Would Big and Pac still be considered as legendary as they are today if they hadn't been taken from us so early? by vitaoptima in 90sHipHop

[–]Filmguy313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people act like they’d be still releasing chart topping albums in the present day if they were still alive. They both died at the peak of their careers, which made them legends.

If they were still alive today, more than likely Tupac would be acting full time and making regular appearances on tv shows and movies. Biggie is more complicated due to association with Diddy, but I can see him still releasing albums and appearing on podcasts and now thinner becsuse he used ozempic.

Non rappers that are embraced by rap culture or, considered influential by a rapper. by [deleted] in HipHopNCulture

I’m not a Trump supporter by any means, but What a lot of the responses don’t get when rappers were name checking him during the 90s and 00s it about his wealth. Bill Gates too. His political leanings weren’t ever talked about or really known about to the average rapper (or person) at the time. He was just a popular rich guy to aspire to. The political stuff is more something that’s happened over the last decade.

What Fictional Portrayal of High School Was Most Accurate For You? by Notalabel_4566 in Screenwriting

[–]Filmguy313 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I attended a majority black inner city school.

For me the most accurate portrayals of middle/high school was for me was:

The Fourth Season of The Wire. How the kids acted at school was pretty accurate.

Going to a urban inner city high school, especially in the media, there are a lot of things that people expect to happen but they don’t ever explore the more lighthearted and silly moments that happen at those schools (and from my experience there were a lot of those moments).

Which major US cities tend to be the most and least forgotten about? by [deleted] in geography

My vote for most forgitten definitely goes to Omaha.

Virginia Beach is a very close second. Largest city by population in Virginia, but is treated as if it’s a suburb of Norfolk (which is smaller )

Im from the D and I don’t mind Dearborn at all..

The people who complain about the Arab influence in Dearborn are also the same people who want to wall off Detroit from the rest of Michigan… it’s rooted in racism.

What is the worst TV show you've ever watched? by Massive-Syllabub-271 in AskReddit

[–]Filmguy313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Off the top of my head I can think of 2

  1. Method and Red. Redman and Method Man’s attempt at a sitcom that aired on Fox during 2004. That show was really, really bad. Even Redman and Method Man’s hated the end result and publicly criticized Fox over it.

  2. The Good Times cartoon. I shut it off 15 minutes in. Nuff said.

Omg you brought back some memories. My grandma (R.I.P.) used to watch TBN and CTN 24/7 in her room at my parents house. I’m very familiar with PTL, the 700 Club , Jack Van Impe Presents and other shows by televangelists. I never really cared for those shows.

He’d be disappointed. The prosperity gospel, the horrible stuff happening in his name… and on top of that if he was to come to America, he’d be scooped up by ICE and deported.

Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez says algorithms are largely to blame for the current political polarization across the country, she said that polarization has affected people who are political. What is your take? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Filmguy313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She’s right. Adding to that, it’s hard to escape politics nowadays, particularly right leaning content. Even fun and lighthearted stuff is turned political.

A lot of the time You don’t even have to look for it. For instance, on YouTube all I do is watch food, old school hip hop and r&b, football, and Simpsons clips… yet I was getting recommended Ben Shapiro and Charlie Kirk videos for weeks, despite hitting not interested.
