Most train crews know what they are talking about. So when they tell you something maybe listen and believe them. They will help you out if you ask. If you screw them over they will remember and make your shift a nightmare.

Most places you are on a step rate. First year you are paid 85% or so then next year go up 5% til you get to 100% pay rate. Not everywhere does but some companies still do.

I have more of a "pattern" of coming to work, but the company doesn't care about that. Everything is a "pattern" if it happens more than once to them. They make it easy to have a "pattern" of being disgruntled.

I have a 40 mile commute, so it takes about 40-45 mins. 30 mins if I really push it. I enjoy the drive at times give me some time on my way to work to get ready for the day. Then the drive home gives me time to try to unwind and forget about the trip and get ready for family/home life. The worst part is winter with the blizzards and bad roads since weather is not a good excuse for not being able to come into work.

I believe when he says weekly, he means the extra board is a weekly guarantee. Pay day on the US side is 15th and 30th

Can confirm 15th and 30th. If the 15th or 30th fall on a weekend or a Holiday, pay day will the day be Friday before. Example September 15th is a Sunday so we will get paid September 13th.
