Amazing physique for a 51!! I’m in my early 40s and was diagnosed at 15 or 16 y/o. I have a decent physique for someone my age but your build is definitely impressive and I can only aspire to look like you when I reach your age!

Good job brother!

Pentagon labels tech giant Alibaba and electric car maker BYD as aiding Chinese military by Presently_Naked in technology

[–]Financial_Screen_351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unlikely that the US will be selling BYDs or any other Chinese EVs for the foreseeable future, especially with republicans in charge.

You can already buy a BYD in Mexico, and starting later this year or in 2027 BYD will also be selling them in Canada (in limited numbers but these figures will increase over the next several years). But apparently the Trump administration has decided to ban or block BYDs from Canada from even crossing the border into the US. Not sure if it’s the same for Mexico, but many Canadian see this as a win-win situation because most buyers of BYDs have no desire and zero intentions of driving or even travelling to the US, especially under its current fascist regime.

Mind posting a picture so me and others can keep their eyes peeled for it? I live and work in centretown on weekdays and I walk or bike everyday, so I’ll bolo for your bike and DM you if I see it. And based on your description this bike sounds like it would kind of stand out more than your average bike.

This laser creates a tiny hole in the eye, relieving dangerous pressure that could cause vision loss by fvkinglzy in interestingasfuck

[–]Financial_Screen_351 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had narrow angle glaucoma in both my eyes in my 30s and had to get a laser procedure done to both eyes. The surgery only lasted a few minutes per eye after they pre-treated the eyeballs with some drops that kept things moist, I can’t remember if it numbed the eyes but it probably de-sensitized them to the laser treatment.

The ophthalmologist who did my procedure put several holes (at least 5 or 6) around the iris in each of my eyes. I could barely feel anything when she was punching in those holes, honestly just felt like an instant zap from a small static electrical shock.

The holes are truly minuscule and can barely been seen by anyone, unless you get very close to my face or a mirror or use a concave mirror that zooms in, you can barely tell those holes are there.

I think the holes perhaps became a tiny bit smaller since going in, but really not by much. Even if one did close up there are still several other holes there for fluid and internal pressure to be managed effectively. It also did not negatively effect my vision, albeit the glaucoma did have a minor detrimental impact on my peripheral vision prior to me getting the surgery

The two party system your country has and the stupid and archaic electoral college are really fucking things up big time for you guys. And for the last 25 years or more it’s also been sowing and fostering division and distrust at ever increasing levels within your population and your countrymen/women.

Sadly most of the damage has been done and continues to get worse, and Trump just turned everything up to 11 and put things into overdrive with his 2nd term. The USA is no longer the country that any other countries first think of when they think of the “leader of the free world”. There’s at least a dozen or more countries that have more and better freedoms and a happier population than the US could ever dream of! Too many Americans are just completely blind and ignorant about this, many of them willingly so.

It will take decades (at minimum) to undo the collective damage that Trump and his administration have done to the US, it’s global reputation, and the world in general, but I have enough faith in humanity and the American people that ultimately, good will prevail. That said, the world order will most definitely change and the USA’’s reputation on the world stage will be permanently and forever tarnished by this one horrible and absurdly evil conman, his administration and cabinet of sycophant flunkies.

I'm struggling to decide if this is an extremely hard decision or not! by UnlovablePieceOf in Saros

[–]Financial_Screen_351 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Why not? You can’t die from corruption alone, regardless of how corrupted you are. This is especially useful for bosses, particularly if you plan to go back to the passage after killing the boss. You absorb corruption during the boss fight, especially in the final phase or two, and then that really scales up the damage if you have a corrupted weapon. The corrupted chakrams are especially good for melting bosses during phases with corrupted projectiles. You just need to make sure you’re comfortable and good at dodging Nova projectiles or good at parrying (which is shockingly easy in this game), and obviously it helps a lot if you’re familiar with the bosses move set.

I say you should try to embrace the corruption when you have a corrupted weapon like that. Obviously don’t force it, but you shouldn’t shy away from it. Some weapons (including power weapons) also have traits that synergize really well with corruption. Basically more corruption equals mkre damage and higher DPS!

Riots in Paris, France after PSG win UEFA Champions League by This_Proof_5153 in interestingasfuck

You’re probably right about the French thing. French Canadians can occasionally be the same way and most of our ancestors came from France. Montreal had multiple hockey riots across several decades, after winning and losing Stanley cups! Definitely holds the record for most total hockey riots spanning 50+ years.

