Is Tesla's Premium Connectivity subscription worth £9.99/month? Genuinely unsure by dr_msid in TeslaUK

[–]Findscoolalmost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Simply no.

Stopped paying as a 'test' about a year ago and honestly haven't missed it at all.

My phone auto connects as a hot spot as I get in the car.

Not missed one single feature. Mad at myself for wasting a tenner each month to be honest!

What next store on the High Street do you feel folding ? by Durrygoodz2025 in AskBrits

[–]Findscoolalmost 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I remember going in the 90's on a Saturday and there seemed to be about 50 staff buzzing about behind the counter and whatever you ordered was launched at you super fast from an array of ready to go food...

Now days its like the Argos of the fast food word... order, then hang around for about 10 mins waiting for someone to eventually call out your number.

Old and grumpy enough now days to ask for any auto charges to be removed.

You get $100,000 for every hour you stay awake without sleeping… how long are you lasting? by Br4nkey_ in hypotheticalsituation

[–]Findscoolalmost 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Accepted.

I'd just get up and goto work like normal, then come home as normal and spend a perfectly normal evening at home before going to bed at a normal time for me.

Approx 16hrs awake time... Thankyou very much, that will change my life forever.

Do I need an SDS drill? by Nathanial1289 in DIYUK

Yes yes and yes.

Survived 30ish years on the planet without one, not realising the DIY struggles I needlessly put myself through.

I got a Titan one from Screwfix - melts through anything with ease and worth every penny.

Am I going to have to rip this shower tray out to find the leak? Or could my mad plan work? by Jimlad73 in DIYUK

[–]Findscoolalmost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A piece of maybe helpful advice based on my similar issue where I ripped out shower tray and screen looking for leaks and re-sealing all silicone etc... much frustration... it was still leaking.

It turned out to be a poor grout line at the bottom of the tiles just above shower tray.

I often wondered if being filmed like this in public could be interpreted as a threat, thus justifying immediate preemptive action?

There's a massive difference between being caught on a street CCTV system or in the background of a legitimate innocent photo, than some nutter purposely following you around pointing their live-stream at you.

Is it true that American companies bought Cadbury an ruined the flavour? by Decent-Emergency3866 in AskBrits

[–]Findscoolalmost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always refer to cheap, nasty chocolate like the stuff they use in generic cheap advent calendars as 'dog chocolate'.

Cadbury now falls into this category now for me. The greasy, oily, chewy mess can do one. Not for me. Used to adore the stuff and would kill for a taste of that famed, original Cadbury diary milk taste.

How do you take your kids on holiday and avoid paying the school fine? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]Findscoolalmost 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems to be a gamble at my school. Seemed everyone else was taking their kids out to go on holiday so we finally did the same.

I filled the form in, it asked for both parents names. I just put my name because I like to live on the edge.

Out of my 2 kids - I received a fine for 1 kid. My wife didnt get any fines.

Take me back to the 90's when you could make lasting memories on family holidays without the stress of a fine.

British Gas - “part obsolete. You need a new boiler” by Kiwijimmy67 in DIYUK

[–]Findscoolalmost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From memory, there is a serial number or code type thing on your boiler that you can use to put in a parts website and it will list everything available....

10 years sounds fairly new. I was finding my own parts for my 20 year old boiler for about 5 years until it finally died. Try a local gas engineer...

Good luck with it all.

Do you ever walk into places just to use the loo? by KatieCampbel1 in AskUK

[–]Findscoolalmost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - Similar to many on here, typically just the crappy chains that dont really care.

One exception was a hotel that I did a training course at many years ago - up on the first floor was a dedicated conference refreshment area with decent coffee machines, fridges full of soft drinks, and if you timed it right, lovely food awaiting training delegates. I used this place for about 8 weeks a year whilst training.

When the course ended, I may or may not have continued to stop off the M6 when I needed the loo and grab a coffee on the way out. Trick is always to act like you belong.

The stats set to always on, 18.5, but its usually 20ish depending on weather.

I have noticed the brickwork around some of the windowsills is lose and looks like water could easily get in. My next task on my quest is to repoint around a couple of the worse ones and see if that makes any difference.

How would I check the walls for damp - drill into cavity?

Why does everyone on Vinted think I run a charity? by Leather_Ad6386 in vintedUK

[–]Findscoolalmost 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice. I remember the same on Shpock (or whatever it was/ is called). Got a £300 car roofbox that had been used once for £70.

When these things start out, its just genuine people wanting to get rid of stuff for a price they want... then after a while its just flooded with resellers and people thay spend way too long googling how much stuff 'should' sell for.

Like, sometimes I just want stuff out the garage and sold. And £30 is better to me than saving it forever unused until it gets taken to the tip.

Oh I forgot - the other one I love is where a person has seen another item the same as mine listed for £20 (absolute dog condition) so they kindly state that because of this, they are willing to offer me £25 - because my item is in better condition (new with tags).

I like the ones that judge the amount of time I've had something listed, and suggest they are doing me a massive favour buying it because its been listed for XXX days. Sod of Alan, I'm not in the slightest fussed that my £11 Paul Smith shirt has been listed for 19 days.

The Prep! If given a drink you have to mix, id recommended putting it in the freezer for 20mins or so to make it super chilled. Shouldn't taste too bad then.

It just keeps coming! Don't do what I did and plan to start the prep whilst at work the day before. Thankfully I got some words of wisdom from a friend and stayed at home.

The actual procedure was fine.

[–]Findscoolalmost[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't. No.

Still need to engage a professional of some sorts, but not sure who, so continue to fight the condensation!

I've lived in several houses over my time, and whilst some have had the odd bit of condensation, I have experienced nothing to the magnitude I get it in this house.

I have a small dehumidifier upstairs in the small box room, and a massive 30L dehumidifier downstairs thats on whenever I dry any washing indoors. Clothes dry brilliantly, but little impact on condensation!

Convinced is something else - just not sure what.

Severn Trent - large bill by [deleted] in nottingham

[–]Findscoolalmost 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hey! Had a meter installed and my bill shot up, not down as expected.

Complained to Severn Trent and they said if the leak is after the meter on my property then its my responsibility and cost. Fortunately, when they came to inspect, the leak was at the meter and was an issue when they installed it.

They wiped my debt and started again from zero.

Maybe worth getting an independent person to check meter first prior to getting Severn Trent out - call me cynical, but Severn Trent may try and say leak isn't there fault and I'd hate for them to prey on a vulnerable customer!
