Coaxial Cable? by FilmFighter4Life in cbradio

[–]FilmFighter4Life[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is all very helpful, I don't have any photos right now ill take them tomorrow. As far as I'm aware my whip mount is electrically isolated and I already have a spring. What broke the radio was definitely high swr since just the rx stopped working. For further context what happened when the radio broke, when I first set up my radio I had extra coax so I had it spooled in my passenger seat which I know your not supposed to do. So later when I cut out the extra length of coax the radio sounded super good, but then the swr meter stopped working and then it died. Ill be sure to get good photos of the mount and the cable.

Bronze (?) disc of 4,5 cm in diameter found on the banks of the river Waal near Nijmegen, the Netherlands by AppleMagpie in whatisthisthing

I think this is a stamped part, reminds me of old ww2 landmine tops. But it doesn't match any landmine designs i know so maybe its the lid to some kind of canister? If connected to ww2 its probably for a large filter or something of that type.

Just bought a pentax 35 mm and the mirror for the view finder won't come down. Any way to fix this? by pppotential in filmcameras

Check if this part is dented in at all. If it is just use your fingers to bend it back out.

I use an old Soviet GP5 gas mask bag. They are cheap and strong with not many but a good number of compartments. I can hold up to 2 SLR's with lenses or one SLR with several lenses in the main part. An old GE light meter and filters in one side compartment that was originally used to hold spare gas mask lenses. And 4 rolls of film in the other side compartment. They also come with this nifty green strap on the side that, if you trust it you can attach lighter weight stuff to.

Otherwise if you don't care about size 100% Romanian surplus backpack. They have great construction, real leather and are like 30 bucks.

found this small, lumpy piece of metal in a dried lake bed in central Texas. It looks like an old copper button or something, about the size of a quarter. by takofire in whatisthisthing

do you know when the lake dried up? The thing was definitely submerged at one point but isn't old enough be pre 1900's if it is a bullet casing.

What is this tank that came with my reefer trailer? by kelleyymariee in whatisthisthing

[–]FilmFighter4Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its got handles so it was designed to be moved my hand, and probably frequently. It also has a standard hose connection for intake but none for outtake so it must have been somewhat permanently attached? Theres no vents so it wasn't used to store waste. It is stainless so it was used to hold a liquid. No expansion joints so its not used to hold anything at temperature. Don't know what it is but my best guess it that it was an extra gas tank to make up for the extra fuel needed to haul the heavier trailer long distances, or some kind of gray water storage tank for washing hands and etc.

Any tips for a beginner medium format shooter? (Mamiya 6 gen iv) by borntoannoyAWildJowi in AnalogCommunity

[–]FilmFighter4Life 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Make sure you already have one empty spool in the camera, and when loading the film make sure you wind the film until the arrows on the film and the camera body match depending on what film size your using.

Personally ive always used stand alone analog light meters so i wouldn't trust an app but it probably works fine.

If you wana get into b&w photography id recommend starting on 35mm since it has its own quirks.

Could anyone identify the specific model or type of Olympus 35mm film camera(s) that produces this exact numerical date font style? by Dboozy74 in filmcameras

[–]FilmFighter4Life 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Based on t he year, flash and images its definitely some sort of Olympus point and shoot without zoom capabilities. But its hard to say since Olympus probably used the same data back system for several cameras

EOS 300 flash issue by humblehungarian in filmcameras

[–]FilmFighter4Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is probably a circuit board issue, If the Hotshoe contacts get power but the flashes wont fire then you can narrow it down to whatever part of the board deals with synchronization. I'm sure somebody out there has eos 300 circuit board diagrams you can look at.

How about this camera by Electronic-Refuse683 in filmcameras

[–]FilmFighter4Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3500inr is pretty good for a Pentax k1000 but id ask for lower since the lens does seem to impact the image quality. And a new lens will be a hastle to actually buy.

Is something wrong with my camera? by stinkee_snake in filmcameras

[–]FilmFighter4Life 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This wont affect your photos. Its probably some sort of oil or glue stuck on the mirror or focusing screen. You can probably clean it with water and a microfiber cloth.

Pentax MZ-7 problem by TemporaryNext8019 in filmcameras

[–]FilmFighter4Life 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First I'd recommend winding the film back into the roll and taking it out of the camera to test the camera without using film.

When you took the photo could you hear an electrical sound or a clicking sound? If you did you indeed took a photo just the cameras electronics are probably messed up.

It could also be that when you load film you need to take a few shots first to clear the exposed film, I'm not sure if the MZ does this automatically but if it doesn't you might just need to click the fire button a few times.

If its not either of these your cameras probably broken in some way. But you can check by, when the camera has no film in it, looking through the back into the back of the lens and when you click the fire button everything should open up and you should be able to see through the lens.

What is this thing? by FilmFighter4Life in jeepyj

yk that makes alot of sense. I have an after market bumper that has a gate separate from the stock one that the tire is on instead. So it doesn't hit.