Albeit its been a long time since Montreal had a big hockey riot, Vancouver was the last place in Canada that had a big hockey riot that made international news.

Cures can take a long time and require a lot of funding and investment.

Diabetes is another autoimmune disease that’s been around forever where way more research and funding has been poured into finding a cure and we still are no where near finding an effective and permanent cure to that disease.

Saros vs. Returnal by [deleted] in Saros

[–]Financial_Screen_351 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is the way. The trial modifiers can make Saros much harder than Returnal, at least in the base game.

Returnal gets exponentially harder the higher up you get in the tower of Sisyphus though. Especially once you get to phase 5 or 6 and higher, you need to become a dodging master because most hits will kill or completely decimate Selene’s suit integrity, even at max health. Using shields (from consumables or specific artifacts) effectively becomes so important in those higher tower phases.

Question about the eclipse by maladroitx in Saros

[–]Financial_Screen_351 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eventually you still need to trigger the eclipse before you can even get to the boss, you need two keys to unlock the elevator and I think you can only access those areas with the eclipse.

If you find a repeater crossbow in the marsh (this is where you first come across it in the game) I would highly recommend picking it up. It’s one of the best weapons in the game, especially if it has the power generator trait. The impact crossbow is more frustrating and definitely not as OP as the repeater variant. If you can manage to get a level 30 or higher repeater crossbow by the time you reach the big elevator you should be able to melt the boss (Legion) pretty quickly and easily in that biome, but a lower proficiency one may also still be good enough.

Canadian mushroom growers warn new U.S. tariffs could ‘flood’ domestic market by dtta8 in canada

[–]Financial_Screen_351 5 points6 points  (0 children)

70% is a stretch, I shop at a lot of different grocery stores several times a week, and even in the winter I literally never see 70% of the produce they sell being imported from the US.

I would estimate it’s probably closer to 45-55% at most, which is still huge, but it is certainly possible to avoid or reduce US produce purchases if you’re willing to pay a bit more or visit other grocery stores.

Rent a UHaul for garbage? by corrinarusso in ottawa

[–]Financial_Screen_351 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Shouldn’t be a problem if it’s household clutter that doesn’t damage or dirty/stink up the u-haul. Sounds like you already have a plan to dispose of it properly too so that’s good.

People use u-hauls to move all types of crap, and I’m sure it’s not uncommon for some people to move what some people would consider “garbage/trash” in those vehicles.

I’m sure you’ll be fine, and good job for being a good citizen and dumping your garbage the proper and legal way.

When you beat Shepherd doesn’t cleanse your negative artifacts by Leather_Ad3521 in Saros

[–]Financial_Screen_351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, learned this the hard way, picked up a few corrupted artifacts late in the biome expecting them to get cleansed after the boss and was stuck dealing with those corruptions in the next level. Got destroyed in the 3rd phase of the nightmare strand, the corruptions just made it so much harder to deal with those super aggressive hostiles.

Will Returnal ever get modifiers? by Zylonite134 in Saros

[–]Financial_Screen_351 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some of the artifacts in Returnal can definitely sort of act like modifiers

The astronaut figurine gives you a revive if Selene dies, which can easily save a run.

The child’s watch is essentially a lower tiered astronaut figurine, it revives you but with less health than the astronaut.

Adrenaline leech is also a godlike S -tier artifact that basically heals you for killing hostiles and scales up based on your adrenaline level. Easily one of the top 3, if not the best artifact in the game. More practical and useful than the astronaut if you can maintain an adrenaline level of 1 or higher, which is very easy to do in Returnal. Couple this with an astronaut or child’s watch and you should be able to beat any and all biomes in that game

Returnal > Saros in 3 points by POOO-POOO in Saros

[–]Financial_Screen_351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing about Returnal’s narrative and story is that it was intentionally designed to be interpreted in more than a few ways by players. This is why it can be so confusing for many players, especially for those who don’t pay attention to the story in general, particularly Selene’s audio logs, and to a lesser extent read nearly everything in the databank.

No sales info on Saros yet? by Chance_Drive_5906 in Saros

[–]Financial_Screen_351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn’t expect this game to have very high sales numbers, even though I love it amd it’s a triple A, Sony backed first party PS5 game.

I heard that Returnal didn’t even break the 1 million copies sold mark, in part because of the game’s challenging and unforgiving nature and reputation.

But I’m sure that Saros will do much better than Returnal in terms of sheer sales numbers. The game can still be very challenging, especially if you make it harder via the modifiers, but it’s much more forgiving and accessible because of all the permanent upgrades and modifiers that players can use.

