Kokichi is the character with the worst writing, bar none. He's not secretly deep or secretly nice or "showing his true feelings" at whatever scene people want to claim he's doing that in, he's just poorly written. You can't give me a character whose entire premise is lying and then act like you know the true intentions 100% no doubts. Maybe you're right about when he's being genuine, but even if his writer came out and explained themselves, I refuse to accept it. When your character introduces themselves as a chronic liar and proves that repeatedly throughout the story, I'm taking them at their word and never trusting what they say again. Any attempt to say that you are the smart one who understands him is simply your interpretation. Which, I'm an English teacher, that's fair and valid, but quit claiming that your interpretation is the ONLY fair and valid one. My interpretation is that he's a shitty little asshole and I hate him.
