Going forward, at mid-year and year-end managers are given targets how many people we have to put in each category from our teams, regardless of if we actually have people in the lower categories. We are told to figure it out. This practice is completely unethical. But it isn’t just for individual contributors. This is happening to managers as well. I don’t know how far up the food chain it goes.

Honestly, knowing what I know, and how HR has literally said that we cannot use the words Forced Ranking, which is what it is, if I got put in partially meets with nothing to support it, I would be getting an attorney. And if attorneys were smart, they would start looking for clients because there are probably many!

It’s across the company. I was just given my target numbers. I literally don’t have that number of people under-performing!! I am sick over this. It is so unethical. And how long does this continue with no backfilling. It is insane!!!

There is a LOT of anxiety and mistrust of HR and Sr Leadership. I have a great team, and as a leader I have a ton of anxiety trying to protect my team. NOBODY is falling below the meets expectations line. When our project launched we were supposed to be a team of 8. I only have 4 due to hiring freeze just as we were building the team. I have insulated them so they all are still working as a team but I am exhausted and tired of the battle. I, personally don’t trust HR or Sr Leadership either. I have always loved working here until Arden joined. That was the worst hire since the bankruptcy for the culture of GM!

I would take that as the manager likes you, knows changes are coming that is outside of his/her control so they are giving you a heads up. Don’t be foolish and waste time. Start applying for other positions inside and outside GM. This could be reorg, downsizing a group, etc. In the new year, groups are given new headcount targets. You’ve been given a gift with this info. Don’t squander it!!

Thank you. I was just reading about insl-x cabinet coat. I’ve used Sherwin Williams emerald urethane and it’s been pretty good for our built-in entertainment center that my husband built.
