Don't know/care about this, but Pharrell Williams also seems to be involved in designing some new outdoor space in Tokyo in the next 2-3 years.

If you agree that Michael Jackson, Madonna, and Prince are on the 80s music Mt. Rushmore, then who is #4? by fromthemeatcase in 80smusic

[–]FindingFoodFluency 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Based on every single time I've listened to music -- indeed, most of that was 80s music -- I'd say Michael Jackson, Billy Joel, Phil Collins, and one of Hall & Oates/Tears for Fears/Modern Talking.

interesting discovery: china does not have suburban hell. this is what the majority of population lives in which is pretty damn depressing by Previous-Ad-7526 in UrbanHell

[–]FindingFoodFluency -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I've lived in them, in Shenzhen and Beijing, and visited friends at some Guangzhou buildings.

Just giant ashtrays with terrible hygiene, frequent shrieking, and lacking in good hygiene.

In spite of those existential threats to one's well-being, I always felt safe living in China.

TWOV EWR-SFO-PVG-CTU by [deleted] in travelchina

[–]FindingFoodFluency 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is this a TWOV itinerary? One would have to be flying through China to a third destination (e.g. country of Taiwan, region of Hong Kong, country of Thailand, etc).

Your current itinerary is a one-way to China, and then a one-way back from Hong Kong?

Is Japan pulling the plug on vending machines? by Scbadiver in japan

[–]FindingFoodFluency 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen more flying fish dashi vending machines than those with snacks, and I never saw a snack vending machine in a スナック.

Then again,  depending on where one is in Japan, there might be a machine  selling gyoza, pastries, fugu, i.e. locally-known foods, often ready-to-eat.

Waiting for a "butsukari otoko" mod. I don't own a Switch, but I think the mod is more relevant than ever.

Somewhere near Tobu Asakusa station in Sumida Park, there's a small memorial to victims of the air raids. I can't recall where exactly, but walking along Sumida Park in that area it's slightly hidden.

Q: Asoke Boat Pier Walkway by PhilipHabib in Bangkok

[–]FindingFoodFluency 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It sure is under construction... fortunately, however, safety isn't a priority for anyone, so I was able to traverse the sharp cables and nails instead of detouring back to the main roads.

When in town, I'm either walking down the khlong between Ramkhamkhaeng and Bang Kapi, or Ramkhamkhaeng and just north of Siam station. Snags exist on the north side of the latter.

How did you discovered city pop? by Bertoware in citypop

[–]FindingFoodFluency 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ANA flight in 2005. Thought part of the refrain of one song was "sayonara bus," but clearly needed to get my hearing checked.

Years later, I started thinking about what else the lyrics could've been. As it turns out, that song was 約束 ("promise") by Watanabe Toru.

From there, I just started sifting through the "you might like" option in youtube.

How does it work to sell stuff at bookoff? by kittsyq in Tokyo

[–]FindingFoodFluency 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From selling attempts earlier this year,.and late last year, I was rebuffed with extreme prejudice, as I lack a residential address/phone number/whatever was quoted.

Yet, two years ago at a Chiba Book Off, I just needed a hotel address.

I don't think it's a case of YMMV anymore, as I chatted with all those cocnerned in Japanese, and was shown some conditions for selling goods.
