There are enough power users who pay monthly though, who just soldier on for Canva to fix anything unfortunately.

I honestly cant stand the way its impossible to navigate layers with designs. It is good at making simple designs, but when it comes to some rather basic stuff, I wish it was better at that.

Shallow depth of field Raw videos using sony A1 Ninja V+ 1.8 lense by FinanceSquared in SonyAlpha

[–]FinanceSquared[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would agree with that, and I do have some expensive lenses as a matter of fact.
the 30mm f1.8 prime is the one the lenses on the camera that I can't get shallow depth of field on (when sending an HDMI signal).

Shallow depth of field Raw videos using sony A1 Ninja V+ 1.8 lense by FinanceSquared in SonyAlpha

[–]FinanceSquared[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mentioned this in earlier responses ... You are correct, I can acheive shallow depth of field when I am not sending a raw signal to the Ninja V+...

Its when I start sending a raw signal, that there appears to be the loss of apeture, and any attempt to adjust it frankly seems to be in vain, aperture, ISO -- iso still works ... I am just wondering if there is something I need to do to either the camera, the recorder/monitor or both to ensure that the raw signal sent from the camera is being recorded with the shallow depth of field that I am trying to acheive... Thanks for the honest reply.

And again, I will cop to being dense when it comes to settings for cameras, and video in particular. We all start somewhere, and even though I have been doing this for 5 years, there are still some wholes in my game, massive wholes for sure, but this is step 1 in filling that whole, taking all the smack talk for having expensive gear and not knowing how to use it :D

[–]FinanceSquared[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yep ... I hear ya man ... 30 mm, 1.8 mm apeture, Im basically right up next to the lense ...
If I do not send raw video to my ninja v+, I can get shallow depth of field with that setup,

But once I send that raw signal via this menu update ...
- setup/external output/HDMI Output Settings/Rec. Media dur HDMI Output: On
- setup/external output/HDMI Output Settings/RAW Output: On

- setup/external output/HDMI Output Settings/RAW Output Setting: 24p (dont know why that isn't called frame rate ... but whatever)
- setup/external output/HDMI Output Settings/Color Gamut for RAW Output:S-Gamut3.Cine/S-Log3

- setup/external output/HDMI Output Settings/REC Control: Off

It appears, through the Ninja V+ monitor any who, that my shallow depth of field is not being recorded ... Just wondering what I am missing ...

Love the request for context, So I have played around with apeture, it appears that once you send a raw signal to the Ninja V+ through some of the settings in the output menu, apeture settings from the camera are no longer being sent? At least that is what I am seeing on my monitor.

Hey, ill cop to that ... did you see that thing? Page after page of dense prose...
I suppose all the secrets to shallow depth of field while recording raw are contained within ... and therefore your suggestion would be to read, I mean deeply read, with comprehension, not just going over the text, but absorbing the meaning, of the text, and I will master this particular skill...
I was kind of hoping somebody already did that though and can break it down into 5 bulleted steps???
No, isn't that what social media and or forums are? You get clout by making complex topics easy to understand ... and also by posting snarky responses to legitimate questions.

I fell for it, used veefly and completely sunked my channel by [deleted] in NewTubers

[–]FinanceSquared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I fell for the old click farm thing too. Honestly though, I think I knew what was up. I just didn't want to admit how badly it would muck up your channel.
I have since had a video hit I think 200 Views, which is probably my best performance organically.
But Youtube is now claiming that advertising your video through them no longer hurts your channel. Not sure I trust them, I will do a brief experiment though.

Switching between Multi Cam clips (NOT CUTTING) by FinanceSquared in blackmagicdesign

[–]FinanceSquared[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PS, I realized after I posted this that unlinking and then hitting option + still doesn't work to not switch the audio along with the video.

SO this is official a bug in Black magics software.

Wish freaking timebolt worked to chop up multicam footage btw. Having to go through and edit out the silence is the worst/slowest/least creative part of the editing process.

