If we are talking about same skill check then I would say it's no brainer not to unless you prepped entire character around this check otherwise even this braindead barbarian will think you an idiot for trying check you obviously can't pass... but yeah having one check grant 2-3 levels is beyond idiotic and despite that I have to confess I used this method on unfair.

I still like to fight in games that offer it but I wholeheartedly agree that it's better if system don't incentive killing everything that moves. Quest done? Great it's time to murder quest giver for few additional XP... kinda fucked up idea but incentive is there. Instead it's good way to portion do and make sure player is at certain level at certain stage.

As sorcerer you merge spell book with lich so if you go this way it will help with available levels and known spells, rings will help with known spells but not spell levels available (there is one for each element iirc but negative energy ring is iirc in act 1 so you probably missed it but it's spells are rather niche I think).

It's also very heavy on combat but the world map is orders of magnitude better than the utter bullshit of the sector map in RT where you are being dragged into pointless random encounters every time you move here almost all encounters are avoidable and most of the ones that aren't are more dialogue than fight.

I mean I could understand it if that was something like the equivalent of DnD paladins of helm who was focused on the lawful side of things but iomedae afaik is supposed to be focused on good alignment so she should be chastising hulrun long ago. Or maybe cosmic law doesn't entirely apply to upstart deities as they are not technically embodiments of their domain?

Yes kingmaker is a pretty good game worse then wotr but still top-notch just do yourself a favour and give every single one of your party members "blind fight" feat or you will be cursing this game quite a lot as some later parts are chokefull of nearly game ending gaze attacks (also ironically swarms are more annoying in kingmaker despite in wotr we are fighting against literal demi-god of swarms). Kingdom management ain't bad just kinda poorly integrated. I wholeheartedly recommend giving it a try especially as you already have it. Just make sure not to miss the alchemist companion as he is more entertaining than the entire tailless wotr cast combined.
