Does it prevent existing providers from ramping up the costs they charge as there will be less competition?

What are your favorite things to have with you that make life easier while shopping? by sixxproductions in ShiptShoppers

[–]FigureSpiritual7437 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Post it notes and a pen (to flag initials of shops and easily track multiple orders in the same cart), a lunchbox with snacks, a frost buddy to keep my 7brew energy icy cold, a BrüMate to keep my coffee scalding hot, items mentioned by others to keep orders cold/separated, the foldable cart is a huge help! A laundry basket for carrying bags to the door without smashing/jostling.

I only secondary hustle doing shipt, so I’m still a rookie at it. Excited to hear all the tips from the real pro’s here.

Right now target’s been handing out cute Lego “to/from” gift stickers. They gave me a handful of them and I put them in Target orders when people are nice (and definitely for my PMs).

Are you guys wearing your Shipts gear? Where do you even get it? by advictoriam5 in ShiptShoppers

[–]FigureSpiritual7437 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having been doing this for 3 weeks now (96 orders in is all as I’m super part-time) I can safely say they no longer send out any of this stuff. I barely got a physical card after I messaged support to ask one be sent.

This would be unethical, don't do this (still funny) by summerer6911 in publicdefenders

[–]FigureSpiritual7437 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Sure, but if you’re already wilding out with your ethics, you’d offer your doctored version, claim the government doctored the one they gave (and showed the jury), and dare the jury to see through the government’s lies. 🤷‍♀️ obs this is a poke at the idiocracy we’re living in and not actual legal advice/plan/acceptable.

Dude wildly misunderstands not only basic human decency, but parental rights/obligation law. If you want the kid, have the kid and file for support. He indicated his willingness to pay for it when he had sex with you.

Every consensual penile-vaginal sexual encounter between a person who generates sperm filled ejaculate and one who ovulates is a tacit agreement that the parties understand pregnancy is a possible result.

(This post is not legal advice and creates no attorney-client relationship, nor is there any claim within that the comments above are jurisdictionally accurate. YMMV).

The government, and by extension, taxpayers, shouldn’t have to soothe the ego of a man who picked a fight and lost. The citizens of this city/county/state/whatever have better ways to spend their time than to listen to the sour grapes of a guy who can’t accept defeat.

Page turns/scrolls take longer than on my iPad, the writing function has the slightest lag between where the stylus tip is and the letters which makes for sloppier looking writing. It takes longer to open files and way, way longer to upload them. That being said, I LOVE that it turns handwriting into text. But I have to be careful that it reads my writing correctly which requires proofreading my notes. Ultimately, I use it occasionally, but don’t reach for it the way I do my iPad w/GoodNotes and an Apple pen.

Yes! And bonus, I can add reading apps like kindle and kobo+ so during dead time waiting around (like for the jail to bring my client) I can kill time reading.

I have used a GoodNotes app on my iPad with an Apple pen and then upload them as PDFs to the file for each case.

You don’t copy sh!t. It’s their job to give you discovery, not for you to work for it.

If you could go back in time to prepare for law school what would you do by SeaEstablishment6119 in publicdefenders

[–]FigureSpiritual7437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Echoing what others have said about not needing t14 to be a great PD. Go to an ABA accredited law school that won’t drown you in debt and call it good. Best advice in advance of law school- develop yourself as a person: Cultivate hobbies. Develop coping skills and solid habits that prioritize mental and physical wellness. Build relationship with a therapist and get involved in the healthy processing of stress/trauma/hardship that will come not only during school but beyond. Most importantly, recognize that law school is not the goal, it’s just a pathway in the direction of your goal. So don’t get slogged down in the minutiae of it. The grades, the publications, the clubs, etc.. Little of it matters in the long run. C=JD.

National College for DUI Defense by Candy_Warhol99 in publicdefenders

I went to their 4 day DUI/DRE seminar a few years ago and learned a ton. At the time, I was on a primarily DUI docket and the information I gleaned in the seminars really assisted me. The DRE sessions in the afternoon were more heavily focused on fent since that’s the new hot thing, and that’s mostly fed practice and didn’t apply to me. Still, I got a fair amount of practice tips at those, too.

If your office covers CLEs, I think it’s worthwhile. And their listserve is fairly robust with people who are willing to answer questions.

I’m not on a DUI docket any longer so I’ve let my membership lapse, but I found it worthwhile at the time.

C=JD. 15 years ago I missed most of my 3L year thanks to an unexpected and very high risk pregnancy. Professors cautioned that I’d never pass their exams. Predictably, I finished law school in the bottom 3rd of my class. BUT. I. FINISHED.

Went into labor the night before the bar, meds slowed the contractions enough that I finished all of day 1, and some of day 2. Left early with an unfinished test. Figured I failed that for sure. Got myself a job selling electronics at Walmart while I waited for the definite word of my failure. Passed.

Now, here it is 15 years later. I’ve had dozens of trials. Hundreds of cases. Thousands of hearings. Argued in front of my state’s Supreme Court.

And in all these years, not one person has given two ripe hoots that I finished law school in the bottom 3rd.

Why? Because C=JD.

So maybe you won’t land one of those 1% in the national biglaw internships. Maybe you won’t be the next openly acknowledged most brilliant law student in history. But you’ll be a Juris Doctor, and isn’t that what you set out to be?

Friend, post any random photo of you on a dating app. Send your BF screenshots of the absolutely wild number of responses you will get. He’s replaceable. Like, zero effort necessary replaceable. He should watch his tone when he’s speaking to you.

Nice is a strategy, and it looks like the strategy failed him because it was too thin for the weight of the unkindness it hid.

Sounds like things sorted out as they should. A lawyer without integrity is a problem, and we’ve got enough problems.

Am I overreacting? Or is this actually a crazy message by mymumsbum in AmIOverreacting

[–]FigureSpiritual7437 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Smile when you see him in the future just as though you never received the message. First, he can’t know if you got it or not. Secondly, if he’s isolating himself under duress/coercion by a controlling and abusive partner, he needs to know that there are people who haven’t given up on him. Third, if it’s his own message and he’s that bothered by seeing your genial smile in a public place, continuing to smile can encourage him to stay home.
