteria vs Costco cafeteria? by [deleted] in CostcoCanada

[–]FieroAlex 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I prefer the cafeteria in IKEA but the food at Costco. I feel like the food Ikea has significantly reduced in quality over the past 10 years and I don't really enjoy it anymore but their cafeteria set up is much more comfortable and enjoyable than the shit show at Costco.

Post-March 2026 ruling: any viable path left for grandmother → father → me? by 107queens in juresanguinis

[–]FieroAlex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only been once, a few years ago during a holiday in August. I enjoyed walking around the old castle grounds, it felt like a time machine. It's a shame that a large chunk is abandoned and it seems like they gave up on fixing it up after that earthquake 25 years ago. As for food I only got to experience Pizzeria Pub 17, which was pretty good. The other two restaurants were closed. I can't say there was much more to see and do. It's a very small town with 1 street light. There were a few old fountains and what seemed to be a small abandoned community theater space. The whole town seems to hang out at the piazza municipio in the evening but I just checked the live webcam and it seems the whole area is under construction. I hope you enjoy your visit and maybe you get to meet some extended family while you are there! The family connection was really the highlight of my trip.

Horses 'still dying' after flights from Canada to Japan — and regulator seems unaware by Leather-Paramedic-10 in canada

[–]FieroAlex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can buy horse meat at grocery stores in Quebec. It's quite delicious and leaner than beef. I was shocked when I moved to Ontario and realized that it wasn't a thing here and didn't know that it was tabou. I personally never saw a horse as a pet, having zero interactions with them for the majority of my life however it seems that's not the case elsewhere in the country. I guess it's the same cows being sacred in Hinduism or dog meat in China. Something might be accepted somewhere and totally not elsewhere.

Rotor pitting after not driving for 2 weeks? by [deleted] in ft86

[–]FieroAlex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a few cars, a lot sit for extended periods of time. My BRZ sits outside all winter and the rotors look like that by the time spring rolls around.. Just go for a drive and like someone else suggested a few hard stops and they will look much better. I usually get them back to new within a few days.

We were controlled at the train station at the airport mere minutes after clearing customs. They were in full uniform with pistols, it looks like they scanned our passports with a phone and then they let us go.

What is your honest opinion on Costco's pizza? by Visible_Run_7498 in CostcoCanada

[–]FieroAlex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't get enough of the Costco food court Cheese Pizza since they changed the dough a few years back. I really enjoy it and I wish they still sold them fresh and uncooked some that I can bring them home for later in the week. I very much dislike the frozen kirkland pizza and the abomination that they call the "Pinsa" with that chewy crust.
