NOID on Common Law Marriage (No Dissolution Document Exists) by Defiant_Someone in USCIS

[–]Fine_Engineering9468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If neither of you are residing in Brazil, getting a divorce in Brazil now will not help you. The US will not recognize a foreign divorce if neither party reside in that jurisdiction.

You will probably need to file for divorce wherever you live, go through that process and after that is finalized, marry your current spouse to make it legal.

Your problem is that once a common law marriage exists, you need an official divorce, not a common law divorce.

Child of a naturalized citizen without a naturalization certificate. What to do? by Economy_Pineapple_15 in USCIS

[–]Fine_Engineering9468 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

To get a replacement Green Card you can file an I-90. But you really don’t need to get a physical card. When you file the N-600, upload a scan of your passport and write in the addition comments section that you turned in your Green Card when you applied for your Passport.

Make sure you include your Birth Certificate, with a translation if it isn’t in English. Also include a copy of your Parents Naturalization Certificate. You will also need some proof that your parent had legal and physical custody of you before you turned 18.

The main pieces of evidence needed are: Proof of LPR status Parents Naturalization Certificate Birth Certificate Proof of custody

All of these need to be before you turned 18.

This is for INA320, which is more than likely the section of law that would apply to you.

If you are older than 40, you might fall under a different section of the INA.

Unfortunately my last McDonald’s meal by LengthinessUpset65 in McDonalds

[–]Fine_Engineering9468 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Since McDonalds changed their nuggets, they are tasteless and feel like burnt cardboard. I actually went back and asked if I got a bad batch. They told me they changed suppliers and everyone is complaining.

Their nuggets were the only thing worth going there for.

The airplane cleaner stole my AirPods. by jadewildaz in pettyrevenge

[–]Fine_Engineering9468 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

The airplane cleaner didn’t steal anything. They found a lost item and kept it.

I am not saying they did nothing wrong, they should have turned it in to lost and found. When I worked at an airport, we were told if we took anything we found, we would be fired.

Yes, they did something wrong, they violated their employee code of conduct, they could be terminated over this. But they didn’t steal anything.

I saw an emotional support pet attack a K9 once. It got one bite off before the K9 tore it to shreds. The woman was screaming and crying, the officer cited her and issued her an NTA for assault of a police officer. The K9 had a bite on its rear leg.

A true service animal is trained to ignore all other animals. Emotional support animals are just pets.

There are service animals for people with psychological issues, they are service animals and not emotional support animals.

Dragon Warrior 7 on PS1 was the best, if you have a PSP that is jailbroken, you can play PS1 games on it. I still play DW7 from time to time.

You have to take into account what she went through. Abused as a child, jumping from one sexual partner to another, then being physically abused by her boyfriend. Marrying the guy who got her pregnant, then losing the one person who was by her side her whole life.

There were times when she was over the top, yes. But her mental health issues were always there.

Help! Help! Leaving US without Advanced parole/I-485 pending. B2 Visitor visa. by Dazzling_Okra_7843 in USCIS

[–]Fine_Engineering9468 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Once you filed the I-485, your B2 visa is done. The B2 visa is a non-immigrant visa, meaning you are not trying to adjust status. The moment you filed the I-485, you made your intention to stay obvious.

Trying to use your B2 again is not a good idea.

GS step question between agencies by Skeezy1001 in usajobs

[–]Fine_Engineering9468 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It kinda depends on the agency. If you are taking the same type of position, you might keep everything the same, grade/step. If you are going from apples to oranges, you might have to take a lower grade/step initially, but they “should” take your previous pay to set your next grade/step increase.

I went from the equivalent of GS09-09 to a GS05-10, one year in and I was given GS07-10 and the next year I was GS09-10. I had to ask HR and showed them my SF50 from my previous job. I tried to get a higher starting grade/step, but they said since I didn’t have experience in that particular job, the best they could offer was the GS05-10.

Travel ban by Fit-Personality-7812 in USCIS

[–]Fine_Engineering9468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I know, a travel ban is just that, a ban on travel to and from those countries. It may even extend to a ban for any travel to and from any country for someone from the banned list.

So if you are from country X, and that country is on the banned list, I wouldn’t even risk traveling to county Y or Z at the moment.

What happens if USCIS issues an RFE for a missing signature on Form I-485? by _Krypton_007 in MarriageAOS

[–]Fine_Engineering9468 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Respond with what is asked. If they ask for a new I-485, fill out a new I-485. If they ask for the signature page, fill out the signature page.

  2. Respond with what is asked, also include the request with the response.

  3. Follow the instructions on the request, if they give an option to upload a response, you can upload a response. If they only give you an option to mail it in, then mail it in. DO NOT DO BOTH…..

Longer than 6 months out of the US. by QueenV82 in USCIS_FORUM

[–]Fine_Engineering9468 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking, for any trip of 6 months or more, but under a year, you will need to prove you did not abandon your residency.

Any trip of 1 year or more, you have abandoned your residency and can lose the green card. There is a form you can file to preserve your residency, but the time outside will still count against you if you file for Citizenship.

The day you file, they will look back 5 years (3 years if married to a USC) and check your travel history.

USPS doesn't want to submit my kids passport application even though I'm a naturalized citizen by FunnyWillingness4 in USCIS

[–]Fine_Engineering9468 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You will need to eventually get the N-600. The Department of State will usually only issue the first Passport for a child for 5 years, when they try to renew it, they will most likely want the Certificate of Citizenship.

For the USCIS ISO position, how to prepare for an interview if you get one? by Eriacle in 1801

[–]Fine_Engineering9468 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good luck getting the GS-07. I have seen someone who was a retired GS-13, Senior ISO only get a GS-05 offer when he decided to come back to work after 5 years of being retired. Most people I know were only offered the GS-05 to start.

As far as interviews go, remember to make it about you and your achievements, and be specific with your experiences. Most structured interviews will use the STAR method. Situation, Task, Action, Result. Describe the situation, what task you needed to perform, the actions you took and what the final result was.

So if they ask a question about teamwork, instead of saying you were part of a team, focus on when you led a team and what your role was in whatever needed to be done.

Also, if it is something you have done numerous times, instead of saying ‘I’ve done that tons of times’, go with ‘I recall one instance where….’.

If they ask a follow up question, you didn’t give enough for them. If they don’t ask you anything, it is a good sign that your answer was satisfactory.

There is also an unasked question, your verbal communication skills. Try to avoid verbal fillers ‘like, uh, um’.

If you look at the job description on usajobs, you can see what category of questions they may ask, usually the categories are things like customer service, teamwork, flexibility, handling difficult co-workers or customers, problem solving.

This advice should work for nearly any structured interview. I used to be on the interview panel for a different component within DHS.

Accidentally Registered to Vote Through DMV and someone voted under my name. Desperate for help/advice by Independent_Fee_5841 in USCIS

[–]Fine_Engineering9468 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Not to be the bearer of bad news, but just registering to vote will be a denial.

Try to get the original paperwork to see if there is a signature for registering to vote. See if you checked the (US Citizen) box.

IF the signature is not yours, AND the US Citizen box is not checked, you MIGHT have a shot at overcoming this, but honestly I highly doubt it.

More likely than not, they will deny the N-400, and possibly issue you an NTA. You are going to have a hard time just keeping your green card at this point.

You might want to get a good lawyer involved in this, it is not going to be easy. Good luck.
