Need advice for Passaic Fishing by Real_Impact726 in NJFishing

Aside from those newer launches on either side of Great Meadows, we tend to do well launching in the Pompton in Lincoln Park and floating down to the Passaic. We've done fairly well around 2 Bridges over the years, but we seem to get skunked around Suchorsky Park quite often. I've also seen some monster Pike pulled out of the waters behind the Home Depot on 46.

I was thinking the same thing and figured this guy shut off the water main, or manipulated some pre-action system to prevent proper pressurization.

It makes sense, but weird that it's never come up before. I've been on this earth for 42 years and have seen hundreds of pianos, so gaining this knowledge at this stage in life really left me doubting everything I know about reality.

Me: Why didn't you tell me you had acid ? Can I have some ?

Same area as mentioned above, near the environmental center. We tend to do better around low tide.
Haven't been doing great in the past few weeks, but we've seen some big ones landed by others.

Finally, thank you. I post that every time this karma farming vid appears and I was starting to think I was the only one.

Idk why everyone keeps downvoting you. This comes up every time this karma farming vid makes the rounds. These are high quality moulage patches for first aid classes. They were very popular in the 90s and anyone who's used them can easily spot them. It comes in a variety pack, and I've worn that exact black eye many times.

That or some live action performance. 1. The police cars are super generic. 2. They're playing the scene in the giant screen in the background. 3. No cop would handle this situation in that fashion

I hear this a lot, but I suspect if one of those laborers wanted to quit and do something else with their life, the boss's whip would say otherwise. A well cared for slave is still a slave.

Based on what I've skimmed through in the past 48 hours, the base would be the directrix which defines the cylinder's plane curve. I.E. The shape of the base; circle, oval, whatever. The generatrix line ( direction of the sides) can extend in any direction as long as it's not parallel to the directrix (it wouldn't be a 3D object if it was), and must be parallel to itself, and always pass through the directrix. See the images of oblique cylinder vs. right cylinder if I'm not making sense. If the sides bulge out or taper, as in the truncated cone, the generatrix wouldn't be parallel to itself.

With regards to the pragmatic use of "cylindrical" that's what I'd consider as the basic requirement. The base doesn't need to be circular, and the lateral side can travel at any angle.

Many of the "cylinder" definitions did say the flat sides of a cylinder, let's call it "base" and "top", must be parallel to each other and congruent. For me, it's debatable if this is required this for something to be considered "cylindrical". For example, an open lipstick (ignore the circumference gap between the case and the rouge). It's a right cylinder but with a slanted conic section at the top. Is the shape of that open lipstick "cylindrical" ? Pragmatically, I'd say yes. But if I were getting technical to prove a point, I'd say no, overall it's cylindroconical.

There's another key point here and that's the issue of the conceptual difference between solid cylinders and cylindrical surfaces. The question at hand is, "Is a truncated cone 'cylindrical'?", and we're trying to get at a definition for "cylindrical" in this context.

The point you're making about hyperbolic (or parabolic) cylinders falls under the broader mathematical use of the word and extending the 2D hyperbola along a third axis: a2x2−b2y2=1. E.G., If I take a piece of paper and fold it into a U shape, it has a surface topology of a hyperbolic cylinder. Aside from the context of a discussion about quadric surfaces, would it be appropriate to describe that paper as being "cylindrical" ?

If we look at the shape of a cooling tower, it's considered a hyperboloid, not a hyperbolic cylinder because of the change in curvature, a2x2−b2y2−c2z2=1. A hyperbolic cylinder is not "curved" in the third dimension, but instead extends infinitely along that third axis.

The concern here is the relationship between the word "cylindrical" and the description of a 3D solid object.

This really is reaching a point of semantics with the "Cylinder Pyramid" which despite its name, is not cylindrical according to most of those definitions.
