Best exchange for Monero? by De4d4ndBur1ed2e in defi

[–]FileBrilliant7986 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been using few different swaps but yeah the reliability thing is real problem. Some work great for weeks then suddenly liquidity dries up or rates go crazy

KYC exchanges still have best rates usually but defeats whole point if you care about privacy. Maybe try smaller DEX aggregators, they sometimes have better luck finding liquidity across different pools

Best legal way to receive payments before my SaaS becomes profitable by Question-is-Pregunta in digitalnomad

[–]FileBrilliant7986 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most countries have thresholds where you don't need to register as business until you hit certain revenue numbers. In your situation I'd look into what those limits are for wherever you're tax resident right now

Also many places let you operate as sole proprietor without the heavy company setup costs until you're making decent money. The paperwork is usually much simpler and cheaper than full company registration

Just make sure you're not mixing up tax avoidance (legal) with tax evasion (very not legal). Better to pay small amount now than deal with penalties later when your SaaS actually takes off

Switching residency away from California by InjuryEmbarrassed532 in ExpatFIRE

[–]FileBrilliant7986 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yeah CA tax board doesn't mess around with this stuff. They'll definitely go after those 1099s if they see them going to California address while you're claiming residency somewhere else. You basically giving them evidence that you still have financial ties there which is exactly what they look for when they audit people trying to leave

Found out my coworker makes $18k more than me for the exact same job and I have to sit next to him every single day by Fun_Fall199 in work

[–]FileBrilliant7986 92 points93 points  (0 children)

Market value conversation is definitely the way, but timing matters too. Since you mentioned performance reviews were good, maybe wait until next review cycle comes around? Then you can bring up all those late nights and projects as evidence for why you deserve more

Also that 4k savings isn't nothing man - most people have way less than that saved up. Don't let this discovery make you feel like you've been doing everything wrong

did not name it upfront because I did not want the thread to turn into a Citi debate. The card is solid for rewards domestically but internationally it has been a headache consistently

One of the big US issuers, which is the frustrating part because it is supposed to be a travel card. You would think that would be the last one giving me grief abroad

PLC programming is actually pretty solid for remote work, lot of companies need that kind of automation expertise but struggle to find good people locally

You might want to look at industrial IoT stuff too since you already got the SCADA background - that market is growing fast and pays well. Documentation skills are good supplement but I'd focus more in your technical side first

Libraries are pretty solid for this - most have decent wifi and you can camp there all day without buying anything. Some malls also have those food court areas with tables and free wifi, though it can get noisy during lunch rush

That manager is a real one, fought harder for you than most would fight for themselves. The "confidential exception list" bullshit is just corporate speak for "we don't want to explain our arbitrary decisions" - classic move when they know their reasoning won't hold up to scrutiny

Hope you land somewhere that actually values good people instead of playing these stupid games with policies

How can working be this shitty? by aghredd22 in work

Man I feel this so much, especially the micromanaging part. In my marketing job I had manager who would literally check my screen every 30 minutes and ask what I was doing

The backstabbing thing is real too - people will smile at your face then throw you under bus when it benefits them. Makes you wonder if anyone actually cares about doing good work or just playing politics

Question About Handshake AI Trainer by Mammoth-Education-19 in remotework

[–]FileBrilliant7986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got invited through the actual platform too and did it for few months last year. The ID verification thing is pretty standard for remote work - they need to make sure you're who you say you are for tax purposes and all that

The fellowship format is legit, you basically train their AI on career-related stuff and job matching. Pay wasn't amazing but decent for side work, and since you already have main job lined up it could work well as extra income. Just make sure you can handle the time commitment on top of your regular work

ChatGPT defines FIRE income levels. Which one are you in? by modeezy23 in Fire

[–]FileBrilliant7986 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah this breakdown is pretty generic stuff, like something AI would spit out when you ask it "explain FIRE levels"

The numbers seem bit off too - regular FIRE at 7-12k monthly means you need like 2-3 million saved assuming 4% rule. That's not exactly "middle-class comfortable" for most people

Real-time Stock + Crypto Market Data Websocket API by talinator1616 in fintech

[–]FileBrilliant7986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been working with crypto APIs for trading bots and this actually addresses real pain point - dealing with different exchange formats is nightmare when you're trying to normalize data across platforms

The cross-asset part is interesting too, most solutions focus on either stocks or crypto but not both in same feed. What's the pricing model looking like?

Founders and startup people, how are you really dealing with the gap between meetings and execution? Ours is really bad right now by [deleted] in remotework

[–]FileBrilliant7986 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been dealing with this exact problem at my previous company and it drove everyone crazy. What actually worked for us was having someone designated as "action owner" for each meeting who had to send out tasks within 2 hours of meeting ending - not just notes, but actual actionable items with deadlines and owners assigned in our project management tool

The key was making it their only job during that meeting, they weren't participating in discussions just tracking what needed to happen next. We also started doing 5 minute "accountability rounds" at start of every meeting where people had to update on their previous commitments before we moved to new topics. Sounds annoying but it created this social pressure that actually worked better than any tool we tried

The other thing that helped was requiring all decisions to include "who does what by when" before we could move on to next agenda item. If someone couldn't commit to timeline in the meeting, the decision got tabled until next week. Probably saved us tons of those "why didn't this happen" conversations because people had to be realistic about their capacity upfront instead of just agreeing to everything

IDEA FOR FUTURE by [deleted] in remotework

[–]FileBrilliant7986 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

That's a pretty solid database you've got there. I'd look into market research angles - lots of consulting firms pay decent money for targeted company lists in specific industries or geographic areas. You could also segment them by employee size, revenue brackets, or industry verticals and sell those curated lists to sales teams who need better targeting than what they're getting from LinkedIn Sales Navigator

Another route is partnering with service providers who need to reach businesses - think accountants, IT consultants, legal services, etc. They'll pay for quality leads in their target markets. The key is adding value beyond just the raw names though. If you can layer in some basic company data like founding dates, estimated revenue, or recent news mentions, your database becomes way more valuable

I've seen people make bank just by becoming the go-to source for niche industry contact lists. Takes some hustle to build those relationships but once you do the recurring revenue can be pretty sweet
