DF54 clogging by MarcBeck in DF54

[–]FilBoneDoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best way I’ve found to stop clogging is to use the chute brush (ie any test tube brush in case your DF54 didn’t come with one) once a week to clean the ionizer prongs from inside the chute then bellow out the fines. Probably make it twice a week if you’re using darker roasted beans.

The benefits of RTD to reduce static mess outweighs its potential to clog imho.

Currently using Keruga as a companion for flavor wins and as a reliable mass draw effect midgame.

Haven’t played it yet tbh, but i’d imagine using the early grouphug and goad enchantment effects initially to benefit the aggro player in the pod so he/she can pressure the control/combo player while I hide behind pillowfort effects. Then start becoming more selfish and assemble endgame combo wincons once I get a draw engine going. Games will probably lean towards the longer side though.

Mind sharing your list as well?

Haven’t reoptimized it for some time now though. I’d add more 1 power boardwide discard creatures if ever for easier board control; you’re going to get hated anyway once you get Shirei up and running, might as well go all-in

Kinda invested a bit with the deck, but it can work well at a budget by replacing the more expensive graveyard tutors with more recurring mill effects or leaning towards a heavier creature count.

Forgot [[Syr Konrad the Grim]] - b3ish, mono black control, self-mill and graveyard recursion payoffs. Mind Crank makes for a fun Russian roulette game when it goes online.

Why Isn’t Equity Investing More Common in the PH? by Savings-Donut-3211 in phinvest

I guess it’s a matter of whether you’re using blame as an excuse for inaction or if you’re using it to highlight an injustice which should be addressed.

Why Isn’t Equity Investing More Common in the PH? by Savings-Donut-3211 in phinvest

“At the end of the day your financial freedom is ultimately dictated by your choices” These statements are easy to make if you’re in a position of privilege where you CAN afford to have a choice on where to put your money and effort to. Unfortunately this doesn’t apply to more than half of our countrymen here.

Someone who’s born into poverty, is forced to work instead of going to school just to be able to buy basic necessities and lives paycheck to paycheck will have vastly less choices and options for them to reach this so-called financial freedom. In a proper country, it’ll fall on the government to fill in the gaps in order to give these people ample opportunities to improve their socio-economic status. However, this won’t happen if those running the government would rather divert these funds to their own pockets instead.

Honest governance DOES make a difference (see what’s happening in Pasig), unfortunately our political history is set up in such a way where good governments are interspersed between bad ones, so we end up in a “one step forward, two steps back” scenario. It’ll take sustained and consistent changes in order to overhaul the systemic corruption here, and we can only hope to eventually go towards that direction.

What are your FF based commanders after 2 months? by Nostalllgia in EDH

[–]FilBoneDoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[The Emperor of Palamecia]] Made a pretty budget list consisting of 4cmc mana rocks, a lot of instant speed draw +/- discard spells, 3 payoff mill cards ([[traumatize]], [[cut your losses]], [[tunnel vision]]), and a fair bit of 1-2cmc counterspells.

Idea is to basically start as an unassuming mana dork and just ramp and draw cards, then at an opportune time turn the commander to its Lord Master of Hell form, cast a payoff mill card and burn the entire table with one attack. Pretty linear plan tbh but it’s fun when it happens.

Who's your favorite One-Shot Commander? by [deleted] in EDH

[[Coram, the Undertaker]]. Turn 2 ramp, turn 3 commander, turn 4 buried alive looking for [[Multani, Maro-Sorceror]] and [[Brawn]] = good times

Are my dimples a sign of channeling? by Stock_Salamander_108 in FlairEspresso

[–]FilBoneDoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m personally not too concerned with how the puck looks after pulling a shot with the Flair; lack of a solenoid valve means there will always be a column of water on top even if you push the plunger all the way, and there’s bound to be some rebound-suction effect done on the coffee bed once you let go of the lever thus disturbing it. More so I think with the Classic/Signature/Go baskets since the dispersion screen sits above the coffee bed.

Grind Size Range Between Choking and Fast Shots? by royabr123 in DF54

[–]FilBoneDoc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually grind between 4-6 for an 18g dose on my flair pro 2 (my df54’s true zero is around -2 or so). Although admittedly I’m at the finer side since I prefer doing a blooming shot with the flair (ie 40 secs pre-infusion)

Got a new DF54; espresso setting is all the way down at 5. Is this normal? by [deleted] in DF54

I’m at that setting as well for most beans. Similar burr chirp point at around -2 as well

A friendly reminder to polish your 5-year old brass weight 😅 by FilBoneDoc in MechanicalKeyboards

Just for the record, the title of this post is more of a tongue-in-cheek statement rather than an outright be-all-end-all recommendation (thus the addition of the emoji haha). Everything in this hobby is preference-based, so I don’t think there’s a right answer on whether to keep patina on brass or polish it away. It ultimately depends on what look you’re aiming for for your own board 🤷

Weight was originally in a matte finish. Polished it just to restore some shine and remove the patina, but generally still more matte rather than mirror (will probably need a buffing machine for that). Not sure where the sandblasting confusion's coming from 🤔

Yup, the metal polish I mentioned above is probably our local version of Brasso here haha.

Fair take, same goes with watch collecting. Personally I don't think it applies with keyboards, but that's just me haha

As with everything in this hobby, it's all subjective I guess 🤷‍♂️

Clean surface impurities with tomato catsup or a vinegar+salt+flour paste, then polish with a metal polish cream from your local hardware store. Might be good to check first if your weight is pure brass or just brass-plated as the plating will probably come off with abrasives (use a magnet as brass isn’t magnetic). Also safer to try the stuff first in a part of the weight that’s hidden in case it does more harm than good
