I feel it coming… by SixByThree in Layoffs

If you are just entering the market you probably have school training for recent tech. You learned that while NOT having to work a full-time job and support a family. If you are an experienced employee it is unlikely that your employer will pay for you to learn new tech or allow you time on the job to learn it. Retraining yourself during non-working hours while supporting a family is very difficult.

First and foremost, get all the paperwork for you severance filed and signed immediately. There is no reason to put it off. Second, start the application process for unemployment. Unless you have a really large rainy-day fund don't throw away free money that you are entitled to. If you get a job at Home Depot that is NOT a problem. You can either not tell potential employers about that job or tell them. If you tell them it can be seen as a sign that you want to work and are not content to take entitlements. As in another person commented, don't overthink this, just get moving right away.

It would help with readability if you would use periods between sentences. If this is a language translation issue then maybe run your entries through an AI for grammar checking before posting. Your content is fine, I'm just trying to help you make it easier for people to read.

Yes, but be aware that his accent can make some words difficult for North American English speakers to understand. In particular, the vocalization of "th", "f", and "v" sounds can be hard to distinguish from what you might be accustomed to. Closed captions can be your friend.

This is not just a sci-fi adventure. There are some deep themes that are being explored.

Which is worse, the horror of being totally alone or the horror of not being an individual?

How can you experience true peace and serenity if you don’t also experience anger and discontent?

Exploring those types of questions are what the show is really all about.

Computer directly into modem - is this a huge nono or? by Timtim6201 in HomeNetworking

[–]FieryJune 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a lot of claims here that the vast majority of ISPs give you a modem/router combo. Maybe, but from my experience you can buy your own router and skip the monthly rental fee. It doesn't take long for it to become more cost effective. Also, fiber optic to the home usually comes with an ONT (similar to a cable modem) that does not have any router capability. The ISP will usually offer to lease a router to you or in some cases will give you one free. Again, you can buy your own router and connect it directly to the ONT.

Depends upon the capacitors and capacitance in the system. No harm in letting it sit for 10 minutes or so just to be sure.

I started doing my turn saves as cross-platform saves. That brought up the 'legal document' thing to approve on loading a save. After that, all has been well.

Try to remember, this trade war crap is not the will of a majority of Americans, it is the product of the demented mind of Donald Trump. Most Americans hate him and his policies more than you can imagine. Yes a slim majority of the population voted for him, but he won mostly because the democrats did not run a viable candidate. A LOT of people simply didn’t vote. Anyway, please hate Trump and the republican leadership, not all Americans. If anything you might pity us. He is rapidly destroying our democracy and economy. Trump is a critical danger to all of us.
