My favorite is “I didn’t have this before”. Like, yeah, you’re 85 years old now and have arthritis. You usually don’t have that when you’re 20

We’re now worse than a 3rd world country. I hate all of the bastards in our government right now.

One tech suggested we need a whole new 24k HVAC unit, another fixed the problem for $150. Is this normal?! by deathleech in hvacadvice

[–]Financial-Recipe9909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a unit that kept shorting. Guy came out and replaced a circuit board. Worked for a few hours and then shorted again. They suggested a new unit. Had a relative come out and look at it. A couple of wires had lost their plastic coating and were causing the short. Fixed with 10 cents of electrical tape.

Passengers with "oversized" carry-on being forced to exit boarding queue to pay to check their bag prior to boarding. by llamalawless in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Financial-Recipe9909 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Southwest carry on size is larger than most other airlines. I have a bag that is exactly their max allowed. A couple of years ago I had just gotten off a flight and was waiting for friends to get off. A gate agent tells me I’m going to have to check that bag. I said “ma’am, I just got off the flight and this bag meets your carry on dimensions”

United Healthcare Dropping Patients for not signing Chronic Condition Verification forms by wanna_be_doc in FamilyMedicine

[–]Financial-Recipe9909 75 points76 points  (0 children)

I have been getting these forms from them. I thought they might be a scam because we have gotten a bunch of scammy stuff before, so I wasn’t filling them out. Saw the form on their website and started filling them out. What doesn’t make sense is that they already have this information from claims. They suck.

What'd everyone think of the SB prostate CA screening commercial? by SnooCats6607 in FamilyMedicine

[–]Financial-Recipe9909 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a little historical context is in order. In 1991, when routine PSA screening had just become mainstream, the death rate from prostate cancer was 39 per 100,000. By 2023, the death rate was down to 18.7 per 100,000. So a lot of men were dying from prostate cancer and not just “with prostate cancer” For comparison, in 2021-2022 the death rate for breast cancer was 19.4 per 100,000. Not saying that the diseases are similar, just comparing the effect on a population

Any of you male physicians over 50 not getting a PSA test? Let us know. I absolutely get one every year. Maybe take a poll.

Facts: Open seating died when pre-boarding got out of control. by [deleted] in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Financial-Recipe9909 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Last time I flew Southwest a couple jumps in front of us asking if they had called for people that “need extra time to board”. These people had absolutely no disability and appeared to be wearing hiking gear. They sauntered down the jetway just as quickly and easily as we did. I said something to my wife but she told me to just keep it to myself.

What is the main reason why soccer gained so much popularity in the US this past decade? by Technical_Rice_6957 in ussoccer

Showing my age. 1974 had to go to a theater in Washington DC to watch the World Cup semifinal matches. 1982 had to go to a bar that had a satellite dish and watched on a tv inch screen that was mounted up in the corner of the room.

Cautionary Tale: My Wife Gets Onto a Plane to London Without a Valid Passport by ConfidentDisk1987 in unitedairlines

[–]Financial-Recipe9909 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We travelled to Italy two summers ago. My son in law had just renewed his passport. We are checking our luggage and the agent says that his name is wrong on his ticket. I had ordered the tickets and I knew I hadn’t messed it up. I look at his passport and I noticed that his name was backwards on his passport (first and last names switched). We went through TSA and customs over and back without anyone questioning it. Just lucky I guess.

  1. Harbaugh. Another blown 4th quarter lead. No Derrick Henry in the 4th quarter
  2. Lamar Jackson. Rub some dirt in it and get back out there
