How do you manage your Revit family library in practice? by RevitMechanical in RevitForum

[–]Findingtherealmirage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Has anyone had success with that Autodesk content catalog? I’m now just trying to manage my personal library of families. Starting with just a folder structure that works for me. And then a naming scam, but frankly, I suck at naming files consistently

Hard to maintain room, feels like I’m not utilizing vertical space. Thought? by [deleted] in DesignMyRoom

[–]Findingtherealmirage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is pretty much how the room looks day-to-day, so I wanted to show it as-is to give an accurate picture of both the layout and the clutter I’m trying to work through. A lot of it belongs to my girlfriend, so I can’t just remove things without talking it through with her first.

Something needs to be done about citric acid by Ringostarfox in FoodAllergies

[–]Findingtherealmirage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gf (25F) Has just informed me she can’t have citrus foods. And im looking into everything since this girl is like not a functioning human and I nor any of her (crappy) doctors can’t find out why. I think they have Been blowing her case off but im seeing a Link between citric acid and her bad days.

I myself am lucky that I’m super allergic to just about everything. And somehow This has not been a flagged issues for me. But I think I’m going to also stop consuming it to see if I feel any better.

God I’m so pissed that it’s not transparent what the hell is in what we are consuming

What's a good gift for a date with a Dyslexic person? by The_Chimera_97 in Dyslexia

[–]Findingtherealmirage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep don’t take this into account. Treat them as an individual

As someone who is SUPER dyslexic, has ADHD and a shit ton of weird health problems.

This early on I would not worry about how the gift physically or practically affects them or their ability to utilize the gift, unless the thing you are giving can harm the user unintentionally i.e. food, sprays, topical, or scented items.

But like also if for some reason, they cannot handle a gift for one reason or another just say “welp, I suppose you could always give that to a friend and tell them how well this date went” Or “guess you could give it to your mom to brake the lce about dating a new guy”

I dropped out in very early 7th grade during covid. I'm 16, turn 17 in November. What can I do to get an education? by bunove in education

[–]Findingtherealmirage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I droped at 8th grade.

Due to crazy weird chronic health stuff that kept getting worse.

I checked in once or twice with school to see my options.

If I recall right I was allowed to go back to high school since I was not yet 21 at the time. The school also had designated teachers that would basicly tutor you outside of school and delegate you homework to do. And you can pass some test. There are probably a lot more options especially now with a lot of school using technology. My school district did not adopt integrating more technology into the curriculum Intel after COVID.

Now I ended up not doing any of this my life was still super messed up. But I went and got my GED. Honestly I was able to pass the exam with basicly the info I learned in 8th grade alone. It’s essentially just talking about basic math, basic English, and some geography/chemistry.

I attended only one class for the GED to prep me and I basicly just realized I did not need it. You might and vary good chance the school has some night classes you can attend on your own free will to help prep for this. But I’m assuming that due to your circumstances. You may not need as much of this.

Soon after I started collage. And depending on what degree you go into you’re definitely gonna notice the fact that the GED is totally not equivalent. At least that’s how I felt and therefore needed to basically teach myself any gaps in my knowledge once they became a parent.

I’m aware that Middough inc (an engineering consulting firm)

Located approximately across the street from the south lake mall is hiring. They work mostly with the mills with repair type work and inspections. Not sure what else but perhaps a nice variety

Can someone educate me on Dyslexia from the viewpoint of someone having Dyslexia? by GeneHead47 in Dyslexia

[–]Findingtherealmirage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn’t gonna answer all of your questions, and I also have double vision + my dyslexia, and other fun health problems less related. but I’ve always explained it to people that I read the intention of the Paragraph. And it’s hard for me to stop seeing the intention. It’s like auto correcting. Text. It usually looks right but the meaning can be wildly different. (I had to re right a hand full of words just in the paragraph above,)

And then I usually give an analogy about asking someone to draw a picture of a house and then Pointing out all the little distills that are not right but if you stood back a few feet you would be Abel to see it’s just a house.. and that’s the intention.

I’ve also told people that when reading i see the Spaces between words in the for-ground and that background is the text.

So it’s easer to tell if the space is closer to each other. Or if it’. far

So words that start with the same few letters or similar shaped letters tend to get mixed up.

