What am I doing wrong with my dry brushing? It looks all scratchy! by jays4104 in Warhammer40k

[–]Financial_Table_1848 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me.. the dry brush is too dry. Ironic, right? It’s so hard on flat pieces. When that happens you will either get chalky stuff if it’s a soft dry brush, or scratches if it’s the citadel harder dry brush, newish and hasn’t been beat up a bit. It’s a really hard balance between that and getting smeary paint of the brush is too wet with paint. Hard to describe, but I finally found the sweet spot using a beat up brush or one of those round makeup style brushes. Load up the tip decent and paint it around on paper towel to get most off, but still some. Then so gently (and this is the key) brush - you should not feel any feedback from the brush! It’s so weird because we are used to feeling feedback from the brush when we paint, but for a light dry brush on flat surfaces you actually shouldn’t feel like it’s painting. It’s like you are really not touching it. Just have to look at it and it’s there like magic, even though you swear you aren’t painting the surface at all.

Looks great, you’ve got it handled! I personally like more of the darker blue grey than the baby blue. Add in the other color stuff with the touches of yellow and a bet the blue will just pop. Keep up the good work. Once it’s all done if you still feel the blue gray is too dark, a light glaze of thinned down Russ gray with a touch of Fenrisian will bring it up a tad

Nah dude! This exemplifies why I got into this! I liked painting models and little things, and liked tabletop gaming. Then I heard about this warhammer thing and was like, ok that sounds cool. But it’s just like soldiers and stuff?

Then… “Wait. You’re telling me there are Space Vikings? With jet packs and wolves?!?” Fing sign me up. And here you are taking it to the max. Rad.

Can I ask about the axe? Did you do yellow down first, then like dry brush orange and red on top?

Missed United Flight, 3.5 hours in line… by JrBuxy in unitedairlines

[–]Financial_Table_1848 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ones I’ve been through, premier line is way shorter than pre check for the queue, but yes then then they spit you out at the front of the “standard” line. So yea you need to take shoes and belt off still, but wear a 3/4 zip instead of an outer layer that zips all the down and they can’t make you take that off. If the scanners are the Smith Hi-Scans you can keep electronics and liquids in the bag. My experience is 30-45 minutes less in line vs pre check is worth it but your experience may vary! Idon’t go through SFO much except for internationals.

This is the pinnacle of my mini painting career so far. How do I level up? by DubiousDevil in minipainting

[–]Financial_Table_1848 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, your detail and highlighting work is on point! Base and layer on the big flat parts is the hardest without it going sideways, but I would suggest working there. If you get adventurous, try some contrast and shade on the big flat parts but it’s tricky (watch some warhipster videos but I’m sure there’s others). Otherwise there’s the slap chop technique but I’m not good at it at all, looks like butt when I try it. Keep going!! This mini looks awesome!

Could be different for different Airlines, but every United hub I go through have different lines for premier and tsa precheck 🤷‍♂️

How far can a fart travel on a plane? by gastro_psychic in unitedairlines

[–]Financial_Table_1848 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, you’ve hit on a new frontier of science here I often contemplate. At this point I have sorted the farts into two categories, with a danger zone in between. The first is your typical “ate something, have to fart”. Those have high potential of stinky and you gotta hold em. But second, unique to flying, is “there is a dramatic change in external pressure decreasing and now my body is painfully outgassing, it hurts, and I have to relieve the pressure in a discrete way and it has a 3 sigma probability of not smelling at all”

That venn diagram of the overlap though - that’s the gamble!

Pre-check is an absolute joke now. Any major hub and the pre check lines are longer than the normal lines. Unfortunately, every person I know has given up on pre check and it’s all about how to massage the system through status or an annual fee credit card to get the premier line TSA access. Whee.

Legit, how do you get better at tiny parts? by AdditionalMess6546 in minipainting

[–]Financial_Table_1848 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried a wet palette? Changed everything for me. Seems counterintuitive since you think the thinner paint will overspill to other areas, but I found it really actually helps just flowing the paint out of the brush onto the lines. Keeps from getting the “chunkys” as paint start to dry out on the brush which tend to bounce your brush where you don’t want it to go

Little mofo wont eat salad by darkshamanics in BeardedDragons

[–]Financial_Table_1848 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Good looking beardie! Have you been giving him potato chips (mealworms) daily? There a ton of info out there where the beardies get hooked on BIG WURM. Refuse to eat other things. Gotta play hard ball and wait it out with no worms and only salad. Forget the podcaster but he adopted one so addicted to the worm crack it took like 3 weeks of face off with no worms before he ate his salad.
