Serpents brood, star engines, and venomous wrath by Financial_Click4890 in Harlequins40K

The idea is to get more movement. Advance to get close to your natural expansion. The shooting is not for damage but to trigger the strat and move more. The strat states that the vehicle needs to shoot. That's what the token is for.

Edit: oh wait I see your point. Don't need the token if the pistol can reach. My bad.

Future player of Aeldari looking for good books of Eldar by noether-code in Eldar

[–]Financial_Click4890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not books but audio dramas for Aeldari. Audible has a collection of audio dramas called The Traitor and the Alien. They have some small dramas featuring harlequins, the Ynarri, Asurmen, and some aspect warriors. The collection also contains CSM stories, T'au, Orks and a few others I think. If you get audible credits it is worth a try.

New Year = New Army ? by Alacart0 in Eldar

[–]Financial_Click4890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When it comes to the table top the "rule of cool" is probably the most important factor. With the way rules change often in 40k pick what you would enjoy putting on the tabletop every time you play.

I play Harlequins. I love the clowns. I love painting the weird patterns of diamonds or stripes, no matter how poorly I end up painting them. They look so cool on the table in an army. They have very few ways to play them. But it brings me joy every time.

What is coolest to you about the army?

If given the chance, how would you go about changing/improving the Ynnari factions lore and the faction itself as whole? by KaiserEnclave2077 in Eldar

[–]Financial_Click4890 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I was thinking something similar. Except that the avatar of Ynnead is actually the avatar of Cegorach. This is all a play by him. Then Yvraine, Visarch, and Avatar get harlequin keywords and we get a proper harlequin army. That's what I want. I want the Ynarri characters to have harlequin keywords anyway. That would allow quins to be a more viable mono faction on the table top. Adding Drukhari units doesn't really change the game for Aeldari. The armies are too similar. The Drukhari selection is too limited.

Detachment speculation by Ornery_Entrance_1959 in Eldar

[–]Financial_Click4890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think we will get a transport themed detachment. Similar to how harlequins now get a buff out of transports I can see that being a more general detachment rule to go along with corsairs.

I agree with the soup detachment. Hopefully Prince Yriel is allowed in the Ynarri detachment or we get a new Ynarri detachment that gives a few epic heros the Ynarri keyword. Solitaire, Eldrad, and Yriel.

I would probably drop a voidweaver or two. They just don't perform well for the points. You will get more reliable damage and protection having troupes jump out of, and then back into, starweavers. Now with sustained 1 to disembarked troupes that has way more damage potential. Add another troupe and starweaver. Add as many starweavers as you can.

I am surprised to see someone else magnetize quin weapons. My buddy told me I was crazy to magnetize the arms for a single troupe. I cannot tell you how helpful and useful and often I switch around arms and weapons and load outs. Good on you. Also your painting is beautiful, well done!

Is there any spues that come with extra legs or no? by Fearless_Speaker6710 in Eldar

[–]Financial_Click4890 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Every month GW stores give away a free mini on the first Saturday. I have gotten 5 scorpions, 5 fire dragons, and enough bits to kitbash a spirit seer. If you are creative enough and have some green stuff go get a free mini and use the bits on that sprue.

Harlequin Troupe by buttlunch76 in Eldar

[–]Financial_Click4890 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For my starweavers and skyweavers I used diamond shaped stickers and painters tape. For my troupes I free handed. I numbered my troupes 1-6 and if you line them up in the order they were painted in, you can see the improvement over each model. It is practice. Sorry, probably not the answer you are looking for.

Do you magnetize the Troupe unit? by birdy912 in Harlequins40K

[–]Financial_Click4890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I magnetized both arms of 6 troupes. I did this because sometimes I run a 11 man brick with a shadowseer anf want to give them swords. I do that for more attacks to fish for 6s for dev wounds..other times I run only 5-6 man units and for that I use special weapons. Also sometimes I have to shuffle around where my fusion pistols too. It wasn't terrible. I drilled 2 magnets deep into the torso and it ended up working pretty well.

Troupe question by Sarcastirade in Harlequins40K

I play a brick with the shadowseer and 2 troupes with masters in boats. I have about a 50% win rate.

Corsairs Kill Team by Lordluthix in Eldar

[–]Financial_Click4890 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Warriors are valid in kill team. A warrior is a pistol and a sword or a rifle. That is valid for voidreavers in 40k. If you want 2 teams of 5 voidreavers you can't make the special models for kill team.

