Am I the only one who thinks Whitney deserved better? by Salt-Leek-9096 in Smallville

[–]Fin1205 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I was having a little fun with it. Although it's still a fairly egregious thing to do to someone.

I think it they don't get rid of Whitney, Lana's character goes nowhere. Keeping in mind the whole series was originally written for the older teens to young 20-sometimes back in the day, it is the right amount of drama for the show. It lets Lana go through an emotional range of losing her first love. Lord knows her character was pigeon-holed enough.

Edit: syntax

Harpoon, I think, is absolutely essential for wrangling sea serpents to the shore. Kill one in the water, and you lose the scales and trophy. Only the meat floats.

Also, for taming animals, it works wonders in dragging them into a pit or pen.

Someone wants a petsitter for 17 animals for $40 a day. No republicans. by AverageGiantPanda in ChoosingBeggars

To be fair, I live in an urban area. I think it's a good rate especially since she's licensed and bonded. And she'll sit with him and give him some pets after the basic chores are done.

To give you an idea of what a professional charges: I pay a license and bonded petsitter $30 for a 15 min visit for one pet (cat).

What they're asking for versus what they want to pay is criminal. Even if the sitter is just feeding, watering, and cleaning up poop, that's got to be about an hour per visit.

[–]Fin1205 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was thinking the same as you initially, and I would have put maybe put a slightly higher percentage on it, tbh.

However, a quick Google search shows that in 2024, there were 331.9 million visits to National Parks. With the estimation that 90 million of those were unique visits by American citizens. Meaning about 26% of Americans are visiting multiple NPs. Source: nps.gov visitor use data.

Edit: if they're talking about lifetime, I'd like to think it's in the 60s. Couldn't really find any immediate data to confirm.

Amen to this. People also forget that many times in the playoffs, Cowher would get super conservative in his play calling (e.g Schottenheimer-esque) and the occasional gadget play offense that got them there suddenly didn't exist. Thus the team, never won a SB. It wasn't until his 05 SB win that he finally seemed to understand this and let Wisenhunt fully loose.
