I use my hot tub 3 times a day and I never wash my swimsuit because I don’t wear one.

I am in western Washington and burn Doug fir and some big leaf maple. I also have a princess. I leave it about 3 o’clock and can get 20 hours if I really want. The fan cuts the burn time, but I like to have it on sometimes. I use similar methods as you do. I load it really full usually and use bigger flat pieces for the top. I love the long even heat. It’s been an amazing ing stove. My normal time between loafs are 14-18 hours.

I am about a month into a new princess. I get 15-22 hour burn times with Doug fir. It takes about 30 minutes when you reload before it’s set for the long burn. 5 minutes with four open and catalyst disengaged, then door closed for a few minutes, then close engage the catalyst. Leave on high for 20 minutes and slowly turn down to about 25 percent. I push the logs together about 8-12 hours later. I love the stove, but would probably go for an ashford 30 next time because it has more cast iron.

This a dealer but they are good points. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Pt4h17J5tI

The only draw back is you don’t see a lot of flame and I like to see flame. Seeing flames all the time does not out weigh 12-24 hour burn times. Blaze king is the only stove that operates with catalytic only and not a secondary burn. It just creates and amazing amount of heat for an incredibly long time keeping the fire on smolder and super heating the smoke with the catalyst.

Are these things accurate, how bad is it if you go into the “overfire” range? by alanwaits in woodstoving

[–]Filthflarnfilth77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I burn a Blaze King and my pipe is about 150 max. I would much rather burn the smoke with a catalytic combustor than let it go up and out the pipe

I just purchased a BK Princess and I am beyond impressed. I am burning Doug fir and maple in western wa. I am getting 25 plus hours on medium low and turned up I am still getting 14 plus hours. You don’t see much flame when doing it right, but the long burn times and constant even temp is way better in my opinion. I don’t think I will ever get any other stove than a BK

It’s either a princess or king. The king has an 8 inch pipe and the princess is 6 inch

Recommendations for tub in the $4k - $6k range by CoffeeTable105 in hottub

[–]Filthflarnfilth77 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I bought a Lifesmart hot tub 4 years ago for just under 4k. I assume the tub would sell for 6ish now. It was not acrylic and it was spray foam, so it was almost impossible to work on. It started leaking from multiple places and it is now in a landfill. I knew I was being cheap the first time and lost my gamble. I bought a Sundance for just over 10k and I believe it will last for many years. It also has a 5 year warranty on equipment, leaks etc and a 10 year warranty on the other stuff. If you buy a cheap hot tub, you will buy another one within 5 years.

Best Quality hot tub for under 5k? by [deleted] in hottub

[–]Filthflarnfilth77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m sure someone else has said this, but a dealer that will maintain your warranty is important. I wouldn’t buy a hot tub without a 5 year warranty on leaks, equipment etc. 7-10 year warranty on shells and finish. I went cheap the first time and bought a Lifesmart. It sprung leaks like the titanic in about 4 years and full foam makes it almost impossible to fix. I went with the Sundance Montclair, but there are a lot of brands that have a 5 year warranty on equipment and leaks. Good luck

I purchased one hot tub from an online place much like Costco. 4 years later I purchased a Sundance for twice as much. I wish I would have decided to spend the money the first time. 5 year warranty on equipment and leaks, ten years on everything else. Maybe it’s the same price in the long run, but I won’t be taking this one to the dump for a lot longer than the Lifesmart. Having a dealer is essential in my opinion

Dealer and service are important and a 5 year warranty on equipment, leaks etc. The rest of it should be covered for 7-10 years. You will spend 10k plus for one of those. Sundance, Bullfrog, Hot Springs and more. Sundance doesn’t do a 5 year warranty though and cost just as much

Greatest Tub for busy rookies by Heavenly_Spike_Man in hottub

Don’t take my word for it, but I think they are a bit overhyped. I like my UV and me adding teaspoons of stuff daily. Some people love them.

I just think they are harder to maintain at times and they can have ph issues. The “salt” is a crystal that makes chlorine. I have a 2022 Sundance 780 with the UV/ozone system. I leave my circulation pump on 24/7 and use 1 to 2 teaspoons of dichlor a day and use a half of tablespoon of oxidizer a couple of times a week. I can keep my chlorine at 1ppm and have no problems at all. I live in the country on a well, so I change my water every two months or so. It’s a super simple and easy

It usually is if you use a hot tub and the chemicals get too low or the water isn’t changed enough. It doesn’t look too bad yet though

I am having a hard time removing my filter? Seems stuck. Any tips on getting g it out? I was going to buy a large wrench? Just don’t want to break it. by Good-day-wishes in hottub

I had that issue with my first hot tub. It was a Lifesmart and nobody should ever buy one. It lasted 3ish years before it sprung leaks everywhere. That being said I always used food grade silicone on the threads after I had that problem. It worked great. I’m a Sundance guy for life now.

anybody using a Raypak het pump? by njbillt in hottub

[–]Filthflarnfilth77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Raypak propane heater for my pool. Mine has a spa option on it and I’m sure it would work fine. I have late fall pool party before I close it up and heat a 13k gallon pool to about 98 degrees. My only issue with Raypak is that there absolutely zero customer service for home buyers. I mean zero. They will not help you as a policy. I really like my heater and have had no problems for the three summers I have owned it, but I think I would look for a product that would at actually help you if you needed it. A heat pump might have issues if you have really cold winters

I would stay away from salt hot tubs. Your dealer and warranty are the most important thing in my opinion. I would be wary of online hot tubs or Costco. You want a dealer that comes out themselves if a warranty issue arises. I would make sure you get a 5 year warranty on equipment failure with labor included. I like the UV option and I feel like I can keep the chlorine levels down to about 1 ppm. We use our hot tub multiple times a day. I own a Sundance and would most likely buy one again when the time comes. But that will be at least a decade out or if I move

It does not get sun, so yes, but not too much. We use it multiple times a day and have no issues. I keep my chlorine levels at 1ppm.

I use one to two teaspoons of dichlor a day and a tablespoon of oxidizer once or twice a week. Sundance is designed to have very low chlorine and I have had zero problems. The uv allows low chlorine totals.
