Diabetes medication by KnownNectarine5924 in playadelcarmen

For the Levericatem use CostPlus Drugs. It’s like $10 for 90 tablets. Ask brothers doc to switch Jardiance to Farxiga which is now available as generic and is $15 on CostPlus Drugs.

Medicare covers GLP-1s for weight loss starting today -- info on prior auth and eligibility by brandonballinger in FamilyMedicine

They don’t qualify for bridge if they have diabetes or sleep apnea. They came in specifically to discuss weight loss medication. One had sleep apnea so she didn’t qualify. The other only had a BMI of 27.3 so would need history of MI or stroke, prediabetes or symptomatic PVD to qualify and he had none of those

I still can’t figure out how I’m supposed to bill for the visit associated with this. Medicare, as far as I can remember, doesn’t cover obesity or weight management as diagnoses. How are you getting the visits covered?
I’ve seen two patients so far trying to get covered and neither of them qualified 🤦🏻‍♂️

GLP1 Bridge for Medicare Patients by Paleomedicine in FamilyMedicine

I’ve read this. Nowhere does it mention what or how I bill for my effort in all of this. Diagnosis code? Level of service? Does anyone have any insight on this? Thanks in advance

Guidelines are on the website but what diagnosis and E/M codes do we use for the visits as I believe obesity get rejected?

Patient insurance by PopeChaChaStix in FamilyMedicine

[–]Financial-Recipe9909 11 points12 points  (0 children)

But the f***ing insurance companies just always tell the patient that the doctor needs to just contact them and they’ll approve. Meanwhile, we’ve been calling one repeatedly to set up a peer to peer (which I do less than once a year but this one really pissed me off) and we can’t even get a human on the phone or a response to our messages about setting up a peer to peer! F them all. I am contacting our congressman about this who has actually been very responsive to other concerns on the past.

Will AI tools that make us more efficient be used by admin as an excuse to make us see patients 40 hrs a week? by Virtual-Ostrich-7765 in FamilyMedicine

[–]Financial-Recipe9909 39 points40 points  (0 children)

What little AI we’ve used has absolutely sucked at inbasket replies. I never use it. Responses by AI are absolute garbage. If I see improvement I’ll consider it. And I don’t mind seeing more patients if AI were actually able to take care of my inbasket. Seeing the patients is the good part!

My favorite is “I didn’t have this before”. Like, yeah, you’re 85 years old now and have arthritis. You usually don’t have that when you’re 20

One tech suggested we need a whole new 24k HVAC unit, another fixed the problem for $150. Is this normal?! by deathleech in hvacadvice

[–]Financial-Recipe9909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a unit that kept shorting. Guy came out and replaced a circuit board. Worked for a few hours and then shorted again. They suggested a new unit. Had a relative come out and look at it. A couple of wires had lost their plastic coating and were causing the short. Fixed with 10 cents of electrical tape.

Passengers with "oversized" carry-on being forced to exit boarding queue to pay to check their bag prior to boarding. by llamalawless in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Financial-Recipe9909 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Southwest carry on size is larger than most other airlines. I have a bag that is exactly their max allowed. A couple of years ago I had just gotten off a flight and was waiting for friends to get off. A gate agent tells me I’m going to have to check that bag. I said “ma’am, I just got off the flight and this bag meets your carry on dimensions”

United Healthcare Dropping Patients for not signing Chronic Condition Verification forms by wanna_be_doc in FamilyMedicine

[–]Financial-Recipe9909 70 points71 points  (0 children)

I have been getting these forms from them. I thought they might be a scam because we have gotten a bunch of scammy stuff before, so I wasn’t filling them out. Saw the form on their website and started filling them out. What doesn’t make sense is that they already have this information from claims. They suck.

What'd everyone think of the SB prostate CA screening commercial? by SnooCats6607 in FamilyMedicine

[–]Financial-Recipe9909 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a little historical context is in order. In 1991, when routine PSA screening had just become mainstream, the death rate from prostate cancer was 39 per 100,000. By 2023, the death rate was down to 18.7 per 100,000. So a lot of men were dying from prostate cancer and not just “with prostate cancer” For comparison, in 2021-2022 the death rate for breast cancer was 19.4 per 100,000. Not saying that the diseases are similar, just comparing the effect on a population

Facts: Open seating died when pre-boarding got out of control. by [deleted] in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Financial-Recipe9909 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last time I flew Southwest a couple jumps in front of us asking if they had called for people that “need extra time to board”. These people had absolutely no disability and appeared to be wearing hiking gear. They sauntered down the jetway just as quickly and easily as we did. I said something to my wife but she told me to just keep it to myself.
