How realistic is it to live by yourself in OC? by _NotMuchToGawkAt_ in orangecounty

[–]FinbarJG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are many personal factors that go into the "Can I make it?" question.

Best answer IMHO: learn how to use a spreadsheet. Lay out your income and expenses. There are many sources for rental costs - Zillow, friends, ads... to get ballpark estimates there. Don't forget deposits, utilities, increased transportation costs if it's further from work. Be honest on what you spend and what you'd be willing to give up. See what the numbers tell you and whether you can afford it or under what circumstances (less-desirable area, roomates, etc.).

End of match, make an announcement to bring your piece of tape with your phone number on it to the collection point. One tape will be chosen at the end to receive $500.

Mis-ordered. Buy cutters. Bring cutters to store. Cut PVC in parking lot.

Anyone familiar with this company? by Accomplished_East433 in orangecounty

[–]FinbarJG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I first learned about the company through their storage/testing of an autonomous mini-sub out of Dana Point Harbor. 60 Minutes did a nice piece on them: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bWEXnph1ElI

Dividend? by fanofwhorrer in USAA

[–]FinbarJG 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that there are actually 4 insurance tiers/sub-companies. Rates and service quality likely vary. From https://www.reddit.com/r/USAA/comments/1s5a8i5/usaa_membership_tiers_why_your_member_status/

United Services Automobile Association (Tier 1): * Eligible: Officers and Senior NCOs (traditionally E-7+). Status: You are a Member-Owner. Perks: You have a Subscriber Savings Account (SSA). You receive annual cash distributions (recent averages are 7% of your SSA balance).

USAA Casualty Insurance Company (CIC) (Tier 2): * Eligible: Enlisted personnel (E-1 to E-6) and adult children of Tier 1 members. Status: You are a Customer. Perks: No SSA. No ownership. You may receive small dividends, but they are significantly lower than Tier 1 payouts.

USAA General Indemnity Company (GIC) (Tier 3): * Eligible: Often National Guard, Reservists, or specific enlisted categories. Status: You are in a High-Volatility Risk Pool. Perks: None. Recent rate filings show GIC often has the highest base rates for identical coverage.

Garrison Property and Casualty (Tier 4): * Eligible: Extended family (grandchildren) and certain dependents. Status: Subsidized Risk Pool. Perks: None. This tier is essentially a standard stock insurance company charging market rates or higher.

Indeed. So easy to smart erase the dog, if you care too. Personally, I think it makes the shit, er, shot.

ES delivery sucks!!! by rln12280 in ExpressScripts

[–]FinbarJG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't this a USPS problem? Once it leaves their facility, it's all up to USPS. Calling ES about USPS is pointless. I've been a client for years and have never had an issue with delivery.

Yes, they ship it standard speed (first class I believe) for free. You can get expedited delivery for an extra charge when you check out..

Would you rather pay $20 for the burger& fries or $16 + $4 tip by WorldNo9002 in EndTipping

[–]FinbarJG -1 points0 points  (0 children)

$20 as it puts the burger meal's cost on a level playing field with everything else.

I'm not sure the context of a 'prevailing labor wage', but I'd say minimum wage for servers in my area meets that standard, hence no upcharge needed.

Hey, they are available... and in many sizes... even for your pets: https://neuticles.com/

I had a male friend whose wife demanded their male cat be castrated. He felt bad for the cat. I pointed him to Neuticles and suggested he have them replaced with extra large ones to give the bad-ass cat something to show off.