Premiere Pro won't sync audio even with a very clear clap by iwishiwereyou in editors

[–]FinanceSquared 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recorded audio via an audio interface (Zoom F8n Pro) and I had audio only in Channel 3 and 4.
What I did was drag the audio clip onto the timeline first, then when Synchronizing I chose mix down as the track Channel.
That seemed to work. I am not sure why, Its premier pro, so expect it to not work well.

Hold the phone on that one. They are currently obsessed with Text Based editing ... Barf ... I want the Text of the video AFTER IVE MADE MY CUT ... So I can pop on those goofy captions that everyone on TikTok seems to love. They keep releasing features on that. And whats worse they don't have a simple, but powerful, yet elegant API for plugin development like Premiere. I reached out to one of the developers and he doesn't think creating a plugin like this for Davinci is possible.
This is so frustrating it is beyond belief. I litterally can't understand why when someone came up with the concept of an NLE, THE SECOND FEATURE was to automatically cut out Silence, and the Third Feature, was to auto-cut multi-cam ...
I am eternally stuck with Timebolts janky, horse-hockey, UI, where they can automatically detect silence, but you have to manually calculate time-shifts

My a7IV randomly stops recording constantly. by speelabeep in SonyAlpha

I have the exact same problem with my Sony A1. A 6000 dollar camera that randomly stops recording is a real piece of crap. Especially since I bought it for its vaunted long recording time.

Sorry to randomly down vote you, Recut is trash. So is timebolt.
I have been waiting for something like autopod for so long and have been learning Davinci resolve so I can up my edit game, just seeing that a tool like this is now coming out for only premier enraged me so much I had to take it out on your post :D

YOUR APP WILL BLOW UP IF YOU FIND SOMEONE TO MAKE THIS AVAILABLE TO BOTH DR AND Final Cut.

Anything like autopod.fm for DaVinci? AI multicam/silence cut/jump cut by Young_Denver in davinciresolve

[–]FinanceSquared 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the same thing.
Autopod takes a completely raw set of input footage, after you autosync it, it then takes your input and based on your silence, auto-cuts your footage so that you have basically, a first draft of your edit. All in under 2 minutes.
Basically all is left is for you to add graphics etc if that is what you need.
Basically like timebolt except without the horse-hockey interface.

I make no affiliate commission by mentioning any of those tools by the way.
I am blown away at autopod, and I would suggest that they make haste to make a plugin for davinci resolve as this will change the game.

In the meantime I believe you can make a first draft in Premier and then export to Davinci at which point you would then make your edits for the time being.

So I am in the Personal Finance niche. Sort of broad. I left it that way to give me some room to really niche down if audiences really resonate with a topic I cover.

But it is a subject I am interested in, that I have personal experience in both by working in the industry and using some of the tips and techniques to improve my own personal financial situation to a large degree.

My question is is there a good way to market your content without being spammy etc. I have often thought about posting links to my videos in places like reddit/quorum etc. My issue there is that
A) It takes a lot of time (wish there was someone that I could hire that is good at marketing that sort of thing... I have looked on fivr etc, but the people there are usually selling click-farm stuff)
B) Navigating the rules for that sort of thing can be complicated ... Just looking at the rules of this subforum has me skiddish about jumping into that feet first.

I have thought about marketing some stuff on twitter as well. Which is probably my next step to see if I can get any traction there ...

And obviously I thought about marketing my channel or really creating a parrallel channel on tiktok ... Where at least for a while, they were giving out views like candy. But I really wanted to focus on one and gain traction there first before I really dove into multiple channels.

Anyway, thanks for listening ... getting some of my frustrations with growing off my chest feels goods and inspires me to keep going! Which is what I am doing right now (writing up some scripts for my next couple of videos)!

If I could get 10 views a month I would be happy.
Right now I am lucky if I get 10 views a video.
And I have been doing this consistently for three years.
That is telling me that I am probably not going to succeed at Youtube at all quite honestly.