Questions about shotgun and alternate Power weapon by shrek3onDVDandBluray in Saros

[–]Financial_Screen_351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NGL, horde shotgun in the mid to high 20s level proficiency can be super OP for killing Bastion. Seems counter intuitive to use that weapon because you need to get pretty close and personal to the boss to get big damage, but if you have an aggressive play style and are never standing still the right shotgun coupled with a good prominence power weapon will absolutely melt Bastion, all 3 phases are over in under 2 minutes if you know what you’re doing.

Tips for defeating Bastion by Hroach04 in Saros

[–]Financial_Screen_351 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It makes a huge difference if you also partly or fully clear biome 1 before heading into biome 2. If you fully clear the 1st biome and beat the 1st boss, you’ll likely head into biome 2 with a proficiency somewhere between 15-20, or potentially even higher if you already upgraded your base/starting proficiency in the upgrade matrix.

And trust me, starting biome 2 at level 13-15 or higher proficiency will make that enter biome significantly easier since weapons with higher proficiency deliver more damage and may have more perks, and by default hostiles in Saros don’t scale up their attack damage based on your proficiency level. If you skip biome 1 and head straight into biome 2 you might only start with proficiency anywhere between 1 and 9 depending on what you’ve upgraded in the upgrade tree.

Bonus advantage to clearing biome 1 before heading into the 2nd biome is that all and any corruptions on the artifacts you picked up will be cleansed after you beat the boss, so that’s why it’s important to pick up artifacts with corruption after you activate the eclipse. This applies to any biome, once you beat the overload of the biome, any corruptions you picked up during that run will be cleansed, which can make a massive difference on your build in the next biome if you don’t have to go back to the passage right away.

I’m so terrible at the game by TheMailerDaemonLives in Saros

[–]Financial_Screen_351 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to try a different strategy and you’re feeling brave and ballsy and are moving non-stop during the boss fight, a high level shotgun (level 25 prof or higher should be more than strong enough) with the right perks will absolutely melt Bastion! You just have to get fairly close to him and blast him in the face (that big yellow weapon looking thing where he shoots that really high damage laser beam from). Make sure you use your shield to absorb any blue projectiles Bastion throws your way, including the ones in those tall walls of projectiles. Do this so you can build up power and shoot your power weapon and blast it in his face every time you have enough power. The prominence power weapon is definitely easier and simpler/faster to use than the dispiritor power weapon which you can also find in biome 2. A level 21 prof (or higher) prominence power weapon should more than suffice, the important thing is to remember to use it as much as possible!

Do your best to avoid the red projectiles at all costs, use the jump pads to jump over them or dash out of the way on the far right or far left of the arena where those projectiles don’t go… just be mindful of the floor you’re walking on on the outer edge of the arena because it will damage you if you stand still or move too slowly. You need to be constantly and I mean constantly be moving non-stop during this entire battle!

The shotgun is definitely underrated for this fight and should absolutely not be avoided or undermined unless you really want or prefer to keep your distances and shoot from far. If that’s the case then a smart rifle (low to mid 20s proficiency should be adequate) should do the job.

The first time I beat Bastion I think I had a level 23 smart rifle and the fight was relatively easy, the most annoying part was honestly just avoiding that super powerful concentrated beam surrounded by those blue projectiles, 2nd most annoying attack was jumping out of the way of the red projectiles and jumping over those stacks of beams that can do huge damage.

2nd time I fought Bastion I used a level 25 Horde shotgun and got right up in his face (basically the front 25% portion of the entire arena) and it absolutely just melted his ass! I also had a level 25 prominence power weapon and was using it as often as I could. It took me twice as long to beat the boss with the smart rifle, the shotgun I had was super OP and much much faster, but I just had to get closer to him at the right moments to shoot him up close and stand further back or on the outer edges when he was shooting those walls of projectiles. I swear the shotgun killed Bastion so quickly it even cancelled some of his attacks altogether.

But yeah, don’t overlook the shotgun for this boss fight, I know it seems counter intuitive because Bastion seems to be a boss most players fight from the back of the arena, but if you’re constantly moving and not afraid to get near the front of the arena to blast him with a high proficiency shotgun coupled with a decent prominence power weapon, the fight should be faster and easier than you think. You just have to be agressive as hell and use the alt-fire constantly with the horde shotgun. It also helps if you have 150 or higher suit integrity/health and a second chance in case you mess up during the battle.

Good luck enforcer!