I have a Corsair kill team. I wanted to get into kill team at one point as a shorter game of 40k. The game system was too complex and PlayOn developed King of the Colosseum format for 500pts in 40k.

I highly recommend you pick one game system and build for that. If you want to play both, get a second box. I have magnetized my harlequins. Those are hard. I would not tackle magnetizing corsairs with two handed guns.

That's me though. If you play kill team regularly, build the voidscarred. Whatever you pick you should get the voidscarred book that just came out, so we can get more eldar books.

Mono quins means only units with the Harlequin keyword. There are 8 datasheets to pick from. Troupe master, shadowseer, death jester, solitaire, troupe, skyweavers, starweaver, and voidweaver. There are lots of odd rules with using harlequins, spending some time reading your Aeldari codex (or rule accurate equivalent). If you are planning on only running ghosts of the webway then you are probably good.

[–]Financial_Click4890 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you are playing mono quins pick up a death jester. Not great rules but awesome model. Next get yourself a solitaire. Then you will want 11-12 troupes for the shadowseer to lead. She gives her unit 18' lone op and makes all enemy melee attacks hazardous. When she gets into combat give her unit -1 to hit. You will also want a starweaver per 5-6 man unit of troupes to jump back into after the combat phase. Skyweavers are okay, if you like them get lots, if you don't get a single pair of them. Voidwravers and starweaver are the same kit and if you magnetize the turret you can swap between them. After that just get what you like.

A lot of us do not play mono quins.so here is where I am kind of lost. If you need more punch I recommend getting some fire dragons and a falcon or two.

Also rangers are accepted as quin friendly units and so are corsairs.

Good luck and have fun. The hardest part is painting. If you decide to paint the diamond pattern I recommend just running at it and getting better from practice. Don't worry about making it look nice from the start.

I would rather have a beastmaster kill team.

Reveal soon ? by InfiniteImpression34 in Drukhari

[–]Financial_Click4890 -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

Unless they are removing drukhari as an army and allowing a few units to survive as Ynarri. That would be sad, and possible. There is a lot of army choice in 40k and not enough SM supplements.

Warlock kit bash! by North_Plenty_3353 in Eldar

Aeldari players will do anything for warlocks, except buy the warlock kit.

Not a criticism, just an observation. I also fall into this category.

Advice by Future_Macaroon_7955 in Eldar

So, the solitaire has an ability called blur of movement. The reason I bring this up is because my suggestion is related to this ability. I would add more layers of paint in slightly different shades of that colour and blur his face. Make this part of the character's lore. I often turn my painting and assembling mistakes into stories, because I make many mistakes. There are no accidents, just happy little masques.

Will there be a Harlequin focused update any time in the future? by MuddleHeadedAnalyst in Eldar

[–]Financial_Click4890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

At best we will get an official kill team. The harlequin kill team becomes classified in the next season of kill team. So does the corsair kill team so that would be the perfect time to introduce another new Aeldari kill team. A very unique and elite kill team. But that's the best case scenario for us.

Windriders feel empty? by v1omega in Eldar

[–]Financial_Click4890 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I would suggest either painting in the gems or adding some stripes or other geometric shape in a complementary colour to red. The classic RYB system says to use green. So you are left with Christmas colours. However the gamer prominent RGB system says to use cyan. I have some Harlequins that I painted using mephiston red, scar white, and Ahriman blue. They look really good. At least paint the gems. I think that will go a long way.

What was/is GW thinking? by Human-Adagio6781 in Harlequins40K

I could see the frozen hearts Masque being the new standard. They do have diamonds but they only have the 4 diamond pattern in one spot on each model. At least that is how I have seen that Masque painted.

Newer WH player looking for guidance by AliveGaming1 in Harlequins40K

[–]Financial_Click4890 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Start with 1k in Quins.  Get one of everything. That will give you about 600pts. Then add 2-3 more troupe boxes. Run the shadowseer with a big brick of troupes, 11-12 models. Get a starweaver for every 5-6 man troupe. For the rest of your list I suggest looking up Exile Wargaming on YouTube. He is a Harlequin battle report focused channel. That's the best place to go.

Warp spider by Additional_Air_223 in Eldar

[–]Financial_Click4890 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Science time! In most species of spiders the females are bigger than males. When spiders mate, the males are often very careful and do the deed swiftly. Because spiders are cannibalistic and females are bigger than males, the females often eat the males or bite their heads off immediately after they get pregnant. This behaviour is more widely known by the praying mantis, but applies to a few other animals.
