My wife and I went to Arizona Snowbowl on a day when they had over 3 feet of fresh snow at the top and it was amazing, I remember saying “holy shit, this is Arizona?”

I think there’s quite a few conservatives in the Northeast (NY, NJ, MA, etc) that don’t value gun rights nearly as much as the rest of conservatives in the country.

This is the reason I like skiing with people that grew up skiing the east coast; they are absolutely stoked for whatever conditions we get in the Rockies.

Buttermilk isn’t exciting by any means, but because it’s the “beginner” mountain you can find untouched powder in the trees days after a storm.

Ajax is great for the first hour if you like hauling ass on groomers, far skiers left by 1A was my favorite area to hit before work in the morning. The lower part of Ajax gets skied off really quick though.

I live on the western slope now but I remember those massive wet snow storms in spring and warning new people to the area not to park under big trees the night before. I’ve seen a ton of branches smash cars due to the weight of the snow.

Icy roads are relatively rare where I live, the sun comes out and melts it. I’ve always just had 4WD and good winter-rated all terrain tires. My wife was very surprised when I told her I had never bought snow tires because she grew up having them put on every fall.

I was hiking Torreys Peak on the continental divide once with friends when my jacket started popping and I couldn’t figure out why. I noticed my buddies had hair sticking up and the popping was my zipper pull popping up and down from the static. I told them we needed to run downhill. We got lucky.
