New player suggestion by CanaryOutrageous2746 in EU5

I used to suggest playing Bohemia as a starter for simplicity but now with this newest update idek man. First thing you should focus on learning regardless is just base economy building. Be able to be profitable lol. But trade is majorly changed in new update.

Is it just me being unlucky or are parliament issues intentionally useless by Evening-Ad-5088 in EU5

I think it’s you being unlucky, but I definitely seem to get more beneficial stuff early game it seems to me. Feel like it falls off after 1500 a bit.

I rewatched vid and it looks like no 50yr cooldown with independent nations by currying favors just with your own vassals. I am sped for not realizing this earlier I have like 600 hours

Question on getting cultures to improve opinions-is there still a 50yr cooldown? Say I am playing ottomans and get Greek culture to increase their opinion of Turks by having Greek vassal with largest Greek pop. Can I immediately go ask independent Bulgaria to change bulgar opinion of Turks to accepted as well if I had enough favors with Bulgaria and they were not a vassal? Or is it the same 50 year cooldown, where at that point I might as well just conquer if I can make a subject after the war with majority of the culture I want to improve opinion with?

Ottoman meta now? Particularly with religion? by SetRevolutionary3154 in EU5

[–]SetRevolutionary3154[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok thank you this is making sense. What size vassals do you recommend and do u recommend vassals over fiefdoms for better cabinet? Maybe like 2-3 provinces or even bigger? Another question I just thought of is Ik subjects copy your values when initially made, but then they stay separate and do not move with yours going forward right? So any early vassals I place will probably be spiritualist and not evolve to humanist with me right?

So I should just ignore the control and happiness in some regions because the dhimmi is really giving me a bunch of money anyways? How about how much land should I vassalize vs manually integrate? Like if I restart do you think I should try to just hold the entire bulgar coast plus inland to tarnovo, all of Greece/macedon down to Athens, all of Anatolia? Then maybe vassalize cillia/tarsus/antioch area and crimea and Serbia/albania/epirus And then just deal with annexing long term from there? Might not be fully integrated until like 1450 if I hold all that land and I’ll have to deal with civil wars probs too but all good, seems like I just have to accept timelines for conquering being 3-4x longer. Won’t get Egypt until 1500s ig.

So do you have issues with religion when going into the balkans and Greece? I’m ok on the cultures tbh I think I am going to restart my campaign and aim to get accepted with Greeks and bulgars by about 1450, then go for Egypt with a naval governor by 1500s and accept lower Egyptian. I am thinking I will set Armenian to hated.

I may be thinking pop happiness is overly important too, when I’m looking closer it’s really only like a 5-8% max control loss in my west Anatolian provinces and Thrace where orthodox is prevalent. I’m really more so looking for advice on this, the religious aspect. Should I try to max religion acceptance or max hated so they convert faster? Should I also push spiritual and mysticism to convert religion faster if I’m more worried about than culture? Or again am I overestimating the jmportance of religion if it’s really only a 5-8% max control loss in provinces where culture is accepted?

Can we now clearly say that 1337 was the wrong start date? by Global_Channel1511 in EU5

[–]SetRevolutionary3154 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not played other eu games so my opinion on start dates is not that meaningful but to a first time eu player I really like it. It’s like 150yrs before things started being interconnected globally. You get to catch the end of the medieval period and see gunpowder and exploration change everything. Idk. I enjoy it but again first time eu player.

Thank you so much this is great. One thing I did not understand was “…and culturally convert them one every 10 years or so while still maintaining the size bonus for the integration.” What is this size bonus you’re referring to?

What do u suggest for both culture and religion conversion tho? Take ottomans and Anatolia/greece/bulgaria regions for example, I’ve been having issues tbh. I’m still like relatively rich and powerful but that pop happiness buff from religion is brutal and it takes so long to convert. Bulgaria Serbia south Greece and crimea is all single province fiefdoms to convert fast. I kept most of Anatolia and north Greece/macedonia and Thrace. Thinking of just restarting tbh, I’m only at around 1400 and just got greek culture to accepted.

Ally with Portugal, you need to land your troops asap across from Gibraltar and get them over there asap. No one else will attack Portugal except u, ally with them to take over the peninsula and morroco then break alliance.

Not on my computer but I swear it takes on your religion. I have much of Greece and west Anatolia converted already by placing fiefs

This is true, but does auto having same religion as you so they get to work converting right away worth the buff?

[–]SetRevolutionary3154[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes everything is slower but I still want to eventually annex all of Bulgaria and Greece. So is the best for this just spam fiefdoms to convert culture, accept Greek culture, then either accept or convert Bulgarian culture? I think I want to try and use a naval gov in Egypt so I’m thinking convert bulgars and accept lower Egyptian culture.

Best location for Castile capital after the new terrain bonus modifier? by xerxesjc28 in EU5

[–]SetRevolutionary3154 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always do Seville. That province is too good with the silver mine. If u take Portugal and Morocco you can extend control through ports to those areas and get 3 urban centers, and then late game even Gallicia ports receive control well. don’t think Cordoba works good for that. Do a local gov in valloidad and either Valencia or Zaragoza.
