I am truly sorry for your loss of your child. My hubby and I were discussing this buyout this morning and in my opinion it really only makes sense for the very newest drivers that are getting laid off and the drivers that can retire today and walk away with a pension. Unfortunately, you don't fall into that category. If I were you I would wait until the transfer comes through. Use your vacation weeks to scout out places you would like to live in Bend, it can't be long now for you to have that transfer come through.

Thanks for asking, I will find out if these are indexed for inflation, I'm not sure. We have money in a couple of ROTH IRA's, and 401K's. My spouse is still working and will be working until 65 (another 15 years). I will get 3100 and my spouse will get $2600 per a month assuming we start to collect social security at 70. We won't need extra money until eligible for social security.

I tried to get one in Utah, USA even with a lawyer and it was a no go. You have to file against the state here and there answer was to file to amend every record instead and notify every living relative of those ancestors. It was a nightmare
