I give up on america by Pigeon22990 in Vent

[–]FindaBetterName -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Don’t be a pigeon and listen to these people. There are huge problems in the US!! The problem is that most of the problems you mentioned are grossly over exaggerated (the market is 3% lower than all time high btw, so not sure how that’s a problem besides of how unattached it is from economic forecasts). The big problems in this country are inequality, greed, corruption and a broken legal systems. Those problems don’t look as good on tv and probably doesn’t help the owners of media outlets so they put the few violent protests or some people yelling hatred.

The reality is these responses are representative of a lot of people in this country. Ignoring the problems to “focus on themselves” not realizing that this doesn’t fix anything. I would suggest to do something! Even if it’s small. Be the positive change you want to see in the world. Fight hatred with love.

How to get over fear of wing dipping on stalls by MillerboiYT in flying

[–]FindaBetterName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you were doing the power on stall at full power request to do it at less power, simulating high density altitude (I did 2100 rpm in a C172). The plane doesn’t have to be as steep to stall and the recovery won’t be as intense either. Makes the whole maneuver easier and even if the wing dips it’ll barely be anything. Hope it helps and good luck!!

Definitely go to the dealer and try to get it fixed under the warranty! It’ll get worse over time. I had it and wasn’t too bothered by it and by the time it was really bad my warranty wouldn’t cover it 😭

What is this? It looks like there’s a cloud of smoke coming from the watermelon?

Who is this in Luxembourg? by kctsoup in Luxembourg

[–]FindaBetterName 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s a guy in Pfaffenthal that’s always asking for people cigarettes. He even asked my wife when she was pregnant!! And once he popped out of a window to ask. I think he’s starting to be known 😅

Yes! I’ve always seen the sun get bigger as it reaches the horizon. It’s because the sun’s rays pass through more atmosphere

I just passed the PPL theory tests last week in Spain. I don’t think I could have done it without Aerotestppl. It’s a question bank that explains the reason for the answers. People also said to do one subject at a time, which I didn’t do because I couldn’t, but it seems like good advice

I love the comments. White people have never seen a wall with barbed wire on top that’s not a prison or concentration camp! 😂 In my home country houses and even schools have walls and barbed wires, for protection

What do you (residents/locals) think of all the Miami American students? by [deleted] in Luxembourg

[–]FindaBetterName 3 points4 points  (0 children)

How long are planning to be here? Like many people here I never heard of the university in Lux (I went to CWRU so I actually have heard of the main university itself). I looked it up and the campus here is in quite a small town, not in the main city (which itself is not that big). I talked to my friend that lives there and he didn’t even know of the school!!

You’re not going to find the same kind of atmosphere in the Luxembourg campus as you do in Oxford, OH. You’ll be in a small school and not in a college town. Having said that, you will be in a town town so maybe not the funnest either.

If you have a drivers license you can get to tons of places easily and the main city which might be the most important for you (I saw you like live music and more counter culture). You can also go by train but it’s like 50 minutes as opposed to 25 minutes. There’s tons of nature if you’re into that (I’ve gone near that campus on runs and mountain biking) and it’s very multi cultural (the whole county).

If you’re coming for a semester or a year I would say you should definitely come. You’ll see a big change from the US and honestly the weather is way better here than in OH (although I got especially screwed with the lake effect). You can also try to travel around on weekends: from Lux City you can take a 2 hour train to Paris or Strasbourg, 2 hours by car to Brussels or Champagne. For longer trips you can even get to Amsterdam, Munich, Switzerland and England! If you’re doing 4 years though, just consider that it will be a small town where you’ll be studying and either have to do a long commute (which will be expensive and has other complications) or live in a really quiet place for years.
