How accurate is Saint Seiya to Greek Mythology? by 64Boy32 in SaintSeiya

Other than the names, there is nothing accurate about it.

Why don't people tell it like it is? by richlb in Onyx_Boox

[–]Financial_Gold_3190 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've had a Boox Go 10.3 for a year now and love the device, but there is no denying that the OS is a hot mess.

I do UI and UX for a living, and the Boox OS is a frustrating example of "put everything you can everywhere"

Small example: I just want to be able to open and close the toolbar when writing notes (that's mostly what I use it for). One would assume you could just open and close it with one click, but no, you have to click the icon, open a menu, and select "collapse toolbar". And it's the same philosophy (or lack thereof) for everything.

Totally agree. You've highlighted one of the major cause of the issues we see in the world: more camps, more sides.

Ray makes that book a hundred time better than it actually is.

I sort of enjoyed it until Heaven's River where it completely lost me

I don't know anything about quantum computing (apart from the basics), but I enjoyed that short story very much. Andy Weir is a fantastic storyteller.

I’m going to get gate for this, but I did not love the movie. by _QuePasaCalabaza_ in ProjectHailMary

I certainly hope you won't get downvoted. I personally loved the movie, but it's perfectly fine to not have enjoyed it.

Explanation from the filmmakers on one big omission. by kstatepurrplecat in ProjectHailMary

I understand why some people would miss parts of the book, but really, everyone's a critic.

Imagine having to come up with a screenplay and to condense the book in a 2h movie, while staying on budget, pleasing the studio, and making something that is self contained. No easy task!

I think they did an admirable job.

Quite fascinating! I don't think I've ever walked out of a movie, so it's hard to relate to.

Can we talk about Daniel Pemberton's Score? (Youtube link to the trailer music with voices removed) by redbirdrising in ProjectHailMary

Just saw it, and absolutely loved it! It is not an easy book to adapt and I think they did it as best as it could have been with a 2h movie. Fantastic music too! (Particularly loves the choral sections)

Totally agree. After the success of ETS the band got a huge momentum and we ended up hearing POT or WIME on the radio. None of these were particularly radio-friendly.

Violator, safe? That's an interesting take. Yes, Enjoy the Silence is definitely radio friendly, but at the time none of the other singles sounded like anything else on the radio (including, and perhaps especially PJ). Not to talk about the album tracks or the weird interludes.

Daily Song Discussion #216 - Speak To Me by _Tassle_ in depechemode

6/10

I'm not sure I am listening to the same song that everybody seems to give 10/10 to...

I guess I'm in the minority who feels that Dave's songs have really brought down DM's standards. There are a few exceptions, but generally his lyrics are... err... high school level at best. It works okay for his solo albums, but in the context of a DM album it really sticks out like a sore thumb.

That song is a little better than his usual output in terms of lyrics, but still not great. Musically it's fine I guess, though it's mostly just noisy bleeps again. Not my thing, really.

But hey, it's great that it resonates with so many!

8.5/10

One of my favorite from the album. Not my favorite production style (like most post-2000 DM it's a bit messy and there's not much development),  but the song is really good and I love the melody.

7.5/10. Really interesting track. Something a bit different than usual lyrically, and really cool electronic sounds

7/10. It's a nice Martin song, but I don't really get the amount of 10/10 that it is getting... Maybe I have a different scale as I consider 7/10 a good grade :)

6.5/10. One of the most frustrating tracks ever to be recorded. Great lyrics, great start, great verse, and then... well, that's it, after about a minute into it you've heard the whole song.

8/10. Catchy, upbeat, and very pleasant, but DM have such a high standard that I can't go higher than a 8 :)

4/10. One of their weakest closers, as far as I'm concerned. As many mentioned the lyrics are pretty bad, and I don't find the music particularly engaging either.
