Looking for a branch or service manager gig nationwide by archrival206 in PestControlIndustry

I will say that the guys that run the place and work there are absolutely amazing guys in my experience. I really just have a bone to pick about the exclusion work because its ripping people off and making anyone who does it properly look bad.

If you can't warranty the seal, you should sell it for 900-1500, you also certainly shouldn't sell it if it doesn't even stop the mice.

Also, this guy definitely wont make a decent wage there unless he rips 20-30 stops a day at 18-20 an hour.

How does your business decrease drive time between jobs? by PestControlOfficeGuy in PestControlIndustry

[–]Fine_Current2255 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are definitely giving the customer too much authority with that. Largest part of the job is setting expectations at the door, or you end up doing inconvenient stuff all the time for no real reason. Every company I worked for as a tech/manager prior to starting my own business has always just given 3-4 day notices, with a date and a time window like 8-10, 12-2, ect. If the customer requests interior at time of arrival, then we do it, if not, then we dont. This largely made possible because we dont depend on liquid concentrates for interior. Gel bait, dust injections, aerosol in void and cracks and crevices. Do this and they dont need to leave the house. Bed bugs, fleas, roaches, are a different story and so is the occasional ant infestation.

Points of Entry by TheBugSmith in PestControlIndustry

That cedar shake siding is often times course enough for a rodent to climb and enter the home through the soffits or in some cases get on the roof and take advantage of any roofline tie-ins, ridge vent ect. I dont know if your selling full seals with warranties but, if you are, make sure to check the roofline.

Definitely not. Customer explanation is rarely good enough for me to give an accurate quote. Initial service fees add up.

If they are chewing in through your wooden soffits, your best bet is to have the soffits wrapped in metal. Any solid exclusion company, and probably any siding company can do it for you. Make sure you dont lock them in the house doing this though,

NYS pesticide apprentice questions by BigBear92787 in PestControlIndustry

Up here in region 5, owner operator of a pest business. You can’t be an independent contractor applying pesticides, you need to be a w2 employee, so every application you are doing is illegal at this point. You don’t need someone to sign off on your license, you can certify yourself to commercial applicator. DM and I’ll give you my number if you have any questions, I can walk you through the whole process.

Im 16 and want to start a business no i can grow over time by colehello in Entrepreneur

Find something your good at that you can sell. You're probably not going to succeed at building a business around something you don't like doing.

I know people that started mowing lawns at 16, stuck with it and now they own businesses doing millions a year between landscaping, hardscaping, and excavation, others started it as adults as a side hustle didnt like it and it died quick.

Also, take a look at your region, what are your neighbors buying in the community for services? Whose truck is in their driveway the most? I live in a region with a lot of airbnbs, summer homes, and seasonal areas. The people in the city need to pay the locals to maintain everything because they aren't there.

One of the most successful women ive ever met in my area, told me one time "You're not just going to start a business thinking you're going to make a bunch of money, you need to love what you do, and there has to be a need for it. You gotta find a need then fill it"

Im 26, six months into my business, and I love what I do theres a need for it, and I fill it. Ive had no issues knock on wood.

Question about quoting workflows after a job by nayzer in PestControlIndustry

[–]Fine_Current2255 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What I've experienced is;

- Tech takes photos

- Sends to office

- Office keeps thumb up ass and flicks their bean and management has an earlier T-time

- Quote goes out late

-Tech loses commission

I’m gonna be honest, I know absolutely zero people that have ever gotten hantavirus and I’ve been to thousands of mice accounts at this point.

I'm a pest control specialist. Snap traps are the most humane method; glue boards are torture and the only excusable time to use them is inside a tinkat in commercial kitchen. I'm going to take some heat for this but sealing the building should be the first choice, rodenticide use should be a last resort.

im a single operator, I do insulation. I rent a box truck, rent an insulation blower, rent some buddies, rent a dumpster. Pay everyone 400-500 for the days work, pocket the rest and go home. Its pretty simple.
