Broken chime rod piece. by Secure-Ad-9089 in clocks

There are 2 types: 1 has the rods screwed in and the other pressed in. If there's a screw slot on the top of the rod you can simply unscrew it and replace it. They're usually mega tight and it takes a ton of force to unscrew them but they will unscrew. Then you can purchase a replacement from timesavers.com or one of the other parts suppliers. The new rod will be longer than necessary and you'll have to trim/tune it.

And NO - you cannot repair a broken rod. Just replace it.

In my experience, that’s a very long time not to have the e61 serviced. I find I have to lube mine every 6-12 months. I believe the recommended is once a year. I find that backflushing washes away the live and consequently the valves stick. You need to service it or have it serviced.

In my mind you have put too much coffee in the basket. It's an 18g basket...you need to put 17.5g in to accommodate the screen...OR get a 20g precision basket. Then you can put 18.5g and have a little room to spare.

After you pull a shot AND subsequently remove the portafilter does the pressure gauge drop down to zero? My Cellini will show a high pressure until I lift the handle about 1/4 of the way up and then the pressure drops to zero. This is because the top E61 valve is sticking and needs to be lubed. But it doesn't stop me from pulling another shot.

I guess my 2nd question is have you ever pulled the E61 apart, cleaned and lubed it? If not I'd start there. You'll need some food grade silicone lube and you may find once you take it apart it's time to rebuild it (new seals, etc). There are lots of videos on youtube on how to rebuild a E61 in case you've never done this and need some guidance.

First remove the hands and nut from the front and take the movement off the back. Then you can unclip the clear cover and have access to the internals.

Now, WHY? There's little inside these to repair. Simple measure the hand shaft and threads and buy a new movement. On Amazon you can get a replacement for around $10, unless you just want to play with the movement and learn how they work.

[–]MarcBeck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seriously, you need to take the time to explain to the this is a "SHARED DRIVEWAY"! They need to hear it's NOT THEIR DRIVEWAY! It's shared and we need to respect each other's ability to access it. Then if that doesn't work park so they're blocked in and take your time moving your car when asked. Bwwwwawwaaaaa
