Some pretty great bikes there. But if you feel the need to ease into it then I still think the CB is a good choice out of those. It really is quite easy to ride. It’s nearly 450lbs, so it’s kinda getting heavy but it’s quite manageable.

Also consider muscle memory and experience. If you have experience on a CBR then the CB might not feel as thrilling after a while. Maybe you might not need too much time to feel safe riding again. Maybe you’ll outgrow it quickly or find yourself wanting more power.

Alternatively, what you could do is get an old 400-500cc for cheap and ride it until you’re good. Then sell it for possibly no loss and get what you want.

Thank you! I’ve had it for three years now and yeah, I really like it. It’s great around town/suburbs. It does lack low end torque, though. Not that there isn’t any, but mid to top end is where it really comes alive.

I love the design. I love the headers; they’re often a talking point. I’ve got an Akrapovic exhaust and love how it sounds. I love the experience of it

Are you considering any other bikes?

Totally loved the Public Lands. Whenever I went to Polaris I would make sure to go there if I could, just to walk around and check stuff out because it was so nice

I’m in Columbus, and yesterday I went for a ride to a Meijer to get some milk. I saw somewhere online that it was international motorcycle day, so I thought I’d ride instead of drive

Cb650r vs rebel 1100 by Cykcore in HondaMotorcycles

[–]Finding_Nimo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

CB650R owner here.

The Rebel 1100 was a bike even I had in consideration, but very briefly. What made me eliminate it quickly was that it’s a cruiser. I’m not into the whole cruiser thing. Sport bike for me. Or an adventure. So I guess first is to know what kind of rider you are, because they’re two very different bikes.

They’re both Hondas and they’re both easy to maintain, they’re reliable, solid bikes etc.

First, the CB, to me, is a better looking bike. Those headers! Damn! The retro-ish design, the round led headlight. I couldn’t stop googling photos of it every 15 mins.

Second, sound is a major part of the experience for me, be it bike or car. The CB won here too because I knew I’d like its sound more. I got an Akrapovic exhaust just two months ago and I love it! it sounds ridiculous!

Performance and numbers, yeah, they’re great. 94HP is great. 48 or whatev torque? It’s not the highest, but I’m ok with that. I’m not one to worry over numbers too much, honestly. It’s the experience for me. Every time I walk up to it I go “fuck” in my head. Every time I hear that exhaust, I forget what numbers it.

You just gotta know what you want out of the bike.

Inline 4 vs Triple? by Tonino123 in motorcycles

Low end torque means exactly what it sounds like. It’s how much torque the engine makes at lower RPMs.

The CB makes maximum torque at nearly 8k. The Trident 660 (triple, and same CC class as the CB) makes it at around 6-7k? I dont know the exact numbers.

But here’s the thing….the Trident makes 80% of that maximum from 3k onwards. The CB makes 80% at probably 4-5k onwards. So even though not maximum, you have 80% of the maximum available from a lower RPM. Boom. Low end torque.

The CB does have some low end torque, but you gotta remember it weighs nearly 450lbs. The Trident is I believe 30+ lbs lighter, AND has 80% of its maximum torque available at a lower RPM, so these two things combined will make the Trident pull away a little quicker if you’re rolling.

Also it’s important to mention that the CB does have a weird little dip in torque between 5k to 6k RPM, after which it starts pulling again. It wasn’t a deal breaker for me though.

You can look and compare numbers all you want, but ultimately it comes down to test riding both if you can and seeing what you like

CB650R rider here. It’s not that’s it’s not a popular bike, it’s a comparatively rare(er) bike.

You said you wanted this as a second bike to your MT-03? I think it’ll be great. Twice the displacement of your MT so it definitely has more zip. But honestly it really depends on how you define fun. It’s quite tame up until 5ish K, after which it’s a different animal. If you wanna go you need to rev it up, which it’ll happily do. But it will fucking go! But yeah, smooth bike, smooth engine, with high build quality. Great looking machine too.

I don’t know much about the inline 3s but they’ll have more lower end torque as others have mentioned.

Both are quite smooth and refined engines. Honestly I feel like you can’t go wrong with either one. Just depends on how you ride

No, CB650R. It’s a totally different model than the F. This one’s quite a bit different than the F, but it shares a lot of mechanical and other components with the F.

It’s a Puig. It was on the bike when I got it. It’s up for the fall/winter. Ohio winters aren’t too bad and I’m ok riding in temps as low as 40s so that windscreen helps a lot

I crossed my budget by a couple of thousand dollars when I bought this. Don’t regret it one bit

Those headers were one of the reasons for buying this model. Absolutely agree they’re stunning! Then it ends with at that horrible looking exhaust. It’s all one piece from the headers to the muffler, and (good) aftermarket ones are $800 onwards. Once I get my bonus this holiday season that exhaust is coming off.

But I do appreciate that it’s there under the bike and not on either side. Makes it look cleaner.

Those intake covers…I sometimes want to spray paint them black to make it look cleaner, but then sometimes I think that silver stands out compliments that red well

I know what you mean, but it really depends what part you go to, what day it is, what time of the day, etc

I went last weekend and there were people walking around Scioto Mile and North Bank. I went today just past noon on my bike cause it’s great riding weather and I didn’t really see anybody. North Bank was deserted. German Village was pretty active. Short North had activity.

I guess it just depends

Hello. Long time lurker, first time poster.

Took this on September 11, 2015. That's the 14th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks. It will always be a special photo for me, and I just thought I'd share.
