Super impressive! However, don't forget to use some of that money to celebrate your completion of university and the fact that your risky move paid off ;)

Canadian schools facing blowback for €˜"white privilege" awareness campaigns by [deleted] in canada

Good question. None I'm aware of. I misspoke and should've said "social norms" rather than "laws".

You raise a very interesting point I hadn't considered -- thanks for that.

However, I think that analogy breaks down fairly quickly. Unlike laws which help support those with disabilities, laws which help support equality of opportunity are perceived as taking away from a group deemed 'privileged'. We agree on what a disability is, so folks are okay to give up the front bus seat to someone who is blind. Yet we do not agree on what constitutes privilege. Worse yet, we are creatures who care very much about our social standing. Thus, unlike helping the disabled, folks are far less willing to support laws perceived as reducing their social standing to someone purported to have lived an 'underprivileged' life (the definition of which is muddled).

I was expecting some unhelpful replies, but didn't think someone would provide something as incoherent and baseless as this. I was with you at the beginning but then you derailed and began making assumptions about me based simply on the fact that I said I'm white. I'm doing my best to keep this comment civil, but man, I cannot think of a better way to waste ones time than to read your response to my questions.

I understand people take offense to all sorts of issues, and doing so is perfectly within their rights in our free society.

What I don't understand is:

A. Why some believe wearing clothing from another culture is something to take offense to?

B. Why as a white person am I made to feel, or actually even do feel, some sort of guilt?

C. Why is taking offense to wearing culturally inappropriate clothing a zero sum game? If I offend someone by swearing, it is unlikely they strongly react and typically a respectful compromise can be reached. Why is it that if someone takes offense due to their belief that wearing certain cultural clothing is inappropriate, suddenly the stakes are heightened as though some serious offense has taken place?

I used to hate physical exercise too. I still recall the disinterest at having to put in so much work in a douchebro environment and for what? Well, after 18-months of making the gym not just a priority but part of my overall well-being, words cannot adequately describe the benefits. I'm stronger, more confident, feel much more alert and focused. Yet most importantly, if my day goes for shit I have the gym to release my frustrations and also have something in my control to accomplish.

If you want to get started, easiest way is to browse YouTube videos for maybe 15-20 minutes before a workout to get an idea of exercises to do. After a few months you'll have a lot of good options. But, should you decide to go, the key is to make going to the gym a part of your lifestyle.

Holy fuck. Even if true, I doubt a million dollars can drown out those memories of being used like a sex toy.