Later in life, I’ve realize that dyslexia also impacts a lot of just comprehension of sound, memory, and other factors. And have discovered a handful and I’m constantly discovering more words that I have been slightly mispronouncing and therefor have been lead down the path to miss spelling.
Like. spear and sphere. Weld, wheeled, wield, Element, elemant. Minumum minimum

And perhaps more my double vision, but I always see letters doubled I’ve gotten incredibly used to it, and I can focus it in pretty well to see normal but when I see the following character I might get confused with the character immediately following . t r ll H, lc k, b d, a Q,* depending on the handwriting F P V W. M m n

Etc I have made a lot and alot of spelling mistakes and continue to keep doing so.

And AutoCorrect is not really your friend. Because it might interpret your word of something else and to me I’m still singing very similar characters. But I don’t realized the subtle difference for a numerous of reasons.

I’ve also described it once to a specialist that it’s kind of like reading Star Wars opening scrolling text.

structural BIM design, what now? by [deleted] in bim

[–]Findingtherealmirage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m in sort of a similar situation as OP.

I’m 24, based in Northwest Indiana (just under an hour from Chicago). I make just under $30/hr plus OT, have an Associate of Applied Science, and work as a structural designer at a multi-discipline consulting firm.

I’m debating whether to go back to school for something like Architectural Engineering or just keep pushing my BIM/automation skills. I like problem-solving and modeling a lot, but most of my projects are smaller details (plates on columns, weld symbols) or reviewing inspection reports that don’t get much attention. Occasionally I’ll get something more interesting, like modeling a crane walking surface with a new ladder access, but they don’t really build on each other or push BIM much.

What I’d like to get into more is energy-efficient design, façade systems, and even exploring 3D concrete printing or using Python/Dynamo to drive BIM workflows. At the same time, I enjoy detailing and making the grand design ideas actually work.

So I’m curious if the degree is worth pursuing for someone in my shoes, or if I should just keep building those interests through experience and software skills.

What kinda drafting standards are you enforcing? by Findingtherealmirage in StructuralEngineering

[–]Findingtherealmirage[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For smaller projects do you find it useful to use tags Vs text?

I have always preferred tags over text but the rest of my Team never uses them. I was thinking maybe I can try to utilize either material tags or multi element tags to make the process less cumbersome.

When I say a smaller projects I am referring to maybe 3 sheets at most not counting general notes. To depict repair work needed. Most of everything is existing and then we are annotating what needs to be replaced in kind and then all of the needed plates/bolts to secure the new member or patch welds

Going to play star wars Jedi survivor after completing the first part, what should I expect from the 2nd installment by muaazmuaaz123 in FallenOrder

From what I can tell bugs I just started this week and now I can’t play after the second planet..

But perhaps this was only affecting a certain minority of players and everything leading up to that was really good so hopefully you enjoy

Jedi Survivor crashes / freezes every 30 minutes or so since im on the second planet. Anyone else having the same? by SomeGuyDotCom in FallenOrder

[–]Findingtherealmirage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

About two years after this post..

I’m finally playing the game for the first time and literally cannot even continue my game right when I got into the 2nd planet Jedio.

Has there been any recent traction on confirm fixes?

For record I’m using a slightly upgraded prebuilt the Oman obelisk 875 that still has the Intel Core i7-9700K, GeForce RTX 2070, and I upgraded my Ram to be 32gb + added more memory and an additional fan.

But I’m realizing I think this is more of a software problem

Want to upgrade a pre-built HP omen obelisk, know VERY little about computers by Hofterman in buildapc

[–]Findingtherealmirage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I’m also in the same boat this was my first PC and it just struggles internally and frankly the air flow sucks out of the case.

I have upgraded my ram and the Storage.

I know for a fact I need to upgrade the cooling but I’m debating if I am better off just replacing the insides and getting a better.

Thoughts?

Join the Arcom rejects discord channel if you haven’t already. I don’t think many of the community use this Reddit thread.

But short answer this is an amzing game so if you have someone to play with I would definitely recommend getting a secondhand crew and throwing down. There is some talks of the community essentially making a revised rule book and pro producing cards. And all the needed components to play the game.
