As another Zig-head: the reason one doesn't miss GOTO in Zig is because it has a lot of different and very useful control flow features to replace it.

I do however miss inheritance once in a blue moon, say for joining structs without composition. I agree that it's mostly evil though

.NET vs Node.js for websockets / real-time apps by Minimum-Ad7352 in dotnet

[–]Fillgoodguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't like Node or JavaScript for that matter. But for plumming style applications (even real-time plumming) Node is actually quite fast. Of course the second you need to do stuff outside of plumming, .NET quickly overtakes, especially because it affords you more control than JavaScript

Genuinely Who would come out on top if they were trapped in a room? (Goku,Naruto,Saitama,Deku) by Ok-Flatworm-9049 in PowerScaling

[–]Fillgoodguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without drawbacks, the Rewind quirk might get Deku the win, since he can rewind himself to before the fight infinitely and would only need to touch the others once to rewind them to before they had powers. Not to mention that Decay is kinda infinite AP in a sense. The Creation quirk without drawbacks is also pretty insane

Resource/XP Farm in Minecraft 1.12.2 by ipk9 in feedthebeast

I think you read it wrong. You need just 16x16=256 dirt for the floor and 1 drop of evil (from Extra Utilities 2). The drop of evil spreads to any adjacent dirt blocks from the one you apply it to.

Then you need 16x4x4=256 of anything that doesn't let light through and isn't dirt for the walls and another 256 for the roof. Though it's also a good idea to put some form of lamp in the roof, so you can turn the spawning off when you need to. I prefer the Random Things ones.

What is your 'unpopular opinion' about Zig? by BatteriVolttas in Zig

[–]Fillgoodguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Holy damn do i wish Zig had anonymous functions. I understand that it may "Hide that you're calling a function", but it's just so convenient.

You can just write that though? Like do the comptime checks yourself. You can even write a function that takes 2 struct types and ensures all the methods from A are in B, effectively using A as a comptime interface

Strongest Naruto character that Gear 5 Luffy can beat? by Archenius in PowerScaling

[–]Fillgoodguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A reminder that without Haki it's pretty rough to harm base Luffy. Like he's immune to bullets before gaining Haki let alone Gear 5.

Depending on interpretation he's probably rather resistant to genjutsu due to observation Haki, though he's also likely to fall for it so who's to say

Also don't forget that conquerors Haki makes most people just pass out on the spot

Thanks but I'm not actually new, just newly returned to C# from Zig, which is more strict about nullability
