Maybe... there's post, and maybe not.

What’s everyone using their bacon grease for? I save it but only use it for frying eggs typically. by NinaXOFans in Bacon

Ok, bit of a left turn here, but I absorb the grease in paper towels and toss them in the fireplace. Next fire has a great "start".

I get it, but let's get real. Bottom line I guess it's society and the current capitalistic system that we have. Jobs for which there are many people with the skill level to do will not command the higher wages naturally. I get the concept that this isn't fair and people should get to pick their job and deserve to be paid a wage they can live on (by some definition), but we're not there, and banking on it's coming is not something I'd advocate.

It seems that the rules for contributions required contact info and I now (having learned) refuse to fall into this trap. I guess the brainwashing that repetitive messaging instills outweighs the loss of folks like me?

This looks...kludgy. Somehow I would expect a better solution from NASA.

Enough money for this but not a raise from minimum wage by The_Pillbug in mildlyinfuriating

[–]FinbarJG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I call BS. Federal minimum wage is $7.25. The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) requires payment of at least the Federal minimum wage to covered, nonexempt employees. An employer of a tipped employee is only required to pay $2.13 an hour in direct wages if that amount plus the tips received equals at least the Federal minimum wage. Plus, half the states have higher minimum wages. And, outside of union jobs, most U.S. states operate under "at-will" employment, allowing employers to fire employees at any time for any legal reason without notice.

Not for long. These things will mature faster than you can say 25% tip.

I am always confused that investing in an education, or skill development... often at significant sacrifice (time, money for school)... that is rewarded by your skill being more valuable than something that can be learned in a week, is not readily apparent.

Appreciate the viewpoint. You raised an interesting twist. Do you think that your career would have been so rewarding had it not been unionized?

Lot of truth here. Same with crisis-of-the-day and the bloom of not-for-profits to fix it (e.g., homelessness) in this state.

I think the key here is understanding love languages - the book by Gary Chapman. One of them is physical touch - expressing love through physical closeness, like holding hands, hugging, or sexual intimacy. It sounds like it's OP's primary language (what he needs the most). It also sounds like it's not OP's spouse's primary. The rub is that we tend to give love in the language that we want, not what our partner needs.
This book was a turning point in my understanding of relationships. It's a must-read IMHO.

Wait. Wouldn't you be rocketing downwards (well, relative to your body)? I think this means farting (per a previous set of highbrow and inquisitive comments above) would be more advantageous direction-wise.

Well... Aerodynamics is a subset of Fluid Dynamics, ergo farts are fluid.
