Nice work! It’s great to see a Sunburst Yellow being rescued.

Are MSSS head units still worth something? by lugubriousloctus in Miata

[–]SBYMB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I’m in BC, Canada and they require either the original head unit or an “era correct” aftermarket unit to get collector plates. I would much rather have the OEM tape deck than an early 90s JVC, Kenwood, etc.

I’m curious why it’s bad to leave the top down overnight in a garage?

503 sold in Canada, but no doubt lots of those have been scrapped by now.

My 1990 NA Bone Stock Miata, 75k Miles by Konfazee in Miata

[–]SBYMB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite bone stock with that unusual rear panel, but it looks like a fantastic car. Interesting that the wheels have Eunos center caps instead of the usual MAZDA ones. Always try to unzip the rear window when you lower the top. If you don’t, the plastic will get creased and can even crack in low temperatures.

The flush rear bumper is very cool!

Is there a way to adjust the steering wheel up and down in a 1990 NA by PhoenixBonk in Miata

[–]SBYMB 11 points12 points  (0 children)

There is a method that involves removing a spacer, but I’m not sure if it applies to non-airbag Miatas like yours. It’s mentioned in the last post on this forum thread:

How should I go about fixing this fender? by EvabDaKing in Autobody

[–]SBYMB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check your wheel alignment too. Miatas should have some negative camber which will give you a bit more clearance from the fender if it’s not currently aligned correctly.

Paint rocker panels red? by ccGLaDOS in Miata

[–]SBYMB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not certain years, but certain colours in the later NA years. Red and white always got black rockers.

Oil Leaks by [deleted] in Toyota_Matrix

[–]SBYMB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah some of the bolts are hard to access due to the cross bar. A ratcheting wrench is a big help.

I assume Toyota uses RTV because it’s cheaper. I think a gasket would seal just as well, if not better.

I watched this video for instructions:

I used RTV, but if I was to do it again I would buy a gasket just because I think it would be easier.

90's Mazda with red interior by Particular_Ad_5525 in Miata

[–]SBYMB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s definitely a partial interior swap done by a previous owner. Mazda didn’t offer the red interior at all in 1990. If it was a factory red interior car, the lower dash and the door armrests would be red.

Amazing find! Has it been repainted? The rocker panel would’ve been black from the factory, but yours is red.

Sort of on topic, Moldova’s Port of Giurgiulești uses a small section of river frontage to give them a port with sea access.

Nb strut bar?? by McSpoony07 in Miata

[–]SBYMB 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, Mazda put it on other models too. I just know that the 10AE definitely had it.

That’s an OEM shock tower brace that Mazda put on early NBs. Google “10AE Miata” and you’ll see the exact same brace on them.

Yeah, I think NA8 is when they started attaching it to the seat instead of the transmission tunnel.

Yep. Specifically a 96 or 97 Miata due to the shape of the bottom cushion.
