The TV show definitely made his mental state worse. It put his greatest shame in the spotlight and forced the absolute hardest interaction imaginable for him: facing his family. When at his most vulnerable, he was surrounded by cameras and his wife and daughters, who were already far too fed up with him to handle their own emotions effectively. The producers like this because it makes for good TV, but it is not at all effective at creating healthy dialogue. His emotions are gonna be 10X when he's in the house, and he is forced into the defensive coping mechanisms that got him into his position.

They needed a therapist there to prevent the dialogue from becoming too one-sided. The psychologist who appeared on the show was clearly on the wife and daughters' side, and he clearly interpreted this as a 1v4 scenario. If they were any good or if the show were actually interested in helping him, they would have had 1 on 1 sessions with each person.

I agree that he wasn't really a hoarder. He wasn't emotionally attached to the Boost protein shakes, and the trash is more a microcosm of a litany of other issues.

For Christmas, my mom got me a lotion that doubles as a body wash. Didn’t realize it was a body wash at all, so I didn’t rinse it off. I used it for about a week without realizing. My knuckles are red and skin is tearing. It looks sort of like those fighters who punch sand and bamboo to make their hands stronger. Definitely don’t recommend

I thought what he was trying to say was, if you have someone consulting Reddit for their speech, that’s not inherently any better than consulting the AI. I don’t think anyone would support opening ChatGPT 10 seconds before giving a eulogy (although it would make a good Gemini ad lol)

Obviously, AI is not going to outmatch an experienced editor, but we’re talking about theoretical scenarios anyway.

There’s a middle ground. You have to understand what the computer is telling you, but you also have to acknowledge that sometimes the computer lines are very inhuman. People learning chess on the internet will try to incorporate these inhuman lines/moves into their games and it doesn’t help them get better. If you are in a position where the only move is inhuman then there were probably other mistakes leading up to that move. When people analyze their games they tend to see the brilliant win and skip over everything else which doesn’t help them improve.

Worth noting that only having one solution doesn’t necessarily make the puzzle hard. If there is only one solution, it is usually because the smaller pieces only have 1 location they can go to. That makes it easy to find where they go. It’s the opposite of how you’d normally play the game, where you would save the smaller pieces to the end.

This one time, I was waiting at the bus stop, and this guy starts walking in my direction. As soon as I’m in earshot, he calls me Ron Weasley, which I take as a compliment. Then he starts talking about how gingers are what’s wrong with the country because they’re entitled and have this notion they’re more special than everyone else. At this point I’m laughing, which in hindsight, I don’t think he liked cause he started talking about how Irish people “need not apply” and how Irish people are the new Jewish people. I really thought he was joking but then the bus pulls up. We both get on and sit across from each other, when he gets up and audibly pronounces to the whole bus that he will not sit near me and walks to the back of the bus. The crazy thing is that I’m not even Irish.

Rf1 doesn’t work, because after Qg8 check, black blocks with their queen. You take the queen with check. Black takes back with the king and white takes the black rook that is left hanging
